2:46 you can tell he's having fun with the big muff hahaha. Also shoutout to the editor for the very clean visual explanations and overall presentation. This is a fantastic video.
Yeah, they are very versatile, I have this particular model too, the Jr is my favourite of all the Gretsch's, mine is an Indonesian built and it's flawless and the only one I've heard that can slay most guitars on most styles.
That great gretsch sound is sooo underrated! And theyre so inexpensive. Im getting one. Decision made. Now all that remains is to earn the cash... EDIT: OK. this is one month later, and I have just been reminded of the preceding paragraph by someone giving the original msg a 'Like'. So, did I follow through? Yes and no. More no than yes... Actually, just no!! (Lol!) I raised the money, yes. I bought a guitar yes. But it narrowly missed out to a PRS se. You prob think, they're not in competition with each other! Yep, I know, it has just been down to these two for sometime. They each make sense to my rig and other guitars for different reasons. I don't regret the PRS at all. It is *that* good! But I feel for Gretsch, they always miss out to Gibson/Fender/PRS..and others! It is absolutely still on my "one day" list.
Congrats on the sweet PRS! Mega cool! This Gretsch is still very much next in line for me, though. It's top of the long list. I've taken the 20 minute drive down to my nearest Guitar Center several times just to play it and noodle around on it for a while, and I love it more every time. Even as inexpensive as the G2655T is, though, I'm still too broke to actually pull the trigger. But I'm hoping I can go in there sometime and try to haggle it down because of how long it's been sitting in there. I'm actually the only one I've ever seen play it. lol
Yo it's so crazy reading this! I'm torn between the same two guitars right now. It's either going to be the exact model played in this video or a prs se. I'm going to try out a prs tomorrow but I was really happy with the gretsch when I took it for a spin. If there's not much difference in playability/tone I'm leaning toward the PRS, those bird inlays are so pretty! Even if I go happily that way though, I can tell it's gonna hurt to know I didn't get the gretsch lol. We'll see we'll see.
The best guitar review ever!!! No bullshit talks about " amazing mahogany body, maple neck and beautiful paint") Just MUSIC! You playing very cool in different styles, so great than thanx for this vid! I've decided to buy this guitar
i am about to buy one i cant wait this sounded awesome! i already own one Gretsch a Electromatic limited edition g5435 and it plays better than a LP i think, so i shall see about this one here later this week! with a demo on my channel
I always land on your videos because of a specific guitar model and end up simply admiring your playing. It's great. As for semi holows I'm in trouble: I'd really like to get one but there's so much choice on the market that I can't make up my damn mind. The Ibanez lineup looks great but so do many models from Gretsch and Epiphone. Damnd tough choice.
Bravo gretsch !
Definitely an excellent playing review showing the capabilities that would make me feel ive just purchased a brilliant guitar ..... would a beginner using a basic or mid range amp produce be able to gets similar sounds.
Yes, just picked up the 50w, as an entry level modeling amp it is freaking amazing. It will take me a year to master the features 😂 For $250, you will be all set well into your guitar career.
was planning on getting an ibanez artcore as73g, but i found out its much thicker and bigger, not something id like, also, not as versatile, finally came across this and fell inlove, getting this exact guitar in this gun metal... kinda wish they had a blue color like this with the bigsby but its just a color.. ordering today as soon as the store opens, NOTHER COVID 19 GIFT TO MYSELF!! earlie this month i purchased a 2020 Epiphone LP Muse and my god, its amazing.
I'm trying to decide between this guitar (the junior body size) or a regular Gretsch G2622 (same specs as this guitar, just with the normal bigger thinline body). I am looking for a good, true, semi-hollow tone. I'm a smaller guy, so I'm leaning towards this smaller guitar, but does it sacrifice any of that open, breathy semi-hollow tone in your opinion? I already have a fantastic Gibson LP, so I'm not really looking for a guitar that sounds like a Les Paul (as I have heard some people say about the smaller body semi-hollows like this one). I'm really looking for a true semi-hollow sound with my next purchase. Will I get that tone with this guitar, or should I go for the bigger model to get true semi-hollow tone?
@@Newnodrogbob after I made this comment, I actually started venturing into PRS territory. I'm a massive fan of jerry garcia and his tone, which I believe to be waaaaaay up there with any other guitarists known for their guitar tones. So seeing Mayer in Dead & Co getting those totally godly tones with his his semi hollow PRS really led me down that path. I had decided on getting a semi hollow PRS Vela until I hit Reverb. It was on that website that I discovered a limited run PRS model I had never seen before (something like 100 of these guitars were made) and a limited run of a certain model of theirs. I ended up springing for the PRS S2 Studio, and haven't looked back since. One of these days if I ever start making some money, I will add a Gretsch to my collection, but that PRS was totally s[peaking to me in a way that other guitars hadn't up to that point. I have no regrets with my decision; I just stumbled upon a guitar that has turned out to be the one that I go with for 99% of songs. But yeah, everyone needs a Gretsch in their collection, and I will certainly have one at some point.
I bought this exact model about a year and a half ago. It produced a weird buzz in the body that nobody could figure out so the store took in back and Gretsch sent out a replacement. This took nearly 8 months to arrive because covid. It arrived a few weeks ago and, frankly, it's been a string of disappointing quirks. Intonation at the 12th fret is dead-on but chords in first position are severely out of tune. Yes, all guitars are out of tune here but this one is especially so. I am unable to set the action to the point where it plays how I like and also doesn't produce fret buzz. The pickup toggle switch is cheap and rattly and resonates with certain notes. It's all very frustrating and I haven't played it since I brought it home. I'll try to take it back to the store for a refund. I think they'll offer store credit but there's only one other guitar in this price range that I want and the store doesn't carry it. Incidentally, in order to get credit from Gretsch, the store was required to show Gretsch proof that they had destroyed the guitar. Economy of scale at its best.
@@thelmaviaduct I mean, don't let it stop you. It's a really sweet-sounding and playing guitar. If there's one at the store that you can try and you like it then go for it. Just make sure you eek out all the possible QC issues.
@@helmanfrow It's to be used as a learner guitar, can't play it either as mail order, and not sure what I'm looking out for tbh just need it to be good out of the box, or at least fixable. Got a cheap £150 Epiphone SG and action is too high, if it's lowered, fret buzz. Just need summat that works and looks good, so i pick it up.
@@thelmaviaduct I hear ya. Well, there aren't really any bad guitars being made today for the most part so I'm certain your guitar is out there somewhere.

Just bought this guitar over the weekend. I love it so much. And its light weight + #loveandHUNDREDS
Mmmmmmmmm, smooth and smokey. Rock and roll rasp on demand... Seems to be a good, rich all around sound.

Buy an amp before you buy a guitar

Great video, and an extra plus that you use the similar amp and speaker as me. :)
beautiful demos
What kind of case you recommend for this guitar??
Great Job. Sweet guitar.
Nice looking, versatile sounding guitar, especially through that Sovtek amp. Wondering how it would sound through my Roland Cube 60?
Sounds great

My thoughts too. I wish there were more reviews using the kind of amps most of us can afford. Maybe a Boss Katana or similar?
how is the sustain? and the neck ? i prefer really slim neck

Indonesia.

his own version of ac/dc - sin city, i think
Fantastic demo but those bracelets freak me out.

Is it made in China? Can china's gretch guitars sound good like this?
