Awesome video! I currently work at a very small hospital that is being bought out and I'm hoping that my CPMA helps when it comes to re-structuring. I loved hearing your story!
Getting prepare for CPMA. Currently working as CPC/ Office Manager/ Compliance Office/ Records Custodian at a small office. (Chiropractic). Thank you for your video.
I have been in Healthcare for 27 years. I am tired of doing A/R, follow up etc. I want to get into Auditing because I think that's the next step for me. I am looking forward to taking the course and passing the test. You are truly inspiring me.
Hello Victoria. I am a 15+ year professional coder (CPC) and I received my CPMA in January. How can I transition to physician education if I have never done it prior? Can you speak more on Auditing. Thank you.
Question would you recommend anatomy and physiology, and medical terminology certificates? Just wanted to know if it’s worth the time and money to go along with CPC CPMA certification?
I am really considering this field but, I am on the fence. I find it very confusing with all of the different certifications. I also think that employers should offer to help cover all of these certification and continuing ed costs. And I'm very surprised that AI hasn't taken over this field. It seems there should be a more efficent method to all of it.
I totally get where you're coming from. The world of medical coding can indeed feel overwhelming at first, especially with the array of certifications available. And while it would be ideal for employers to help with costs, it varies from company to company. As for AI, while technology has made strides, the intricacies and nuances in medical coding often require a human touch for accuracy. It's a field that's both challenging and rewarding, so if you're up for it, it can be a great career path! 😊
Hey Victoria, I think I may have messed up. I signed up for a cpma course and I'm half way done and just working on my practicals. My question is is when I get this certification will I be taken seriously when hired or do you think I will even be able to get a job without experience in coding. This makes me nervous to finish. Please let me know. 🙏
I'm debating CPMA or CDEO through AAPC. Curious to know your thoughts on the differences with each credential. (7 year coder in Profee Outpatient setting)
Both the CPMA and CDEO are valuable credentials from AAPC, but of course they serve different focuses within the coding world. CPMA: This focuses on medical auditing, ensuring compliance, and correct coding practices. With this certification, you'd be delving into the intricacies of coding reviews, documentation, and regulatory standards. If you're interested in more oversight roles or enjoy digging into the details and ensuring best practices are met, this might be for you. CDEO: This credential is tailored for those in outpatient settings like yours. It emphasizes the importance of clinical documentation, ensuring accurate representation of patient encounters. This could further enhance your existing skills, particularly in understanding and optimizing documentation in an outpatient setting. It really boils down to where you see your career heading. If you're leaning towards roles that involve more oversight, auditing, and ensuring compliance, the CPMA might be a better fit. However, if you're looking to deepen your expertise in outpatient documentation and coding, the CDEO would be a great addition.
Do I need to become a coder or biller in order to become an auditor? Secondly: which institution do U recommend for people wanting to get the necessary auditor training
Hello 😊 is not having ur associates degree a big down side ? I am a 5 year biller and new cpc and wanted to look into cpma in 2 years of coding but was scared to bc I don’t have an associate degree

After two year experience of coding I completed CPC certification. Now I am senior med coder . Can I go for CPMA now . What else requirement CPMA needs ?
Short answer, no. I cover that more thoroughly in my podcast:www.buzzsprout.com/1134719/episodes/6505795-the-impact-of-ai-on-medical-coding As well as address in this video at about 10:37 in: th-cam.com/video/lqxV1czNO5c/w-d-xo.html

Thanks for your advice! My organization just implemented the AI coding software so things are getting interesting. @@ContempoCoding
Hi, what do you think about being a coder to reimbursement specialist?

Hi. How long after you get your CPC or COC , could you get the CPMA credential? Thank you for your videos.
After 2 years of getting your CPC, you can take the CPMA exam
Thanks!

The requirement is passing the exam. You can find out more on the AAPC website.
Did you have to get a bachelors degree?
is it true that medical coding's gonna be automated.?
I keep hearing the same thing. 🤔🤔
Short answer, no.

Yes, of course. *Eventually* . Just depends on how sophisticated the AI is the automation software is using. It's not there yet.
Me too! I am in medical claims. I really want to work as a medical auditor…
You should look into the CPMA credential or become a member of NAMAS!
I have my CPC, CPMA and CEDC. What other credential should I get? COC, CRC or CDEO? Thanks
Did you start out with CPC then achieved other certifications?
@@emilyforestal3423 yes, that would be the best option
