Ultra groups are armies, Ultras are soldiers, Teams are the Motherland.
"Our" stadium is a Castle, "others" have fortress and the Ultras pubs are parliaments.
They have even own flags and anthems, which parallel is quite self-explanatory.
It's just can't work in USA due to the huge distances between cities. But the South American stadiums are pretty similar to european; some of them even crazier.

This was a collection of many different Countries and cultures , some just fans and others more sinister .The term Ultra started in Italy , in This Country the term was hooligans . Eventually it led to grounds being made all seated and extra powers to Police . Loyalties to Football clubs and the rivalries go back years , sometimes politics or other issues can be involved and it creates opportunities for thugs and things can go over the top . Very difficult to explain to someone not brought up in the culture .

Italian Ultras also follow their clubs political leanings. Some Italian clubs are Fascist. Some are more Socialist.
Italy changing sides during WW2 largely meant, that the pre war, Fascism and Marxism / Communism was never really sorted out, like what was done in Germany.

@@stevenjones3167 The reason many clubs were against all seater stadiums, was money.

With all seater, you can often count the empty seats.

Grounds are safer now but the atmosphere is much more tame compared to the terraces . You could turn up at different times and still stand wherever you wanted with mates and big games you would often end up yards away from where you started as the crowds moved .

It's very hard to tell what exactly ultras are because there is so many of different groups of different clubs in different cities and in different countries. But the basic is that they are hard core fans of a club, usually football/soccer club but there are ultras in other sports also. Ultras besides their club affiliation usually have some sort of ideology and/or social background, so many or most groups have their ideological/political viewpoints, some have very strong religious component, some have social component to them, so some clubs/ultras represent working class, some are more "posh", some represent some ethnic group or religious community, some are far left, antifa, anarchists some are far right, some are even Nazi and all of that adds in to the very strong club bond....

it's not necessarily a justification, but you have to understand that here in Europe, cheering is not like where you go to the right stadium to spend a quiet day like going to the circus, with mum, dad, aunt, grandmother, the cap with hands clapping and eating hot dog wagons. for us it is an extremely serious, heartfelt and identifying thing. he doesn't just watch a show, if you lose who cares and then all arm in arm. to say where is better or worse is subjective. but the reality is this.

Another great video about european football passion. I think you took an overall good conclusion to this video. Its realy just both. mindblowing amazing and scary at the same time. Because when you visit a football game all these scenes (neutrals, supporters, fans, ultras and hooligans) are mixed up in 20k to 100k of people so just sometimes there can be some explosive mixtures🙃 but as you said this videos just shows some of the most extreme scenes especially when it comes to violence. That just happens in about 1 or 2 % of the games over the year.

"Ultras" is just a more fancy name for Hooligans. The reason why they all either wear a face mask or have their face blurred is precisely because they are criminals or associated with criminal activities, Hooliganism. But don't get me wrong, not all that was shown there are "Ultras", many were just normal organised club fans, but unfortunately the hooligans mix into them, and try to romanticise the "ultras" as if it was something other than hooliganism. It isn't, ultras are hooligans, organised and legal fans aren't to be confused with ultras.

    • @SashaBaron112
      @SashaBaron112 ปีที่แล้ว +3

You sort of mixed things in your head.
1st and foremost not every ultras or hooligan is a criminal. Every criminal is a criminal, organised crime has way higher sentences than a criminal act committed on your own, meaning you can’t name any of the two groups criminal otherwise you wouldn’t see the phenomena exist.
Now you could argue every Hooligan is an Ultra but not every Ultras is a Hool aka going beyond normal fans is an Ultras but above Ultras is a Hool who would also engage in fighting. (Not that Ultras don’t fight, especially protecting/attacking their/respective opponents firms’ banner ) sorry if a sort of wordsalad came out.
Ps: choreographies are mostly done by Ultras, organised fifhts by Hools (when two agree to fight there again is no crime as far as I know)
      Hope it clarified something.

@@SashaBaron112 Like I wrote: "But don't get me wrong, not all that was shown there are "Ultras", many were just normal organised club fans"
With that said: no mate, all ultras are hooligans. Throughout Europe most Ultras groups are being prohibited, most Club Fans groups who allow them are being disavowed by the clubs, and most members placed in no entry list. *There's a reason why everyone who spoke in this video had their face blurred or were using a face mask,* and some even had their voice chanced (i.e. the Portuguese one from SLB... ironically the other Portuguese one, from FCP, Fernando Maduraira AKA "Macaco", has several convictions due to racism, violence, etc., and is one of the few who decided not to be incognito... not that would matter, if FCP is mentioned in the context of Ultras he's in it so...).

First os all ultras and hooligan is not the same. The ultras support paissoinly the team (loud, fire, coreo). The holligans are looking for the enemy's ultras and fight each other (this is ustawka) but not in the stadium, somewhere out of the stadium or city. The second things what it's difficult to understand from USA why wo team's fans hate each other so much. This is many times not just about championship or cup who won more. Many case there is historical reason. For example in Hungary (I can speak the hungarian samples becuse I know that deeply) there are two big clubs, Ferencváros, and Újpest (both are in Budapest). Újpest was team of the police in the communist system. The police doesn't work similar in a communist system like in democracy. Everybody hated police because the terrorized the people. Furthermore the communist goverment wanted terminate Ferencváros because Ferencváros was the biggest club with the bigest fan base, because they were afriad the people, but they couldn't. Therefore hate each other the two clubs' supporter. Secondary how many championship they won. By the way Ferenváros 34, Újpest 20.

Visiting a football match is not dangerous.
But there is just 1 thing you shouldn´t do which then causes troubles at least and causes harm at worst if you do... and which would be a very stupid thing to do in general anyway.
"Don´t place yourself in the opponent´s sector especially when wearing the colours of the home team" (which is the sector located either directly behind the goal or in one of the curves aside = !!!is the fanatics´sector/Ultra´s sector!!! ) ...
So when you place yourself somewhere at the long sides of the stadium everything will be fine and a fun match experience...if you didn´t know the sectors in a football stadium are seperated from each other so you simply can´t go from one sector to an other..besides of obvious safety reasons it is also because the ticket prices are variable depending where (in which particular sector) in the Stadium your seat is then located, therefore to avoid that you buy a cheap ticket and then place yourself in one of the more expensive seats.
By the way I´m speaking of the top tier leagues of a country ..the leagues below are usually a bit different in that behalf = foremost less safety measures + smaller stadiums
although even that actually depends on the particular Football Club.

Now you've got a bit more understanding of what football is to people outside of America and hopefully can understand a bit more regarding my comments about your Mr "Fight and Win". The bloke would literally get ripped apart doing something so pathetic at a game outside of the US. Even the non ultras would verbally slaughter him.
The reason why they wear the face coverings is so they cannot be identified by the police or picked up by cameras at the game because at some point they will be involved in violence although that doesn't really happen in England, to be honest there's not really an Ultras element in the UK despite there being fighting at some games, also in the UK the fans won't hide their faces whether they're fighting or not.

Hey amanda. Some ultra fans are political rather left or right but whatever an ultras fans believe in they'll be rivals with the other side to what they believe in. If there local or in the same city that is. For example celtic and rangers not only it's a Glasgow derby but both have ultras celtic are left wing ultras rangers are right wing ultras. Same with lazio and roma lazio right wing roma left wing

Firms started here, but mainly the Eastern side of Europe have Ultras. Both have passion, but clubs here started banning anyone causing big trouble. Both have the criminal side to it, not just the fighting. A kinda funny movie to watch is Green Street, this is mainly because there is a clueless American in it.😉 It is more of a drama with comedy, but has some violence in it. So it is kind of a win, win for anyone watching it.
