As a third semester student yes it is beneficial to read but in my opinion the NCLEX book is easier to read and saves a lot of time. Thats the exam they are preparing you for so why not use the direct material? I commend you for having the patience to read that book its pretty dense!
I agree! I have used the NCLEX book multiple times to review content that I need more information about. I personally read my textbooks because I am familiar with my instructors exam formats and they typically pull questions directly from the reading of the textbooks. As I get closer to the NCLEX, I know I will rely on my NCLEX book even more! Thanks for watching!
Any tips on how to differentiate what material is test material in the textbooks?
In this video, I showed how I highlight. It’s kind of a lot but my instructors books look the same. I will take their teaching powerpoints and see what stood out to me from their teaching. My instructors also pull back of the book questions so I focus on those and make sure I understand the content fully. When I read, I try to ask myself “is this testable?” And if I think it is (which I’m usually 80% wrong lol) I will highlight that and make sure I know it! I hope this helps!
Hello Destiny your video was super helpful I am in the nursing program rn take med surg and literally went over hypertension today. I’ve gotten discouraged because I haven’t received a good grade on the first two tests and doubting myself so thank you for this video
Hypertension is a big topic! I’m glad this helps! Stay tuned for some more videos coming soon!
honestly studying in school is dependent on what works for that person
Correct! That is why I said this is how “I” study in nursing school! Not everyone is going to do the same but if nobody knows where to start hopefully this will help them!
Red lipstick looks so good on you!
Thank you so much!
I'm definitely going to have to try your technique out! I hate reading but it seems to be helping me understand the concept and test better, so I think your highlighting technique will definitely help me! Thank you for breaking this down for us
Of course! Come back when you try it a couple of times and let me know if it helped!
Great tips! Thanks for helping out our peeps.
