this video should be on loop at every place in the world that has hoop. i dont play zone in pick up. but screens and ball movement plus communicating on D is how we beat more athletic teams that would beat us one on one
Because some teams are just significantly worse at beating zone defenses. Also, to counter height/athleticism mismatches. Both are illustrated in the video.
you probably dont give a damn but does anyone know of a tool to get back into an Instagram account..? I was dumb lost the password. I appreciate any tricks you can offer me.
you need to do more of these helpful videos, I've actually gotten better and got more looks because of these videos, especially the "harden step".I get dumb ankles with that move. So please create more videos like these !!!!! @ IN THE LAB
Thanks for the video. I was looking for ways to beat a zone and this helps. I am a first year varsity girls coach in Los Angeles and we made it to the quarter finals. The game is against a taller more athletic team. I have been asking all the coaches I know how to approach the game and most say to "run them" and make them foul. Have you seen or experienced anything that really worked against a taller team. We were told that they run a tight 2-3 zone.
you should highlight how important that position at the top of the key is when you're playing against a zone. also played many pickup games with the keppel kids and it looks like they're doing good this year !
Very good and insightful video bossman, i'm a big fan of the ShiftTeamHQ channel and a hooper myself. The assessments made were totally unbiased but more than anything they really gave me more tools to use when playing against screens (which I personally hate to play/ play against, but w/e).
Thanks man, really helped me out! I'm British so it's not played too much over here but i managed to get my bros to set up a school team and we're only in practice mode atm but we really needed to be told effective ways of playing. I'm an athletic guy so i seem to always go for the drive but this taught me otherwise. Anyone
Good tips, just played against a team that ran zones the whole game and even though my teams has a very high iq they still mostly drove like the home team in this video, I try to enforce movement cuz I've seen it destroy zones and I've seen it in game but no one catches on to ball movement beating zones
Notice that this team was playing against a 2-3 zone, and many of the easy shots they got were from hitting the 2 most vulnerable spots in a 2-3: the high post at the free throw line between the 2 guards, and the 2 slots, which are the spots in between the corner and the basket along the baseline. If you hit those 2 spots against a 2-3, you're bound to get a good shot.
Look back at this video, the white is seems very undiscipline through this video. Even the possessions they do score the white team is scoring off forced attacks to the basket that are out of control. All of there scoring opportunities seemed to only be off of beating your man one on one. The red team slowed the ball down, was strong with the ball, and read the defense very well. Defenseively the white team was undiscipline and lazy. Red team was aggressive, quick, and had an effective trap, on ball defense, and rotation.
Very much appreciate that you posted a vid with Keppel High School. It's in Alhambra, with a mostly Asian population, and they play great bball. Thanks.....
I go to a basketball session when I'm home with my parents and whenever we play, both teams opt for a 2-3 zone (3 at the back). Almost nobody cuts and the majority of the time the ball is stuck in someone's hands on the perimeter or someone is aimlessly dribbling at the top of the perimeter. Each time I go, I pass the ball, sometimes my brother comes and there is one other guy who can play, we played together and the other team got crapped on, we had 2 other players who did very little and we scored pretty much every time basically playing 3 and a 1/2 vs 5. Yet nobody plays the same way, but anyone can move the ball... and the people there have witnessed how much more effective it is. People cut more now, but the vision people have, like if I beat my man, your man helps off, I kick to you, you drive and draw both guys onto you, guess who is wide open..... me.. how people cannot understand stuff like that, just blindly drive to rim.. It is stupid that everyone wants to imitate NBA play, when they don't even understand NBA play. So many crap screens and pick and rolls, but it looks 'legit'. It is very easy to get an open shot when I play at these sessions, yet some players prefer to take step back jumpers than pass to open man baseline etc....
HOW TO BEAT A ZONE Rule # 1 Move the ball Rule # 2 Find the gaps Rule # 3 Fake a pass to make a pass Rule # 4 Set screens and use screens Rule # 5 Penetrate the gaps
joellpc HAHAHAHA WANNABE BALLER. Go to this guys channel, he LEGIT has videos of him MISSING DUNKS HAHAHAHAHA WHO UPLOADS THAT HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAH
wtf who fucking isolates on a zone defense? That guy wasnt coached well bruh no offense. Basketball is a 5 man game not a 1 man game who dribbles too much.

played zone in local gym league and it worked to perfection against the bigger more athletic and talented teams
great points BUT....why are HS kids playing ZONE???...shouldn't we be teaching them man to man principles? IDK just asking?

The burgundy team's pg is disciplined af. You can tell he's got a great feel for the game.
Pass fakes done well can be shifty though!

I'm liking that PG!

you need to do more of these helpful videos, I've actually gotten better and got more looks because of these videos, especially the "harden step".I get dumb ankles with that move. So please create more videos like these !!!!! @ IN THE LAB

That pg was amazing from what I was watching he remained calm and made the right choices
Thanks for this dev! Very helpful!
the point guard on the burgundy team has a really good court vision
looks on the court, like where his teammates are and where they are going to be
New sub. Excellent analysis on how to attack the zone. Glad I found your channel. 2 thumbs up.
Great vid. How about one on handling a double team?
Notice that this team was playing against a 2-3 zone, and many of the easy shots they got were from hitting the 2 most vulnerable spots in a 2-3: the high post at the free throw line between the 2 guards, and the 2 slots, which are the spots in between the corner and the basket along the baseline. Damn that's Bailey Kikuchi. Been following him since his freshman year. He's got his own channel where he posts his own stuff.

***** Is that you? if it is I see you bro.
please do "how to beat a man defense"
#3 is on youtube
Bailey Kikuchi Varsity age 15
that asian team showing some asian discipline doe
Asian -.- can ball!
I could go zone defense easily and constantly. I just cant zone in offence
Why was what looks like a way more athletic team playing against a team that does not look as athletic?
Intelligence vs athleticism
wtf who fucking isolates on a zone defense? That guy wasnt coached well bruh no offense. Basketball is a 5 man game not a 1 man game who dribbles too much.
That is true. The whole point of a zone d is to stop dribble penetration!
Most kids try to do it actually
Ayeee my school mark keppel 🏀
Jovanni tf
The one and only BK3
who was the team with 41 points?
+warhamster07 Mark Keppel High School
***** we should try this for the team
