Just wanted to point out that the ring doorbell comes with 2 pouches of screws (A & B). The B pouch, that you did not show, has three shorter screws that MUST be used to attach the device to the mounting bracket. If you use the longer wood screws from the A pouch it could damage your battery etc.
They did just incase the monthly subscription price by 43% so do consider how expensive it is going to get and consider alternatives that are free once installed.
great video, can you please confirm which ring product this is - this one? Ring Video Doorbell - 1080p HD video, improved motion detection, easy installation - Satin Nickel (2020 release) (Amazon)
Wish you had shown how to conserve battery when the camera is disabled from live view and how to get to live view in this mode when motion is detected. Good video though.
One quick, and important announcement for all new Ring doorbell systems. NEVER, EVER, under any circumstances, inform someone over your Ring doorbell, that you are not home. There are theives who will pretend to be there for something else, get you to confirm you aren't there for them, and then they circle around to the back door or a window and break in. When you tell someone you aren't home, you are basically telling them your home is undefended right now.
A smart theif would just come through the back anyway if there isn’t a camera there as well. Locks and cameras only keep out and detour law abiding ppl. I agree with your comment by the way I’m just saying…there’s a lot of different types of criminals. Some smart and some not so smart. I actually came here to see if there’s a way to mount it on the back side of my apartment close to the street. No ones coming through the front. If someone comes in that I do t want it’ll definitely be the opposite side. Most ppl get ring cameras for comfort and peace of mind but they dont actually detour real criminals. I don’t know how many times I see on Facebook or something else a blurry screenshot of Simone stealing stuff at 430am. When I get and install mine it will be on the back side so when it goes off I can actually stop whatever creep or criminal is out there. I don’t need to catch the mailman or neighbor walking by. I’m worried about the meth heads out back (I live in a riff part of town) lol. Again I do agree that no one should ever admit to being gone from home. Just know that if someone really wants something that would t stop them anyway so make sure you have other parameters in place just in case. Stay safe.
@@kaseyrolow I don't you caught what I meant there. In this scenario, the theif is not concerned with being seen on the camera, they are concerned about there possibly being someone inside the home. Just because there is no car in the driveway does not mean nobodg is inside the house. Sure, they can enter through the back to avoid the camera, but if someone is still home and potentially armed, it could still go very bad for them very fast. They can avoid the camera by just wearing a mask, that's been normalized since the pandemic, so it likely won't evem raise suspicion. So now they still don't actually get identified from the camera, they don't get got by a resident still inside, and they got a good 20 minutes at a minimum to do what they want inside before there is really much risk of getting anyone on the scene.
@@ChrisR2020 I know what you meant. I’m glad you brought up the mask point bc I was going to say that as well.. @@kaseyrolow I get that, but my point was always don't make it even easier for them by telling them you're not actively inside the house to potentially defend it. If they are considering trying to break in, and they aren't sure whether the home is empty or not, then thinking it might be occupied might actually sway them towards passing it up in favor of trying a different house. Like, instead of telling them you're not there, letting them know the home is empty, tell them to leave it and you'll be out to get it in a few minutes, thus convincing them you are theee, and just busy at the moment. Thank you for this very thorough and helpful video Justin. Just to let you know that, at 13:06 in your video people can still see your address! Also, when you talk about motion sensitivity you said to increase it if you get a lot of people walking by and decrease it if you don't get many. In fact, it's the other way round. Worth noting too that you can only go back and preview recorded footage if you have paid for a Ring Protect subscription. I don't have one, but if I'm out and a motion is detected at my front door, I can look at the live feed in my Ring app and screenshot it so I have a record of who was at the door and when.

What a waste of time and money...... I have a regular doorbell with a hard wired security camera system around my home and two big dogs. No one is getting in or out of my property unless my Cane Corsos say so..... Old school rules!
Better than dogs, Boston Dynamics is making robot dogs called ''Eviscerator'' they chase intruders and rip them off with sharp blades. The ''Biolaripper'' is another robot dog version coming up soon. No veterinarian costs and no food costs.
@@entertainmentexecuti Better than a dog? That’s absolutely not true and never will be, ever! Can it swim? Can it sense danger beforehand? Can it track sent a week after it was laid down? Can it let a human know before hand that a seizure is eminent? Can it pull a sled through the Arctic? Can it sense this ice? Out maneuver a bear? Chase down a wild animal? Traverse a forest and climb a mountain? Keep me warm at night? And a thousand other variables……. The answer is a clear and resounding NO! Robots require much more expense than bio life. Just the batteries alone cost hundreds if not thousands of dollars. The electrical cost of charging those batteries over the course of its life will run into the thousand’s easily. Repairs (which I’m sure will mirror the auto industry’s attempt to make vehicles only repairable by technicians) will cost thousands! Robots easily become impractical fast in the real world. Put an elastic around your head and snap out of it! Your brain is slipping into a technological delusion. Boston, Massachusetts.
When you watch the ring doorbell videos they tell you to unscrew from the bracket, and take it off to re-charge. How would you re-charge the battery? I haven’t bought mine yet but I would have thought you will need to physically take the doorbell off to re-charge if it’s battery operated
You do have to take it off to recharge it if you don’t have power at the existing wires. If you do have power there that will keep the battery charged.

Well, mine only had one set of screws so they must defer nor did my faceplate have a big silver button to release it so I had to slide a thin blade gently between to pop it apart....must be an original without all the new bells & whistles {ya know ~ Christmas presents, sigh....}
Great video !! Like the watch ban.. respond

Why do all the videos on YT not answer the simple question.
How do you change the sound on the RING DOORBELL?
No I don't want to know how to change the CHIME or any other device, only the DOORBELL???????????
Thank you
What a waste of time and money......
I have a regular doorbell with a hard wired security camera system around my home and two big dogs.
No one is getting in or out of my property unless my Cane Corsos say so.....
Old school rules!
If it chews it bites.
Better than dogs, Boston Dynamics is making robot dogs called ''Eviscerator'' they chase intruders and rip them off with sharp blades. The ''Biolaripper'' is another robot dog version coming up soon. No veterinarian costs and no food costs.

Better than a dog?
Just like that? Or just like that? Maybe just like that but probobly just like that. I think, just like that!
You are totally wrong, there is power supply to the doorbell, you don’t have to physically keep taking it off from the door
When you watch the ring doorbell videos they tell you to unscrew from the bracket, and take it off to re-charge. How would you re-charge the battery? I haven’t bought mine yet but I would have thought you will need to physically take the doorbell off to re-charge if it’s battery operated
@@deeperlife5689if you’re not wiring the doorbell then you have to charge it but if it’s wired then you do not
You do have to take it off to recharge it if you don’t have power at the existing wires. If you do have power there that will keep the battery charged.
Everyone's house has a usb charging cable at their front door right?! 😂😂😂

You do realize that you are showing your address at the 13 minute mark?
Unfortunately, this is basically a waste of time, I could've read the directions, and install manual by myself. there were no questions answered as far as simple thing like disarmed home or away.....
Read it than, no need to be rude
