It'll be great if we could jailbreak our smart devices and play reworked versions of these mobile games the way they were intended, instead of the way they turned out!
Cut the rope 2 used to be so different. One mission (medal) per level, a few clovers in each location (Forest, Sandy Dam, Junkyard etc) and getting enough clovers would unlock extra levels in each location, the menu was very similar to the box menu in the other cut the rope games, no energy system etc. Watch ZackScottGames' playthrough if you really want to see how the game used to look.
@@Jake.Miller Wait actually I got completely mixed up. On iOS that version still exists. "Cut The Rope 2" is an iOS exclusive game that costs like a single dollar. "Cut The Rope 2: Om Nom's Quest" is a free iOS game and is also the version that got ported to Android. Really wish they'd port the paid version I'd happily spend a buck or two for that version as it's so much better imo. But that will never happen as it's an iOS exclusive.
Cut the rope 2 was almost unplayable if you didnt buy unlimited suns, many of the levels required absolutely spamming the restart button and you d lose all your suns literally in minutes, also the fruit ones (and a small amount of levels) i didnt have fun with, because most of the time there was no puzzle element, just trying it over and over until you get literally perfect timing. Some levels even if you know what the solution is, you still have trouble beating them purely because of struggling to get the perfect timing.
One thing about Cut the Rope Holiday Gift you should know is that it had a promotion with Paddington Bear The Movie (that was 9 years ago holy shi-). And if you set your date to december 2014 you can play this special version. No new content aside from a mode where you can place Om nom on promotional E Cards. Levels are the same too, just that the christmas themeing gets mostly replaced with Bear and Honey/Marmalade themeing. I'll let you decide if that makes it better or worse. I think it deserves to be bumped up to B tier.
Here's some more trivia. The reason why those fruit levels in CtR2 are so hard is because the levels weren't designed for them. Worlds used to be structured like the first 3 games. You had to collect stars to open other worlds. Worlds had 20 levels and 4 bonus levels. You could also collect clovers, as sort of a parallel to Snow Flakes in Time Travel. They unlocked those bonus levels. The 3rd challenge (the ones you did like) became available after 3 starring a level. The game had the subtitle of "Om Nom's unexpected adventure". And best of all no energy system either. The old version was so much better. While not better than the original, I'd put the old version in A tier (it's in a similar boat to Experiments)

I have an interesting memory about My Om Nom, while trying to get an achievment that did with 3 days in a row, I think of brushing Om Nom's teeth, I was getting ads for a game called Yo-Kai Watch, and it seemed interesting. @@Jake.Miller I was a pokemon fan, but now I am a diet one, mainly watching idiots talk about it. Because I got angry at the idiots who didn't relise that other monster RPGs could exist. And I have moved on to Digimon because it is cool.
Cut the Rope was my CHILDHOOD! I remember back in the day playing the first few games (Holiday Gift probably excluded). I don’t think I remember getting past the Mechanical Box in the original (I might have though), but I remembered playing before the Steam Box update and witnessed the addition of every box starting with that one. Experiments was solid aside from the time when the energy system was in it. Also, the water levels are mostly a mixed bag to me. Time Travel was a great concept and I remembered completing it prior to the addition of the Parallel Universe pack. The music that plays when a disco ball would block a laser was fun to listen to as well. Then I remember Cut the Rope 2 coming out and discovered TH-camr ZackScottGames via searching his videos on the game’s true version (which you didn’t cover, though I don’t blame you. I would likely put it in A Tier if I made such a list.). I wondered why the version I could get looked different (still solid, but not as good as the default version) and recently learned thanks to the comments. I agree the Fruit Medals were a pain to get without using power-up’s or hints, and the energy system in the free version was painful to deal with. I first heard of Cut the Rope Magic in early 2016 and decided to try it out and it was rather solid. I’d really like to go play it again someday. In regard to the spin-offs, I had no idea there was a CtR version of Bubble Witch, Subway Surfers, or Toy Blast. Honestly, I’m not sold on them, though I do remember watching a trailer for My Om Nom. I remember discovering the Remastered game and it honestly isn’t as good as the normal games. All in all, your tier list is accurate and I can agree with what you think. Just add the true version of Cut the Rope 2 in A and I’ll fully agree (until the release of CtR3).
There are still four games missing from your "classic" games playlist: "Kick the buddy", "Sling kong", "Pickcrafter" and "Clumsy ninja". There is also "Money farm".
What's ironic is that I was actually watching a danerade video where he does a retrospective on all the cut the rope games as a whole (If you know who danerade is then good job 👏)
I think you overstated how hard it is to play cut the rope daily... you can get the apps off of the normal app store as well, and logging into netflix isnt that bad of a hassle.
I'm gonna take a moment to brag and say I fully four-starred cut the rope time travel. (Aka just opened the game everyday hoping I got a telekinesis power up from the daily chest.)

I have an interesting memory about My Om Nom, while trying to get an achievment that did with 3 days in a row, I think of brushing Om Nom's teeth, I was getting ads for a game called Yo-Kai Watch, and it seemed interesting. So Om Nom is the reason I'm a Yo-Kai Watch fan. Meaning I would be decently different if I was a Rovio boy.
You might’ve been a **shudders** Pokémon fan
Just add the true version of Cut the Rope 2 in A and I’ll fully agree (until the release of CtR3).
cut the rope was such a good game, it’s ashame kids these days wont grow up with it
There are still four games missing from your "classic" games playlist: "Kick the buddy", "Sling kong", "Pickcrafter" and "Clumsy ninja". There is also "Money farm".
Next time could you Rank every Cut the Rope and Om Nom Merge characters please?
Jake, there is a new My om nom game developed by Peaksel games. Its called " My om nom - Virtual pet.
28:00 Nibble Nom came in the box to om nom's house just like om nom itself =\\
Cut the rope magic is probably my favorite because of the designs
2:58 the fellas at zeptolab also made that one game where you're a cat driving a giant vehicle ramming your vehicle into the enemy cat's vehicle
You mean C.A.T.S
You should definitely put Om Nom run in S tier
What's ironic is that I was actually watching a danerade video where he does a retrospective on all the cut the rope games as a whole (If you know who danerade is then good job 👏)
I’ve seen the video! He only talked about a couple o games though NOWHERE as in depth as THIS
20:50 "Be careful of this lava." [Turns intro a literal fire alarm]
Your next ranking classic mobile games should be the Where’s my water? series
Yes I agree
20:42 holy fuck homestar runner
JAKE IS ADORABLE
Haha so kawaii
@@Jake.Miller 🥰🤭😣😣
28:04 well baby Om Nom was found in a box so he is adopted (this was explained in Om Nom stories)
Jake: stop being creeps, kids
Also Jake: she is my slave now 💀👹
Here is time code 18:27
Double standard haha
I feel like I am the only person on the planet who has heard of Om Nom's Candy Factory becuase these types of videos never talk about them
No I saw it, it wasn’t made by Zeptolab and/or never officially released
Ohhhhh interesting
Fun Fact : Jeptolab just announced that tomorrow will be an announcement for what appears to be a new game 👀
Really?
@@Jake.Millernow it got announced
But it's another Apple Arcade exclusive
I think you overstated how hard it is to play cut the rope daily... you can get the apps off of the normal app store as well, and logging into netflix isnt that bad of a hassle.
I'm gonna take a moment to brag and say I fully four-starred cut the rope time travel. (Aka just opened the game everyday hoping I got a telekinesis power up from the daily chest.)
Well at least zeptolab is keeping the old games in game stores and isn't almost bankrupt like popcap or rovio (before sega bought them)
Very true
You: it’s mostly your fault doo
Doo: what did I do wrong tell me a whole explanation about it
I remember playing the heck out of My Om Nom while i was still very, VERY young and no joke, just seeing game footage of it made me cry
Wow it likes being reunited with an old friend
If we can learn a lesson from this video today, its that the pirate ship appropriately has captain candy beard and
B O M B S
I’ll never forget it
кто бы мог подумать, что пару парней из русской студии Zaptolab смогли подарить не просто кому-то, а целому поколению по всему миру детство. это так мило)
The best quote of this channel "GUYS I THINK OM NOM HAD SEX!"
Haha cmon I gotta have better quotes than THAT
this is now canon to jake miller lore
jk, OR IS IT? (vsauce sound noise music thingy)
Here’s the timestamp for it [ 27:59 ]
The date: my birthday
The video: Cut the rope
" With these valves you can control the steam"
Sounds similar to a rich company aint it
Haha I think that’s why they are called that buddy
My favourite were experiments and 2 because I have so many great childhood memories on them. The others are also great tho
If only you waited a few months before uploading the video, you could’ve talked about the newly released 3rd one
I did a separate video on that
Literally looked on apple arcade and see in coming soon cut the rope 3 lmao
I know they picked the perfect time to release it 🙄
I was gonna argue about the caveman being the best, but then I realized the only reason I want to is because I love them all to much to pick one.
I remember waiting for new boxes to get into the game
Om Nom Run on Play Games is the definition of eye cancer
Haha right there in the dictionary
