@Patrick Ancona Think about it, by lore a bottle cap is equal to a gallon of water and a stimpack costs 75 caps. The courier may have a bag full with stimms but the average Joe will rarely be able to afford even one.
I've watched this a few times now at least, and I've got to say, this was really well done. From all the little details, like the dust on the bottles in the bar, to the footprint in the dirt, to, well, everything. It was very well executed. Just like everyone else though, I wish there was more! Thank you for this production!
I got this in my recommendations recently and that prompted me to rewatch the whole series in chronological order. A couple thoughts on this: First of all, the elephant in the room... this isn't the James Eldrich and Scorpion we know from Nuka Break, but, I don't mind this change very much and I'll explain: James' actor actually did a pretty good job of portraying a younger version of the character, before Red Star and Nuka Break, before he even became the "ranger" - there's never any actual dates mentioned in the series, besides a vague nod to the year Fallout 1 takes place... so you could reasonably assume this is at least five or ten years before Red Star, and even longer before Nuka Break. If that's the case, this version of James - sans the beard and with a much younger face and voice, would fit into that timeline well. This could also be an in-universe explanation for why Scorpion looks so different, but i think in his case his character was just straight up retconned and turned into a Trevor-style psychopath with a bit of sadistic wit... in my opinion this was actually a great choice, because the original Scorpion was kinda just a generic insane tough guy, while this one really does feel like a raider, and he's also a perfect contrast for James, who is for the most part, a lawfully good person. One, smaller retcon I don't really like though is how he got the Ranger armor... in the original flashback clip, they implied he got the armor by winning it in a bar fight with someone who was presumably a real Ranger, or at least someone who had killed a Ranger - either way making the armor feel earned while also explaining why he has no ties to the NCR. In this version, he kinda just, finds it on a dead body after Scorpion killed him, much less impressive and it kinda ruins one of the coolest mysteries of the original character. I kinda wish they either just left the armor out completely, or they showed the original story of him beating one of Scorpion's goons wearing it. By the way, if you look at the armor in this and compare it to the other versions, you'll notice this one has the number 13, while the original had the number 08 on the chestplate... I think this was intentional, because the original design actually had a number 13 on the shoulder pads... the implication here is that sometime after this, but before Red Star, James replaced the damaged chestpiece with another incomplete suit, and kept the rest of the outfit... this, unlike the _other_ retcon, actually does fall in line with his established character and backstory really well... So well in fact that I'm having a hard time believing this was a mistake. Funnily enough though, while the original Nuka Break/Red Star outfit had number 13 on the helmet, this one appears to have number 19, so at some point he also replaced the helmet. I think the numbers on the helmet, chest and shoulder are supposed to be the police departments these suits were originally issued to, so I don't think it breaks the lore to assume he also replaced the helmet at some point, and it happened to be from the same department as his jacket.
Well let's also forget that ncr tax is high and he is probably was double dipping to make ends meet or that he wasn't an ncr ranger. Ethier way scropion killed him to not pay him. Sorry I didn't replay 2 years later but better late then never
