An awkward meeting between Sarah and Doc number 11 for sure. Considering they gave Sarah and Tennant's doctor the whole 'long lost love' romantic element, you could see that they couldn't just ignore it when 11 turns up, but at the same time had to underplay it because of Matt having a baby face as Jo put it :D . Was a bit weird!
Matt didn't really have the same chemistry with Sladen as Tennant did. Still not a terrible episode. I wish Capaldi could have had a few scenes with Sarah Jane though that would have been interesting.
Awesome to see Jo and Sarah Jane get to interact with Eleven. I think one of Smith's strong points was to act like a very old man while looking like a young one. That said, ChaosBOBOMB1, I agree with you on that Ace should really come back. Can you imagine here with the upcoming Capaldi Doctor? That would be magic!
Timeline of Finch: -In a past life, he rules House Frey and betrays the Starks before being killed himself -He then merges with William Hartnell and lives through his life -Lives in Newcastle along with the Ninth doctor from 1964-1995 -Then Finch becomes his true form, taking hold of a ‘familiar’ (aka his cat) before working at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry -Now he got polymorphed into a bird so he is taking out his anger on the doctor Damn.
Don't forget David Bradley also played Soloman (the space pirate/trader) in the 11th Doctor Story Dinosaurs on a Spaceship, although 11 killed him at the end of the episode.

Sushi Cat I'm very late, but... Somekind. Not totally. Core characteristics remain. For example, the Doctor's will to help the others, selfishness and his love for breaking social norm acting how he wants... The Master's crazyness and sociopathy... We've even seen that the General kept his/her aptitude for command and order...
Shortly after the change there can be...issues.. Like the time the Doctor attempted to murder his companion. Or how when Tennant took over he was kind of konked out bonkersy if you know what I mean? And how when Capaldi took over he was completely broken and had tobasically rebuild himself mentally. Then their overall personalities while having a core tend to have auxillary differences. Matt Smith's doctor for instancel oved to FLAIL wildly with his arms and have weird spinal spasms.
@Malk Von Batshit Well said. But my intent was to nod in the direction of his missing phallus, if I may be so blunt. I say "phallus" for the deep cross-cultural symbolic content of that word beyond the solely biological "penis" (say it fahl-loos with that Imperial Latin sound) -- possible Vedic analogue being Linga in Shaiva traditions -- and that all ties in with universal themes of masculine and feminine forces in various systems of traditional metaphysics. Screwing around with the genders and sexes of characters has consequences for the underlying circuitry of story telling. If you like C.G. Jung -- which I kind of don't -- the word archetypes could fit in here. The moves they have made send doctor who further into being a story which will not survive like literature and art that has stood the test of time. Further into being merely contingent and chaotic, adharmic.
the doctor warmly greeted sarah, but was oddly cold to jo. He's known Jo longer, had a surprising affection for her and was crushed at her wedding plans. He should, one assume, show the same level of emotion he reserves for Sarah Jane.
"Hello Sarah Jane" 3 words, it means nothing, but the way it's said is so perfect, it perfectly shows how important the actor playing the Doctor is. 11 is a Doctor who looks and acts young, but in that one read you can just hear the nostalgia and the subtle joy he has to see his old friend. It's the Doctor showing his age, it's him looking at this woman (who everyone would assume is his elder) and happily remembering the good old days
it's better than series 2, which featured an alien created by a 8 year old and a space ship power by love. And nearly every episode had to pander to Rose fans with the Doctor constantly talking about how important she was.
The only companion that didn't happen with was Martha. Every other companion was some sort of universally important space-time convergence waiting to happen. That part got really boring. It's like they made it "The Companion Show (guest starring the Doctor)"
@@JakkFrost1 martha was important, just a different sort of important, and "the companion show" is part of the reason I hate Clara as a character, she is NOT the most important person in the universe and the fact Moffat had such a hard on for his own character is sickening!@

@@JakkFrost1 - Not in the classic show. Wouldn't it be amazing, if when 12 regenerates, something goes wrong and 10, 11, and 12 all are together, and they bring back companions like Amy and Rory, and maybe some Donna, and Rose, for at least a season. Everyone in the world would have a simultaneous nerdgasm.
Nerdtrap Not as much stuck in the past, as l enjoy multiple Doctors and Companions, and would like to see what the show could do with all of these characters at once, but whatever floats your boat.
Matt has acknowledged the small amount of backlash (of course, every new Doctor has received some backlash of some sort) his casting got. I wonder what he feels about the fact that he has become just as adored and beloved as every other Doctor before him after what had to have been something of a rough transition, following the wildly popular David Tennant and coming on as a new Doctor with a brand new Companion as well (something that hasn't happened since the show came back). Damn. That's the question I should have asked him at Philly Comic Con
A lot of fans hate the new actor. Then they see a few episodes and realize they like this 'take' on the Doctor. It's the people who want actors to put their careers on hold and play the same three episodes for the rest of their lives that cause all the trouble.
You haven't seen DF's channel, have you? lol He has no love for Matt at all, and makes jokes at Matt's expense every chance he gets, including just yesterday with the announcement Matt will cross over to that galaxy far far away.

omg i just realized that. this is too funny
Fuck up
An awkward meeting between Sarah and Doc number 11 for sure. Considering they gave Sarah and Tennant's doctor the whole 'long lost love' romantic element, you could see that they couldn't just ignore it when 11 turns up, but at the same time had to underplay it because of Matt having a baby face as Jo put it :D . Was a bit weird!
Yeah, I never really liked the way this scene played out. There's no gravity or awestruck element at all. It's just very rushed.
Matt didn't really have the same chemistry with Sladen as Tennant did. Still not a terrible episode. I wish Capaldi could have had a few scenes with Sarah Jane though that would have been interesting.
@@quinnsinclair7028 I know right. Would've been nice.
R.I.P. Elisabeth Sladen.
I never thought it was Romantic, was Sarah Jane in love with the Fourth Doctor?
I didn't think it was romantic either but in School Reunion they sort of tried to retcon it by implying it was. Ugh *shudder*
That would be magic!
i love the way sarah jane says "doctor?" and then mate does that cute little smile. so sweet. hes such an amazin doctor x x
Timeline of Finch:
-In a past life, he rules House Frey and betrays the Starks before being killed himself
-He then merges with William Hartnell and lives through his life
-Lives in Newcastle along with the Ninth doctor from 1964-1995
-Then Finch becomes his true form, taking hold of a ‘familiar’ (aka his cat) before working at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry
-Now he got polymorphed into a bird so he is taking out his anger on the doctor
Damn.
Who's Finch?
Don't forget David Bradley also played Soloman (the space pirate/trader) in the 11th Doctor Story Dinosaurs on a Spaceship, although 11 killed him at the end of the episode.
wedge9t/wedgeclan I just want to point out Jo's grandson is Loras Tyrell.
I think he's the caretaker of Hogwarts in Harry Potter
StarwindAmada1 thata filch
"Hello, Sarah Jane" ~ Matt Smith channeling Jon Pertwee.
I just realized Jo Grant was in this.
It took a minute to register that voice. David Bradley.
Why is he always dying?! >:(
But Matt looks super good in this episode hur hur. Dat hair and dat shirt *A*
And they say Rory always dies.
For the doctor dying is just another day at the office
Ryosuke and the bow tie
I am so incredibly in love with this man it's not even funny
This aired BEFORE Impossible Astronaut. Amazing.
Matt is fantastic I don't get why you people don't like him.
Because there's always people to complain... And when he'll be gone, they will complain again. That's all...
never focus energy on hating and complaining. no one wins and everyone's hurt
I loved him in his first season and this episode, but after that he became too childish and dependent on others
Eh he had really big boots to fill. The contrast makes him seem worse than he actually is.
That was the writing. But watch him in Angels take Manhatten and Amy and Rory's vanishing and it is brilliant acting.
I love how Clyde, likely knowing nothing or very little of what was happening to him, realized that the Doctor was responsible and responded accordingly. "Doctor? DOCTOR!!"
It's amazing to think that Sarah Jane is the only other person besides the brigadier who has been along side the most incarnations of the doctor.
R.I.P Sarah Jane Smith...
The actress is dead, but the character still lives.
Juliet Fischer it’s still a shame that the series died with her and we’ll never get a proper conclusion to SJA
@@thedragonskull1065 - They had some plans for future episodes, including the return of bomb-making Ace.
And the Fourth Doctor.
@@julietfischer5056 they were going to do Four/Sarah audio dramas with Big Finish and I believe they were finishing negotiations about it before she passed away! waaahhhh! :(
I really loved this show.
That and there's no "Wrong" way to paly the Doctor.
The whole point is that when he regenerates his personality changes, I thought?
No, there's a pattern which was fine until recently butchered.
It _was_ fine, until chibnall stuck his foot in
@Malk Von Batshit Well said.
How to make a grown-ass man cry ... "Hello, Sarah Jane ...".
Sarah Jane is the best companion ever she saw the 3rd, 4th, 10th and 11th doctor. God bless her
and 1st 2nd and 5th
Awww the nostalgia is real😭😭😭😭
RIP Sarah Jane🙏🏽🙏🏼🙏🏾🙏🏻
I wish the ninth doctor met Sarah Jane
he is the only one, in all forms of media (well 12th as well) who never met her!
the doctor warmly greeted sarah, but was oddly cold to jo. He's known Jo longer, had a surprising affection for her and was crushed at her wedding plans. He should, one assume, show the same level of emotion he reserves for Sarah Jane.
I just realized...David Bradley (Argus Filch, William Hartnell, First Doctor) voiced that Shansheeth
great episode this couldve been an actual doctor who episode
It was written by the great Russell T Davies
Best quote ever
"My hands not white! "
Queen Shiro yes that’s awesome 😎
Interesting, when the actor from harry potter who played hartnels doctor is a bloody bird trying to kill another version of the doctor xd
David Bradley is every character in doctor who
He even tried to kill 11 as Solomon the Trader in "Dinosaurs on a Spaceship".
Argus Filch!
“Oh dear, we are in trouble.”
Walder Frey!
“I’ll find another!”
What I particularly loved about this episode was Jo's usual clumsy arrival - and Sarah Jane knowing who she must be from that alone!
"Hello Sarah Jane"
3 words, it means nothing, but the way it's said is so perfect, it perfectly shows how important the actor playing the Doctor is. 11 is a Doctor who looks and acts young, but in that one read you can just hear the nostalgia and the subtle joy he has to see his old friend. It's the Doctor showing his age, it's him looking at this woman (who everyone would assume is his elder) and happily remembering the good old days
Talented, brilliant, incredible, never been done before.
I remember watching this, just because of the doctor! It was a hood episode though :D
little odd that the first doctor is dressed up like a bird and trying to kill himself from the future
Both a masochist and sadist, a complicated one.
Ahahahahhaha
Sarah Jane has actually meet the 1st 2nd 3rd 4th 5th 10 & 11. She meet the 1st 2nd & 5th Doctor in the Five Doctors.
This brings back so much memories.glad this was recommended to me.
it's better than series 2, which featured an alien created by a 8 year old and a space ship power by love.
@@julieeverett7442 - Chucking Clara into the Doctor's timeline was a dumb way to introduce the War Doctor. There's no way to fit her splinters into various old episodes even as side characters (not when the two we saw had her face and name). As a trick by Missy, she wasn't well-used, and she was allowed to get away with so much. She was a potentially good character ruined by her creator.
@@julietfischer5056 agreed, he made her more important than everyone, including the doctor, which is why I despise her, and always will
@@JakkFrost1 - Not in the classic show. They were traveling companions and friends, audience surrogates (and eye-candy), but not cosmic linch-pins or anything other than good people who'd do what was necessary to assist the Doctor, whether it was escaping the Daleks or getting between him and a homicidal alien.
@Tolly7249
You're not the only one. Sarah Jane got to experience the Doctor thru FOUR of his incarnations, making her the greatest companion ever.
PaulMichaels2010 7 if you count The Five Doctors
Sarah Jane was a shit companion
@@leiwolf27 um did you watch classic who, or are one of these infants who have only seen new who?
julie everett haven’t been called an infant since the 80s. I remember both bakers, Davidson, McCoy and McGann first time round, was a fan of the first 3 doctors as well. Read the comics in the 80s, heard the audio stories and read the books in the 90s.
So me not liking Sarah Jane stems from the 3rd and 4th Doctor. I didn’t like her personality, didn’t much care for Jo Grant either but I liked Liz Shaw.
The actress that played Sarah Jane did a great job and she’s goes great with the 4th doctor however I didn’t like the character. It’s the same with the 10th doctor. David Tennant played him brilliantly but I didn’t like the personality of the 10th doctor.
@@leiwolf27 ok you just surprised me, there are very few people who say they dont like sarah jane, they seem to be young people who have only seen new who and think Rose Tyler is the best thing ever - hence my comment. And I agree with 10th I found him rather bland!
i miss Matt, he was a great doctor and he's been gone for like 8 years 😢
It'll be 6 years this Christmas.
Like how this show ran with Doctor Who.
Also this is the one time RTD wrote 11, and it's a treat.
Miss Lis greatly. 😢
SJA was incredible and had the best villain in all of Nu-Who, The Trickster. Please RTD, bring it in to the main show now!
I was literally thinking of this moment an hour ago. TH-cam is reading my mind
Same...
I just love how 11 does stuff without thinking. Lol. Like what he did with Clyde😂😂😂😂😂
Love this part.
Love the show
Love lis
R.I.P.
I absolutely love how, no matter the incarnation, the doctor always calls our Sarah Jane's voice with such tenderness...
It's a lovely little scene that ticks so many geek boxes for young and old fans alike.
I wonder who said hello Sarah Jane better 10th or 11th?
3rd
4th
Okay. Thank you both for reminding everyone the classic series exists, but to answer the actual question. 10th.
10
10th, no contest.
Stuck in the past sir, move along now.
Nerdtrap Not as much stuck in the past, as l enjoy multiple Doctors and Companions, and would like to see what the show could do with all of these characters at once, but whatever floats your boat.
Charlie Manning Whatd you think of Twice Upon a Time?😂
IT’S NOT NICE TO PLAY WITH MY EMOTIONS LIKE THIS
Please, no more Rose. The universe can't take any more of her whining.
Omg I didn't realize that Ironfist and GOT actor started in this
You got a little Dark Crystal in my Doctor Who.
It's strange coming back years later and suddenly recognizing Loras Tyrell just standing in the background.
Matt Smith played the Doctor amazingly. Still my favourite Doctor
Who's DF? I can't remember.
Savagewolfling Doc Freedom
@@ChristopherUSSmith thanks
Sarah Jane always knows...so sad she is gone :(
YES! This was the pinnacle of my childhood 🤩
I love everytime 10th and 11th see Sarah Jane they’re just like “Hello Sarah Jane”
With a soft voice
Wouldn't it just be brilliant for Jo Grant to appear with Twelve?
2:26 *Iron Fist*
"The Immortal Iron Fist, protector of the mystical city of K'un L'un, is still a thundering dumbass"
Also Loras tirell
Oh shit I didn't know he was in doctor who
Elizabeth Sladen did not change much over the years, she still looked almost the same. Of course when she gets her own show she finds out she has cancer. All I can say is Fuck Cancer.
ah, this doctor was the master of the situational understatement
"...Just like the old days"
"...yeah, I can't count all the chase scenes we filmed in this BBC corridor when were filming Doctor Who back in the early '70s"
