Awesome Job. I redone my 1950 8N years ago after dad gifted it to me . Still have it and use it. I got to laugh it kills me to not do my best and not have the satisfaction of it. Cars, trucks, motorcycles anything. But that's what built America.
You did a really nice job! All 4 of you isn’t it nice that all the parts are still available for these tractors I have restored more than I can count! I got to the point where I am winding down so I have three 8N Ford tractors. Two are side distributor models I want to restore one to showroom condition and one to be my work horse with a minor restoration and I might keep the front mounted distributor just because I like having the two examples. Ford and Farmall and even some Massey Harris models are just tough practical and beautiful tractors I appreciate everyone who wants to preserve that beautiful old iron! God bless you and your family Carry on!🚜🇨🇦
Good Job Young Fella. I found your site this morning and have been watching a few of the videos. Nice family adventure and many interesting moments. I have been working on a 1948 Ferguson TE20 for two years now. This was my retirement project. Finding engine parts has been entertaining. Hopefully this summer the "Little Grey Fergie" will be running with a few more restoration issues to work through. TTFN/CDC
About to undertake this same thing on my great grandfather's 1959 601 workmaster we're about to get a hold of. I didn't realize they painted them with all the components on at the factory. I saw some other youtubers do that, but I agree that taking it a part not only gives for a better finish and resilience than factory, but you get the chance to look at the parts more closely and check for defects. I may deviate from period colors and go for Ford blue and white, but I'm not 100% on that just yet. Glad to see what I have to look forward to! Fantastic video, thanks for sharing!
Really nice job on the old/ new Ford 8N. Thanks for taking the time to video the process. Brings back recent memories of the rebuild of my 1952 Ford 8N!
Glad you like them! We've had a few videos we started that have gathered so much dust they become outdated! Keeping up with work, the family farm, and the kids is a challenge!
Looks great! I will be painting the chassis of my 1949 soon. All of the sheet metal is done, then I'll just have to remember how to put it all back together. May be a little late now, but the patent plate on the battery box is replaceable. They are available from Dennis Carpenter or Just8ns. Enjoy your videos!
Thanks! Good luck with yours! It can be a challenge to get everything reassembled. My wife labeled bags with which bolts went to which components. That helped a lot. She wasn't around when I took out the grease zerks and I am not actually sure where I put them!
What paint did you use, looks great! I know you mentioned industrial paint from Napa but do you have a brand name and particular colors? I have a 1950 8N that’s going to need to be restored.
We usually let them show their age but decided we wanted to try restoring this little one. It was quite the project and took a long time. At least we got the painting done before the temperatures dropped for winter!

Wow! Wow! You've got some mad skills.

All blue with white grille, fenders, and wheels is pretty hard to beat! For the 601's I prefer the hood matching the engine color for some reason.

Turned out great, Simon!
