    Great review again Kon. The way you explain, choice of words, the phrasing and speed, there are just spot on. The fact that you also added video footages in between made it even more informative.
    On the review I totally agree that the interior of this LCI is a mixture of traditional and future design philosophy, which suffers at both the design as well as function (eg no gear nob, no physical climate control button and the main thing that my eyes cannot accept yet is the stacking up of the long rectangle tablets looking infotainment screen, instead of nice trapezoid integrated one like pre-facelifted version).
    Keep up the good work Kon. Looking forward for your reviews for other G20 LCI as well such as 320i, M340i, Li version, with/without adaptive M sport suspension.

    Kudos Kon! Very good and informative review of the G20. Presentation and description is more thorough while no holds barred comments was a surprising inclusion. Hope BMW doesn't ban you from testing their cars in the future...ha!ha! However, reviewers should not be afraid to tell it like it is unlike some famous local websites, cari makan I suppose. Makes one have better view of the investment that they are going to make as the G20 is not Proton/Perodua cheap. Keep on improving, bro! (I have subscribed now)

    Kon is spot on with the review here. When i was deciding then, it was an obvious choice for me to go with the 320i (2022 Pre LCI G20) over the 330i due to the latter's harsh ride. Even the BMW Genie rep in one of the BMW 3S outlet opine the same thing.
    Sense that the coming 330i with adaptive may just ride as well as the 5s which are on the adaptive dampers.

  • @sudonano

    Glad to see you back with the reviews! Fully agree, to be honest I think the G20 is so good that it actually showed how the F30 was not that sharp nor that well made - especially compared to the E90 (handling) and the A4 B8/B9 (quality). What’s so impressive is how the G20 is so perfect in quite literally every way, and not only that, represents a huge step up in terms of reliability as well. The B48 is truly up there with one of the best modern turbo 4 cylinder petrol engines in the last 10-20 years IMO especially when factoring performance, economy and reliability.
    It’s funny because I would have said the B9 A4 pre facelift actually felt competitive against the pre-facelift G20, but alas the subsequent updates Audi did to the styling and the removal of the controller for the MMi have made the A4 not as good anymore. The B9 was a decently good car to drive, better than the C class and arguably slightly better than the F30 but no where close to the G20.

    • @KonWaiLuen
      @KonWaiLuen  ปีที่แล้ว

      I was never gone, but slowed down a bit recently, yes, for a bit of self-reflecting.
      The F30's biggest weakness, in my opinion was its interior. Really not premium feeling. Next to the W205, in terms of perceived value, no contest, even though it was more solidly built, the F30 thoroughly lost the perception test.
      Regarding the B48 engine, it is, no question, a big leap from the N20. In terms of reliability, refinement, and power delivery, every way superior. You can really feel that BMW built the B48 out of much sterner stuff than the N20.

    • @sudonano
      @sudonano ปีที่แล้ว

      @@KonWaiLuen ahhh I see!
      Yes, fully agree while the F30 (especially the LCI) had good enough quality, they did do some weird design choices (the removable tray was truly… a choice). Not only that, I recall the lowest spec models that were initially brought in as a CBU were truly poverty, and even in the first few years of CKD it felt cheap. Was considering to pick up a 328i GT but the poor quality put it off.

Also test drove a pre-owned 320i pre-LCI to compare and did notice a difference in the ride quality between the two models. Ended up putting down a booking fee for the facelift 320i LCI as I preferred getting a newer car with the full warranty package vs pre-owned one with much shorter warranty package. 330i with adaptive M sport suspension was out of my budget.

      From what I read of international reviews and also official press materials, BMW were very proud of their passive suspension setup, and I cheered them on for that because getting passive suspension to do everything right is not easy. Requires a lot of tuning effort.

    The M sport suspension is a weird one. I think you need to really consider on what kind of roads you are going to use it. Most fora however, seem to agree if you want to stop the worry wether it is going to be too hard and you going to feel sorry: install Eibach springs with Bilstein dampers on the m sport suspension. Tier 2 is install a KW V1 set. A KW V2 or a V3, or if you really want to go crazy: Ohlin suspension, you will never worry about suspension again and finishes this more or less perfect car. Having said that: I just wont spent so much money on a much cheaper Tesla like dashboard shape, wich then seems fitted with a cheap LCI and ridiculous graphics. Pre-LCI still does it for me. Lets see what update 2 for the G20 brings in 6 months time. Great review!

    I currently own the 330e F30. Other than changing my aux battery every 6 months the car has been great. Now with the warranty from BMW gone and BMW did actually offer me trade in, should I keep my current car or upgrade to the G20?
    If I were to upgrade do you think I should get the 320i or the 330i? I don't mind other people opinion on what version of BMW I drive. I just want to know if the 30k extra for the 330i is worth the money. Or do you think i should skip the 3 series and go for the 5 which is at the end of it life cycle and probably get a good deal from the dealer?

      I'll meet you halfway on this. There is firm, and there is hard. Yes, you want a bit of firmness to help contain the roll and keep the body planted to the ground, but on road, you need that pliancy so that on uneven surfaces, the suspension has enough travel to keep all four wheels touching the road!
