Same here. I’m turning 35 this year and I grew up listening to her. I was 13 when I got her first album and was immediately obsessed with her. I have a picture of me holding up her second album in my hands on my 15th birthday with the most ecstatic look on my face. That second album really pulled me through some rough days during that period. I went through different phases during each album release. Like her third album with Girlfriend came out a couple months before I turned 18 and I had barely started driving

One thing Avril has always done exceedingly well throughout her career are acoustic and ballad versions of her songs. They never dissapoint.
To slow this song down and sing acoustic just shows what a class act Avril is. And also hats off to Mod-son and his production team to recognise that Avril is not just about punk rock.

I like this production a lot more. Even with slower tempo and less instrumentation it's more intense.
She could also make a 3rd version with more electronics to move even further away from traditional rock and I would be really happy 😀

I know... I'm 35 years old and pretty open to ANY music as long as my heart vibrates for it. And I agree with you. NOBODY else can do music like her. I've heard a couple of copycats that I wont name here.. But no, she makes me feel strong emotions and her voice... Her voice has never been that sweet and strong at the same time. And it seems she masters it way better now.
She did say she herself feels like her vocals were even stronger than before after her recover from Lyme. Haha maybe its because she didnt use it that much for 2 years ? Idc, but man.. Her live performances are SO GOOD. Especially the intimate one where she sits down and focus on the singing.

Wdym she didn’t change her sound? She literally released head above water and so many people HATED it because it didn’t sound like the Avril they all knew and grew up to. Real fans stayed with her through all the ups and downs, even when people were spreading that fake rumors that the real Avril died and she was replaced smh. She’s already grown up from our pop punk princess to our pop punk queen. I hope people realize that people grow up and they could change too.

The absolute heartbreak behind the song slips through in the acoustic. The "bite" is far sharper, painful, raw. "Go ahead, bite me, I dare you" but acknowledges the bite still hurt

@@annefdennis Not that young, she's 37 so not far off being classified middle-aged in numerical terms but I guess Avril is a great example of age just being a number as she looks at least 15 years younger then her actual age.
I love Avril's voice and punky character, but her youthfullness is not a miracle: it's money invested in surgery. She has clearly had a rhinoplasty and already a few botox injections (nasolabial folds and forehead).
Add a professional hairdresser and make-up and you have the recipe for young beauty... for some decades.

1 thing I've always loved about Avril's music is, the fact that she has the guts to say what she wants to & needs to, with no problem, what so ever.
