I think the sleeves are a great idea. But they are a bit pricey. I can see getting them for a few highly valuable albums maybe, but not the whole collection. I'm glad you present lots of record care products so people know what is available. With the cost of vinyl records these days we all want to see all the stuff out on the market to protect and preserve our collection.

love the new t-shirt you have on Frank- I must get me one soon. I also love those vinyl sleeves for gatefold albums, getting them out of single pocket pouches is always a pain. Great show and have a good weekend -keep on spinnin !!

Been getting these sleeves from a local record shop for the last couple of years. Fantastic. Due to the price I only get them for those with amazing gatefold pictures. I have a few with pointless ones but bands like Maiden always do great gatefolds
I was in HMV a while ago and asked if they did them and was told they don't exist....when I have about 2 dozen at home!

I purchased these gatefold sleeves as soon as they were in stock again, and I'm very happy with them. The extra wiggle room is to fit the slightly larger record jackets from Analogue Productions and MoFi. I can confirm that they do work very well for these and make them look fantastic. Great quality as always from VSS. I need to buy more.

I remember buying "Decade of Decadence" as soon as it was released. "Dr. Feelgood" was my intro to the band, and they were my favourite band at the time, so I remember being super-excited to hear it. I loved the new tracks, especially "Primal Scream"!

I bought decade of decadence on cassette back in '91. I lost it or something but I have another copy on tape I found possibly at a goodwill or thrift shop. Vinyl would be cool. I like them outer sleeves for gatefolds!
ive been using 2 regular 4mil dual pocket resealable sleeves for gatefolds; works great! these new tuckable ones seem good too but yea too pricey!
I sold my cassette of Decade of Decadence and Dr. Feelgood years ago. Now I'm regretting it. I love Primal. Scream! 😉
Frank I shop at Vinyl Frontier from time to time. Its about an hour and a half drive for me. And yes, his store is well stocked!!

VSS quality is out of this world. I just bought and received the gatefold sleeves the other day in the mail. The old way was ok of using two tape sleeves for gatefolds but they seemed to Krinkle in the middle. So I’ve been really looking forward to this!

Had that Motley Crue on cassette and cd back when it came out. Great album. Always pissed me off that they left off “Too Young To Fall In Love” though. Could’ve replaced Anarchy. Love those sleeves. But they take Forever to fulfill an order. Once he ships it, it’s fast but… we’re talking a month wait for them to even get it to the post office for shipping here to the US. Thought their switching to a fulfillment service or whatever would help but nope. Anyway great video Frank 👍

Love VSS. I use there double pocket with tuckable flap. The only reason I don’t use the gatefold sleeves is I prefer storing the actual record outside of the jacket and don’t like side loading.
Mikes products are great. I may need to inventory gatefolds and place an order if warranted.
I just got this Motley vinyl bootleg of Generation Swine. They did a great job and added all the bonus tracks of the era. It's done so well, when Elektra finally does release this legit, it will likely be inferior. Now I've gotta get a bootleg of New Tattoo with bonus tracks. I was smart enough to grab the 94 self-titled import vinyl at a record convention way back
You had it. Carol (like the name) ton. It’s just west of Atlanta. Not familiar with the Vinyl Frontier, though they started up only a year or so before we moved to Ontario.
I bought these Gatefold sleeves from VSS too. They are great. One album I have always wanted to protect and found it difficult was The Beastie Boys Pauls Boutique. I have the 20th anniversary pressing and if you have seen this record its a single album but the gate unfolds 4 times. So I used the gatefold for the center to panels and then the 4mil double pockets on the outer panels. It protects it really well and looks really sharp.

I'm using 2 sealable version for gatefold albums. I'm making gatefold sleeves with them.
I need outer sleeves for trifolds or triple gatefolds, or whatever they are called.
Went to order these after this video and they are already Sold Out. Wow.

Great choice for record of the week Frank! Primal Scream and the hugely underrated Angela are the last two great original 4 Motley tracks in my book. My copy did not include that cool poster. There is a great 12" single of Primal Scream, Dancing on Glass and 2 live tracks also from that era-i loved the album art and had to have it. Sadly mine was missing the patch. Its a gatefold though and looks killer. Merry Christmas!
That 12” of Primal Scream is really nice, but I have always wondered why they did that as a gatefold but not the Decade of Decadence since it was a 2 lp set. The back patch that came with the 12” is of course cool to have but it’s kinda boring design wise.
Man... I am glad you brought up the patch. I swore I had one with this record but I couldn't find it when I opened it for this video. I figured I had imagined a patch, but now I am wondering where it went...

I have "decade old decadence " on CD! Great album, wish they would reissue it in the LP format!
I am kinda surprised they haven't reissued that one. Crue seem to keep reissuing Greatest Hits, but DOD is better IMO.

Decade is the only Crue album I'm missing on vinyl. I do have a cool 12" single for Primal Scream though.
I think MC's Saints Of Los Angeles was surprisingly good also btw! I never seeked out Decade Of Decadence since I have all the Crue essential albums already. I might look into those gatefold sleeves if they get cheaper (and as long as they don't slide off when getting the record out of the shelf)
I am going to have to revisit SOLA. I thought the title track was great, along with Down at the Whiskey. But it's been awhile since I've spun that one.
What would you recommend for the paper inside the vinyl to protect it. For example weird! Yungblud album is white and it came with a paper sleeve in it that had artwork and information on it

Huh... cool! Not around here. There were no outer sleeves on library records - so they got pretty beat up pretty fast.
I thought Mötley Crüe self titled from 94 was great, incredible sound and production, some of their heaviest riffs, great songwriting, and Tommy Lee's performance was some of his best, I wish they would've continued with that sound when Vince Neil came back
I agree it's a good album... to me, it just wasn't Crue. But a solid release, nonetheless.
The self titled album from 94 is far and away my favorite Crue album.
Motley's album with Corabi may not sound much classic Crue, but I still listen to far more than any other album of theirs -- including Shout.

Whether or not you consider the self-titled Motley Crue album with John Corabi a true Crue album, I always really dug it. I also had (and still have somewhere) a bootleg video of studio outtakes of them recording the album. I’m assuming they were filming it for a possible home video release, but the album pretty much flopped commercially so nothing came of it. That said, I have that album on vinyl and never in a million years would I have guessed that would end up being my most valuable single album in my collection! I bought it probably 15 years ago for under $10, just because I liked it. I had no idea it was only released on vinyl in Germany and South Korea. How the heck a copy ended up in Kentucky, of all places, I have no idea.
It's a solid album.

I love that Mötley Crüe compilation and the Self Titled album with John Corabi, that album kick a** it have a great dirty guitar and drum tones. 🤘In the early 90's "Decade..." was one of the first 20 cassettes I ever bought as a teenager back in 1990-'91, then I bought it again but in the CD long box version and still have it, the booklet is a little creased in some corners but the rest is ok, CD are in VG condition.
Then if the Self Titled album "are not" a Mötley Crüe album, then any Sabbath album with Dio or any other singer aren't a Sabbath album?, what about Iron Maiden's The X Factor and Virtual XI? Judas Priest with Ripper Owens? or any KISS album after 1980? 🤔😲
I probably used the wrong words (as I often do) but 94 is certainly an outlier. I dig it (Power to the People!) but for me, it just wasn't Crue without Vince.
And Vince Neil's Exposed is MC album too😂

Hi-You mentioned you dont use these on every gatefold album. What do you use for your other gatefold albums. I purchased two popular brands of sleeves and neither fit for double gatefolds.
I use the Vinyl Storage Solutions dual pocket sleeves. You can use 2 together, and still see the gatefold. Alternatively, you can sleeve them regularly (most gatefolds will fit ok).
VSS is legit.
I have this type too but dosen't work for tri panel gate folds

That is a '76 Canadian pressing. I think the 1970s Canadian pressings of Destroyer were gatefolds, but the US pressings were not (I could be wrong about that - but that is my recollection).

New York state yes (Buffalo, Rochester) but not NYC (yet). Traveling changed when we had kids... there have been lots more all-exclusive resorts in Mexico lol
In my opinion Motley Cure’s best album is Doctor Feelgood. There’s not a bad song on that album.
you shouldnt release these Friday videos until Friday evening, that way I can kick back and relax instead of watching them at work, always looking over my shoulder.....lol
Haha! I'm glad you're watching em! I used to put the Friday vids out later, but it became too late for viewers in the UK and Europe (it was already Saturday morning). This gives more people a chance to catch it on Friday (except for those in Australia, who still get it on Saturday). Save it for when you get home... Friday Night Vinyl goes great with your beverage of choice and no boss around :)

Nice sleeves, but the price is wack.. If I heard right, $25 for 10 of those, or something like that? Then there's shipping here to the states. Eff that. I'd need 50 of them minimum to be worthwhile, so a 10 pack would be a waste of time. I'll just stick with what I have, at least for the moment. Nevertheless, Thanks for showing them! Nice to know there's options out there.
Yeah, they are not cheap - but the quality seems good (and they are made in Canada, rather than China). I would love to do all my gatefolds with these, but it is cost prohibitive.

Recently placed my first bulk order for 500 sleeves based on yours and the 45rpmAudiophile channels recommending them. If Mike could do something to bring shipping costs down (even them distribute via Am*z*n?), I'd buy even more and re-sleeve my entire collection.
Mine is easy, i was at my local store and they had an original press pantera power metal record, the cover was beat up a lil but vinyl was perfect, he asked $50 bucks but was skeptical, so i had to use the bathroom, so i kinda hid it, decided to buy it came out of the bathroom n it was gone someone must of been watching me...n took it, sucked
The price is not necessarily that different from the 4ml dual pockets sleeves. You have to remember that the gatefold sleeve is the equivalent to using 2 dual pockets to make a gatefold sleeve, so the price is similar and overall a better product for gatefold sleeves. Re. The other comment about the other brand being much cheaper, I’d be willing to bet the quality and clarity is not the same.
Yeah you usually get what you pay for (quality, and not made in China).

I hate to say it Frank but you friends gatefold covers are identical to the ones Bags Unlimited have been selling for several years... right down to the instructions for using two pieces of paper to help insert your album. Theirs are 3 mil but they come in a pack of 25 for $21.23 USD.
I didn't know Bags sold those as well. Their shipping rates to Canada are crazy, but I'll definitely take a look. Thanks!
I took at look at the Bags Unlimited gatefold sleeves. Nicely priced, but they don't appear to be made of that same sharp, crystal-clear material (or are they - it's hard to tell on the website??). If you have tried them @no stress brewing, please let me know. Thanks!
That's a 3 mil POLYETHYLENE product. Very inexpensive material. Their Mylar is very similar to cast polypropylene is $74.43 USD for 10 sleeves, where I'm at $20.25 USD before quantity discounts. That is a true comparison of quality materials. Neither have dust sealing flaps. However, both are good products.
@@Channel33RPM I've been using them for a little over 2 years. They are very clear and as sturdy as any other 3 mil cover.
@@vinylstoragesolutions177 The BU product holds up very well. Inexpensive material or not they do what they are intended to do. As for flaps, I would just end up cutting them off so that is a moot point.
The bottom line is I can get 25 BU covers for the price of 10 VSS covers. The difference in savings is the price of a new album.
That is ridiculously expensive for an outer sleeve, even if it is a specialty item for gatefolds. I was interested when I saw it but was out as soon as you revealed the price
$22.50 to ship 10 sleeves to Oregon. --OUCH!
Simply don't like the flaps; cutting them off seems risky considering the unit price.

Yes, not cheap. I couldn't afford to use them on all my gatefolds. That said, it appears to be a quality product, and it is made in Canada rather than China (from what I understand, Chinese manufacturing is much cheaper, but... well, it's also China...).
@@Channel33RPM They do look nice, and I may pick some up as my current strategy to use 2 mofi sleeves for gatefold with 2 disks is a hassle. One for gatefold and the other to store disks... Always apreciate the content!
