@@WillyMcCoy50 Naw, they waited for a lot of the hard stuff to get finished, will finish it themselves and sell it. They're a business looking to make money, no way they crushed it.
Jim Agnew or awesome point in the video because he trusted Chris and I mean it does look much straighter after the fact. It doesn’t need to be perfect, if it did it would go to the frame jig. Oscar needs to respect Chris’s timeline too, Chris is the founder and CEO of BIFB after all 🤷🏻♂️
I've been watching you since the Vette-Kart build knowing pretty much nothing about how cars really work, and the reason I still click on a new video as soon as I see it, is because almost two years and about ten builds later I am still learning a shitload every single video. Thank you guys :))
I have a lot of frame work done that way. I realized the less you think about it and just do it it turns out almost perfect every time.... if you have to use a come a long. So it’s a controlled pull. Glad you guys saved the time and the money that would of been 500 bucks at the shop minimum. Now that’s more you can add to the build.
Love this! Same way I fixed my 1975 Honda Civic's bent front bumper in high school. Strapped the bumper to our motorhome's trailer hitch, put some slack in the line, and threw it in reverse a few times. Good enough!
I once used my tractor as a 5000 pound slide hammer to straighten an Escort that had been caved in from the back. Chained the front of it to a big steel post in the ground. It worked remarkably well..:)
That's ace, got to love back yard/bush mechanics. I used a similar way to pull my bull bar back out after wiping out a kangaroo at 110 kmph, recovery strap around a nearby tree and onto the bar work and then reverse until it was square again. Worked a treat.
Mike Robertson yikes, I imagine that was frightening! Glad your car made it out unscathed, other than the bull bar. Did you have a burial for the kangaroo? 😬😉
@@ALittleBitOfGay Surprisingly not that frightening at all, the big bugger jumped into the road at night (in the Bush out there it is pitch black) so I switched the lights off and on in the hope of unstartling it, I couldn't swerve either as it was trees one side and a big coach coming from the other direction so poor skippy came off worse. All that in about 20 seconds. No burial though, pulled to the side of the road, I'm sure the dingo's and the many, many flies made a feast out of it.
Good tool to pull frames but its a slow process. Use chain binders. They are chain pullers to tide down construction or machinery to be towed using 3/8-1/2 inch chains. They are manual ratcheted style but to make work it work sometimes you need 2-3 binders to pull together from different point. I believe they are your better shot at pulling the frame. And the best tide down is trees to pull. We pulled a vw golf racecar frame using bidders, hammers and map torch to heat some spots lightly. We did it in 2 hours and no pulling while driving. Just experienced tow truck and construction equipment haulers.
I think Oscar's car is going to be badass! Kyle's car is already in pretty good shape and Chris's is I don't know yet but if his car is actually going to be like the drawing it's going to be EPIC!
You might be able to use the front frame rails and apron from the 60's mustang and graft it onto the late chassis, that would help with front-end mounting.
You might look into building yourself a frame dozer they are pretty simple and cheap to build and work pretty well my father fixes transport vans for a company and recently built himself one and uses it quite a bit to pull inner structures from collisions when needed and saves $$ to not have to send stuff off to a frame rack!!!
Oscar can totally just build a pulling machine in just a few hours, my dad already built two in kind of a T, L shape in the garage without much welding experience and in a couple of days for him without many tools and a cheap welding machine from Harbor. My point is he already fixed like a dozen cars successfully and has even received offers for the second one. With you guys' skills and resources, you could go offboard with this approach but then it would take too much time. Something simple and quick I think by all means would do the trick, and the pulling motion would be sustained and way more controlled as you know (: Cheers! Enjoy your vids.
Next time you might try using wood cribbing/block under the frame to keep the suspension from compressing and give you more leverage and stability to pull.
Yall need a shipping container, Not only good for storage, they are also a massive steel immovable anchor you car run hand winches to and pull like this. you can even put the car inside it and pull to the door frame for very precise work.

It's not hard to imagine a chain hoist on a big branch to lift the motor you just have to move the car away from the engine instead of pulling the engine lift away.
