How to paint dot mandalas with Kristin Uhrig #36- Dragonfly Daisy

This shorter tutorial will show you an overview of the design process I went through as I made a dot mandala painting combining a dragonfly and a daisy. Instead of focusing on the right tools or the right paints, it is good to think in broader terms from time to time when trying to put your own vision to canvas. Think about the predominant shapes that you want to repeat, and how that can be expressed in a segmented design. Think about the different effects you can get with small dots like subtle shading, or with large dots bringing out surprising areas of changing color!

Oh wow! Another stunning mandala. Stiil waiting for my dotting tools to arrive from China - can't wait to get started. If I can do something half as good as this I will be a happy bunny. Unreal! I'm amazed at how even and precise those dots are. I don't know that I could ever keep them so even but it's fascinating to watch you do it. The dots look like jewels.

There was a video that you posted a couple weeks back of a mandala that had all the colors of the rainbow with many shades of orange & yellow. I loved it so much and saved the video to watch later as I wanted to try painting it. I bought some paints and am waiting for a canvas to arrive in the mail. I went back to watch the video again and now the video shows up that it is private. Will you be posting it again?

Beautiful design! I love your work and you have inspired me to take up dotting as a hobby. I have a question: Do you feel the best tools are the ones that have metal at the end like the stylus or the ones that are plastic like from happy dotting company? I bought a set of tools that came with both from a different company and tried them out. The plastic ones didn’t work as well, but I’m wondering if it was because my paint was too thick. Kristin tiene varios videos (todos excelentes) probando distintas herramientas que pueden ayudarte! Saludos desde Venezuela y espero pueda ayudarte esta información.
