- This tutorial will show you how to dot paint a mandala on a 12 x 12 canvas in spicy Chai tones of brown, cinnamon, cayenne, gold, and cream. It is intermediate in difficulty. All tools and paints are listed below.

12 x 12 gallery stretched canvas, Artists' Loft Level 2
Yard stick or large ruler
General's Charcoal white pencil
Liquitex Professional pouring medium- fluid gloss
Liquitex Professional Iridescent medium- fluid
Krylon Kamar Varnish spray
1 inch, clear plastic paint cups with lids- Hobby Lobby
small paint brushes
wide sponge brush

Spicy Chai Iced Latte
Two cups brewed oolong tea
1/4 cup Half-n-Half
1 cup Unsweetened Almond milk
1/4 teaspoon Cinnamon
1/4 teaspoon Chinese Five Spice
1/8 teaspoon pumpkin pie spice
1/4 teaspoon vaniila
dash of cayenne pepper
Stevia to sweeten to taste
mix well in a blender and pour over ice.
Sip all day.
These spices are good for your heart,

Stretched canvasses that have dent in it can be fixed quite easily. Spray a bit of water in the dent and rub into canvas then dry it with a hairdryer or put ouside in sunlight. Once dry the canvas will be nice and stiff again. Hope this helps someone

This was my very first mandala and my first one on canvas and your instructions were perfect! I had to run out and grab some of the glossy medium to thin out the colors and it worked beautifully! I wish I could post a photo of my finished product, but it came out great! I’m gonna do another one right away. It was so peaceful and brought me so much joy! Thank you for sharing your talent!!!!!
Wow, I'm impressed! I'm still working on my practice cardboard.!! So hard to get it all uniform and eye pleasing. I have noticed that the whole project looks way better when you get finished. Not so over thinking the tiny details.
@@elizabethjuell723 I became quite good at making mandala and even sold most of mine to friends on Facebook who liked the work I shared. Pretty cool because it enabled me to buy more paints and things to paint on. It’s much easier to sit on hard surfaces than paper or canvas. I used to put a wooden plant behind my canvas so it didn’t bounce as much while working in it. You could easily take a ream of paper, cut it to size, and tape it together to fit in most canvases. I like the cheap ones at Michael’s that come 10 in a pack sized 10” or 12” square. Also, white chalk pencil is helpful for laying down basic line structures which help keep your work evenly spaced.

Hi, I just did this one again with Marks mandala tools vs a couple years ago with the other tools and what a difference it made in Rae and precision! It is so beautiful, please do more of this pattern in other colors and also more lessons with his wonderful tools.

Loved your tutorial! To stretch your canvas you can buy wood chips that you can place between the canvas and frame and that takes care of it. I saw this done in another painting tutorial, from another artists that paint only on canvas, I thought this is something good to know. Thanks again for all your wonderful tutorials😊
