What was cool was that the Actress knew this from the beginning . . . Think back to the crash of the Byzantium and the Time of Angels. The actress as well as the character has been lying to her mother from the very beginning. That is some serious acting chops.
Think back to when she hugs Amy tells her she’s brilliant for pausing the Angel in static. Or when she saves Amy with the transporter. She is saving her Mom!!
Moffat gave everyone but Alex Kingston fake scripts that didn't reveal River's identity until right before they filmed it. Alex knew the entire time, and she kept the secret (Moffat told her how important it was).
Imagine Moffat in his lair starting River character arc back when he was a guest writer for the Library episode in series 4. It would not have worked with any other name that does not have synonyms for both name and surname, so the idea to create this fleshed-out (heh) Pond companion must have started back then.
Congratulations - the first reactor I have seen who predicted the River reveal! There are plenty of clues but most people (including me) don't pick up on them. Good luck with your plan to watch River's arc in order. Where do you put an episode like this? She is a baby, but also the later version we have already seen. Wibbly wobbly timey wimey! True Moffat writing. He has done what, for me, are the best and most imaginative episodes since series 1 (as a gues writer) and as show runner (form series 5).
Yep, but the clues have been there since Time of Angels, the way she cared for Amy. They referenced the season 5 finale in this episode when they said Melody (Song) Pond (River) was conceived on the Tardis on their wedding night at the end of 5x13 aptly titled "The Big Bang." They also said it was her birthday at the beginning of the episode. @@jaydoesreactions
I love it that River's identity was RIGHT THERE! Right under our noses😅😂 River=Pond Melody=Song It was right there! And most of us missed it untill this episode! Great writing by Moffat😁🤩
Well done! You've genuinely discovered the biggest plot twist in Doctor Who history. 👏🏻👏🏻 River's monologue is one of my favorites. She's rightfully calling him out for how far he's gone for the worst, resulting in her life being irrevocably altered. But she uses the term "my love" multiple times and takes him to the crib to help reassure him that she's okay. She's both holding him accountable and letting him know she's forgiven him in the same speech. And YES, definitely watch River's timeline in her order sometime. It's fantastic.
Wow, you're the only person I've seen guess the big reveal beforehand. This wasn't a two-parter but, in my opinion, this episode and the next one (Let's Kill Hitler) are the best non-two-parter back to back episodes of the series.
In the UK calling a woman "mum" is sort of a term of endearment. I guess you could roughly compare it to saying "maam" in American English (not quite but that's the closest thing we have - it carries some subtle connotations that maam doesn't). Also, the actress that plays Lorna (Christina Chong) now plays La'an in Star Trek: Strange New Worlds. This was one of her earliest roles.
I love how you figured it out yourself. The clues are there, but still not many people put them together. Rivers story was actually planed out since the before season 5 for the most part and you can see it a little bit when rewatching Rivers old episodes. I waited so long for you to get to this episode and your reaction did not disappoint. Actually there a few episodes I couldn't wait for you to watch, but this one is just one of my all time favorites. I'm also looking forward to what you have to say to the last season of Torchwood
god I love doctor who , only ever disliked one episode, aliens, silliness, space, monsters, explosions....I love this show , always been the same too ❤
Sontarans are anti heroes because they’re not good but they’re not bad either… Didn’t the last Doctor Who episode to feature the sontarans have them killing innocent people as well as poisoning the air and almost killing every living thing on the entire planet as part of their plan to turn it into a clone breeding planet?? That sounds pretty bad to me.
Silence in the Library "I point an laugh at Archeologists" ... meets Melody here *points and laughs*

Yeah when I catch up I would love to rewatch the river song episodes. Especially her first one…

@0:00 Been waiting for this reaction SO much as we've gotten closer... The thumbnail suggests you're not going to disappoint! ;) Onwards! :)
it was such a great episode!
@@jaydoesreactions It was a great reaction. :)
This episode was written by Steven Moffat! Personally one of my fav Who writers, responsible for one of my fav episodes (Blink from Tennant's era)
His final season for capaldi is the best season of new who period.

A lot of people have told me that I’m one of the few reactors who were able to somewhat guess who River Sing is

yeah the end of this episode was such a mind fuck....
The music for this episode is iconic.
Holy hell you actually figured it out well before the ending.
21:45 yea dude, we’ve all been there 😂
Once you’ve watched the episode it becomes so obvious that Melody is River. Mad how you picked it up so fast 👏🏽👏🏽

Lol. I don't know why I bothered looking for the episode name. I have seen very few people like that episode.
I knew it was going to be that one haha
