your right cameras usually suck on mid rangers and as a rule little to no updates. but for basics they work great. just don't compare it to more expensive phones.
People don't even look twice at a photo. When they realize they have so many photos they don't want to do anything with them. Apple is smart because their phones have great cameras. People will take so many pictures and use up the storage and pay apple for more storage. And people will give a kidney for an iPhone. In my opinion.
@@LissyRedgown I believe it's more of wanting something for nothing because some people want a thousand dollar performance phone while only paying two hundred dollars...get real people!!! 😂
@@ashleyz6682 That's also a high possibility but I think a lot of older folks who come from an iPhone don't realize its a top tier phone and anything significantly cheaper doesn't compare. 😂
Compairing from the same year of course you would expect a premium phone to be quicker. But I think it would be reasonable to think that a half price phones would be better in some aspects than a 4 year old iphone for example.
One major point missed when comparing these two particular phones is storage. The $499 price point for the GP8a only includes 128 GB -- which I feel simply isn't enough, especially for this phone. Shutter bugs are most attracted to this device because of its camera. But after three years of pictures & vids, 128 GB isn't going to cut it. Ironically, for the price tag of $399 the Moto Stylus comes w/ 256 GB; but you could get away w/ only 128 GB, because you have SD expandable memory. SD cards are so convenient for storing pictures & vids. P.S. Hey Google, how about you give up pushing 128 GB storage as the base config? Just give us 256 GB. I'm never going to become a Google One subscriber, especially when such tactics are blatantly obvious.
Yep, it is definitely an advantage to have the on-device extra storage. That's what they are trying to do. I hated when they took away the full image quality storage for the life of the phone.
I think nowadays 256GB should be a standard. I bet it is not much more expensive to give us 256 GB as the base for a manufacturer, just don't charge us £100 or $100 like Apple does.
i was wondering why the limited storage, when it couldnt cost but $5 more to upgrade it, and they could charge $50. then you mentioned google one and it all makes sense.
i wondering why they didnt increase the storage when it couldnt cost them more than $5 and they could charge $50. then you mentioned google one and it all makes sense.
$60 more gets you 256 gb of internal storage w/ the 8a and the 8. Hold them both, the 8a feels WAY more premium. The cameras are not even comparable. 7 years of updates. The 8a and 8 are actually less expensive if you consider how long you can use it for. The Pixel is a much better value. Now the Moto is $249 on sale at Best Buy. So now you can talk about cheaper. Great review!
Some reviews say the Stylus 2024 isn't too far off camera quality with pixel phones but the pixel 8A's smaller screen is the main negative for me, guess I'm just used to having 6.7 / 6.8" phones over the past several years so a smaller screen would feel like a pretty big downgrade.
You don't want that Pixel, I've had a 6 pro, and 8 pro which I returned. Both of them horrible cell signal and service on Verizon, bad battery life. None of those Pixel's will likely last the 7 years anyway. I've never had such a frustrating experience, I love Google software, but those phones where both horrible and my friend had a 7 Pro and had basically the same experience. A 200 dollar motorola phone shouldn't have service on the same network where my 900 dollar 8 Pro could barely get a bar. Just getting my frustration out, I don't want another Pixel for free LOL........
Moto G Stylus 128GB is $259 without discounts on the carriers. The 256GB is the unlocked version. at $399. The Pixel 8A is double the price for the 128GB version.
Phones with Snapdragon SoC like this Moto is compatible with Google Camera. Just find some compatible Google Camera app (there are hundreds) and install them on the Moto, and choose also some configs. I've been doing this for years, that's why I always choose phones with Snapdragon SoC. Then taking pictures become Pixel-quality.
I think Motorola has a market strategy: Sell a good phone cheap enough for their customers to justify buying a new one every year. Unlike the junky Samsung A- Series the Stylus 5G actually is a decent device (minus the updates) its also cheap enough for you to want a new one by the time the Stylus 5G 2025 model comes out.
Motorola doesn't have a lot of update like Samsung but the performance is steady and battery life is great and u won't potentially have bug with those update....I have the g stylus 2020 and I love it I'm planning to get the 2025 stylus....I have the 2023 but I haven't use it as yet bc I like the 2024 more.... I concur. I believe that is exactly what Motorola is doing. You can buy a new one every year and in 3 years you will have paid the price for one flagship phone.
im glad you did this comparison because these are 2 of the finalist i am looking at for a new phone. for me it comes down to price, the Pixel 8a looks awesome and has a $50 discount right now, but its still $450, while Moto G Stylus is $350 now, and since I already have a motorola, I get another nearly $100 off, making it around $250, a $200 difference. Google gives $0 for my trade in. The lack of software support and updates is unfortunate, but I was using a motox4 for a long time, and even though it hadnt updated in many years, it still worked perfectly fine. Only when apps started requiring newer versions of Android did I get something else. Whatever the back is made of is irrelevant for me, since I always use a case anyways. Google is a bit AI intense for me, but maybe in the future I will be more accustomed to it, but for now not really interested. The camera might be a lot better in the Pixel, but I have been happy with motorola in general, maybe its a case of you cant miss what you never had. Another thing is the Motorola phones uses 'glass' for the screen that is not very durable, whereas the 8a uses gorilla glass which i think is more durable. Personally I like the plastic, the phones are generally lighter and tend to 'bounce' instead of break when dropped I would probably go with the Pixel, but the Stylus being $200 less is probably going to be the deciding factor. In theory I could afford to replace it again next year, and the OS updates being limited wouldnt really matter as much. thanks again for the review, i enjoyed seeing a side by side comparison of size and features.
