I stumbled upon the 'Otori' series more than 10 years ago ( I think at least 15) and it's been my favourite series ever since. For me it even beats 'Harry Potter', 'cause it holds so many memories from my childhood. Sadly it's so underrated...

Yay! Lian Hearn is quite popular here in Australia, and it’s really nice to see you mentioning her in this video! These books all sounds great - thanks Emma! ☺️

I really need to read Tender! I read a short story by Belinda McKeon earlier this year and really enjoyed it. I've heard a lot of people compare it to books I've really loved, so I really must get to it!

Oh thank you! I love finding gems that have been overlooked. The only one of those I've read was My Antonia; read it way back in high school.

The Lian Hearn books now totaling five volumes. Sounds reminiscent of the five books of the Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy trilogy.

This is quite wonderful. I am so glad that I have read several of these but now I shall read the rest.

The only one I knew about was the Willa Cather. But I'm from the US, and Cather is one of the more famous writers from one of my next door states.

Yeah I always heard she was much more famous in the US! How interesting.

So great to see the Lian Hearn books included. I read them when I was about 15 and absolutely loved the trilogy and two additional books. For some reason after I finished uni I did a book purge and got rid of them and I really regret it

Naomi Watson oh no! There’s also a more recent prequel duology you should check out if you love her - they’re a bit more mystical and grown up, it’s called The Emperor of the Eight Islands
