Thanks 'Uncle Karen' for an excellent pocket hole tutorial. Also, I like the pencil holder and will likely make a few for our woodturning club to hold colored markers to color the spinning tops we make and give away to youngsters at the local farmers market and street fairs.
I’m building a much nicer version over the next couple of days. Going to make one out of cherry and I’m building a wine rack out of some walnut… Hopefully you’ll check out those videos next week when I post them 🤟🏼
Just made the wife a paint brush holder using the 2x4 pencil holder idea. She wanted it a straight cut so made it 5 1/2” and put 10, 1/4” Forstner bit hole for the brushers. She will paint a scene on it rather than a pencil. Glad she likes watching the videos with me.
That’s a great idea… I also thought about the fact that you could take a scrap 2 x 4 like this drill some holes and it could be a toothbrush holder for the kids, or a toothbrush and razor holder for yourself… There’s tons of possibilities
Congratulations Robin. Love all the builds Tim. Really thankful for the time spent explaining pocket holes. I have one of the little cheap single jigs but haven't used it yet as I didn't know how. Cheers for that bit. Now off I go to wash walls before cracking out the paint sprayer I got for Christmas last year and still haven't used! Wish me luck.
Hey Blue… you’re welcome and hopefully it helped so you’ll get out and put some stuff together with some pocket holes. If I got a paint sprayer for Christmas… I would’ve used it the next day 😂🤟🏼
Love that pencil holder. I’m always looking for my pencils. Might have to try that one. Thanks for the pocket hole information. I need to use those more, I’ve only tried a few times. I have one of the $40ish dollar Amazon jigs. As always thanks for posting and all you are doing to help us new people learn. You’re the best Uncle Karen 😅
😂😂 the pocket hole jig will become one of your favorite jigs once you get used to how it operates. Thanks as always for the support and here’s a link to help with pocket hole screw lengths industrydiy.com/woodworking/kregtools/kreg-jig-settings-chart/
I do watch EVERY video you make, maybe I should start commenting! 😂 I NEVER win ANYTHING, anyways so it's not like I'm missing out on anything... 😂😂😂 Just so you know tho, you are one of the main reasons I want to start woodworking, tho. So THANK YOU VERY MUCH 😊
Well I truly appreciate that and I can’t speak for other channels, but the reason you don’t win here is because you don’t comment 😂😂. You’re definitely in the drawing for an awesome dust mask this week!!
Great video again! Thank you so much. Looking forward to making the wine caddy my own 👍🏻 Thanks for the pocket hole breakdown too. I think that would have helped alot of people! 😁 Keeping my fingers crossed for a Base Camp mask 🤞🏻
Hey, Uncle Karen, I would love to see a video about your "elevated" version of the wine caddy you made today. BTW, I love using pocket hole joinery and I have been woodworking since I was 14 (51 years).
😂 I knew someone would call me that eventually… I will be out in the shop this weekend making some stuff and the wine caddy and a wine rack is getting made so I’ll have the video up next week sometime. Thanks for the support 🤟🏼
Project #1 looks pretty nice. Project #2 was a SURPRISE but I don't remember it being that easy 🤣 Uncle Karen!?! Hilarious! Nice interlude. Project #3 "Trust the cut list" Thanks for making that "mistake" even though I'm sure it was staged 🤣Nice project though. I vote for the elevated version. The pocket hole portion of the program was VERY informative! Thanks for that. Though it gives me ideas for my birthday list. Thanks for a great video.
You’re very welcome and I’m glad that you noticed I gave you credit for the design!! The first project has a ton of possibilities and you really could dress that thing up. My intentions for the next couple of days are going to be remaking that wine caddy as well as the wine rack we did a couple weeks back. Thanks as always for your support
@@NuKraftWorkshop I almost fell out of my chair when I saw it! I had to rewind it to make sure I wasn't seeing things. I'd like to see how you dress up the other two projects. That should be interesting, Thanks
Hey I will always give credit when I steal from a subscriber 😂😂. I’ll be working on the wine caddy and the wine rack this weekend so I’m hoping to have those videos up by Monday or Tuesday… Or Wednesday 😂
Very informative as always. My glue dispenser arrived today with another bottle of Titebond lll (best price in town). Still wondering why I never purchased the dispenser before. Life is good. Am adding the wine caddy to my list of builds. Have a great weekend.
Hey I really appreciate you always taking the time to leave a comment. Which glue dispenser did you get? The one I popped up on Amazon video last week? If so… It is absolutely the best seven bucks I’ve invested in my shop quite a while. I’m building a really nice version of that wine caddy over the next few days, video should be out next week. Hopefully you’ll check it out. Enjoy your weekend as well 🤟🏼
Yep!! I don’t always do that myself but I’m building a very basic version that is mostly made from scraps. Then I’ll rebuild some of these projects in an elevated way out of nicer stock. Very upgraded wine rack and wine caddy coming next week!!!!
@ Most of us, sanding is a no brainer, yet, someone totally new, better to be on the safe side. Besides, they can pencil it in, use the screws, unscrew the glass holders, sand to 150 grit, screw it together. Finished product, spray lightly with water, let it dry, sand 150 or 180 grit, stain with water based or oil. We both know how it goes.
Yeah I get it and the next beginners episode maybe I will do a little shop talk on the sanding procedure and why it’s important. Even a lot of experienced wood workers failed to raise the grain prior to putting on their finish. 🤷🏻♂️
Love the wine caddy.. I don’t drink but I know many a whinos💃🤣 This is perfect for my project to do tonight (part of my getcha shit done phase of my life🤪 I’ll send a pic). Should always wait till the end to comment 🤔🤦🏼♀️ Anyways.. Absolutely love my Base Camp mask! Got one last time you talked about them. It doesn’t fog up my cheaters🤣 But I wish I would have paid more attention, I thought you could get some sort of nose comfort thingy?🤔Thanks again! 😅
Hey I appreciate you taking the time to leave a comment and I do love my wine so I’m making some more wine racks this week. As far as the mask, it’s top notch and I agree about the fogging up of the glasses 😂😂 Not sure which mask you got but the one I use has a thing at the top that you can pinch around your nose and make it tighter fitting
Really appreciate that. Got some projects I’m working on this weekend that are going to definitely be a little more advanced and I should have those videos of next week… Hopefully you will check them out🤟🏼🤟🏼
Hi Tim, love the wine holder. Will do one of the pencil holders for my workshop, I'm always misplacing my pens and pencils. I really must invest in a new set of forstner bits. I have used picket hole joinery a few times in a couple of builds, I just struggle to know which screw length to use.
Hey the forstner bits I use I made by Irwin and they’re only like $55 for the whole set and honestly they serve their purpose. Maybe one day I will need a $300 sit for some reason 🤷🏻♂️. Check out this website, they have some information from Kreg about screw lengths and material industrydiy.com/woodworking/kregtools/kreg-jig-settings-chart/
Great job. For pocket holes. The pocket hole screws come in sizes for the material. When you are using different thickness of wood what size do you get. for example if you drilled the pocket hole in 3/4 wood but the other piece is let’s say 1 1/2. Do you get the screws recommended for 3/4 or 1 1/2.
Great question and you’re the first one to ask… it’s going to be dependent more on the material you were screwing into as opposed to the material you are attaching and screwing through. Here’s a link to a site that has the Kreg screw chart. This will help and I keep one handy in my shop industrydiy.com/woodworking/kregtools/kreg-jig-settings-chart/
Short answer… Just a personal preference. Long answer… I have owned a locksmith company for 26 years and the longer extension gets me in some of the type places I need to get into and honestly I have just become accustomed to the longer extension. It feels extremely awkward when I use a shorter one 😂
A lot of people seem to like the pencil holders and as I showed in the video, that’s the one out of three projects that wasn’t my own original idea 😂😂. The nickname kind of started when I quit drinking beer and started enjoying wine. I like all kinds of wine but my preference is a good Sauvignon Blanc and me walking around with my white wine glass at parties with the family just kind of led to the nickname… plus I’ve been known to speak my opinion and maybe even complain occasionally 😂
Congratulations Robin
Still haven’t heard from her!! Hope she responds 🤟🏼🤟🏼
Thanks 'Uncle Karen' for an excellent pocket hole tutorial. Also, I like the pencil holder and will likely make a few for our woodturning club to hold colored markers to color the spinning tops we make and give away to youngsters at the local farmers market and street fairs.

Uncle Karen, now that’s funny! Another great video, can’t wait for more.
Really appreciate it. If you know what a “Karen” is…then you know 😂😂
Thanks for the tutorial, I understood way more than trying to read about them on my own.
I appreciate that and you’re very welcome. If you have any questions at all, shoot me a message… I do my best to answer every single comment
Thanks for the pocket hole tutorial!
You’re welcome. Hope you got some new knowledge out of it 👍🏼
Thank you for the good show
You’re welcome 👍🏼
I like the pencil holder idea. My daughter is a teacher so that may be one of the gifts we give her for Christmas.
I will pass on the kind words to the subscriber whose idea it was… I thought it was a cool idea and I needed a quick project on this video
Awesome wine caddy. I have a few friends that would love it. 😊

Thanks for catching some details in my video… Not everyone pays that much attention and it means a lot
Great, simple projects. Love them. Thanks!
Thank you so much as always Laura… Have you built any of the projects on any of the episodes yet?
Some nice little projects.
I appreciate it. Thanks for taking the time to comment and support the channel
I really like the pencil holder. Thank you for showing the coaster holder. I need to make several. Now I know how.
Those are two really easy projects and both of them would be useful as well. Thank you so much for watching and supporting our channel
Another good episode , just in case I already have a Base Camp mask. The section on pocket holes is helpful.
Thanks for the heads up and I always appreciate your thoughts! Glad you liked the shop talk section 🤟🏼
I love this series. I am learning so much!
That makes me happy and I’m glad it’s helping you out 🤟🏼🤟🏼

Congrats to the winner. I do have a dumb question: Why do you use such a long extension on your drill to drive with?
Short answer… Just a personal preference. Long answer… I have owned a locksmith company for 26 years and the longer extension gets me in some of the type places I need to get into and honestly I have just become accustomed to the longer extension. It feels extremely awkward when I use a shorter one 😂
And for the record… there are no dumb questions at all here 👍🏼
I was wondering the same question so I know it’s not a dumb question 😂
I wonder how many people have thought about that… I guess I haven’t because I’ve used the longer extension for years in my other trade 🤟🏼
Unless someone gives a human answer, “ size matters “! 😮😂😂
