I tried one of the weight forward estwing hammer....never again!!! I was using one and bolster to chip back concrete and the face of the hammer chipped off and shot a chunck of it into my index finger middle knuckle on non dominant hand. Went to hospital, doc felt around the knuckle while moving finger and says " are you sure its not a simply a cut?" ....I pulled a magnet out of my pocket and preceeded to attach it to finger, lol 😆 the doc was amazed! After 3 x-rays and 2 surgeries and 6 weeks recovering, I was not impressed as I'm self employed. Get rid of it and get a traditional straight claw estwing. 👍

I don't know what the generic name of them is, but the trade name of Torx or Spax masonry fixings, I find are good for wall mounting heavy items through dot n dab plasterboard and even into medium density or thermalite block. No need for expansion plugs either. Patience and care is needed drilling the initial holes though as the drill bit can sometimes wander, especially on less dense material.

loafer sheffield I think the main idea of these is you won’t damage the plasterboard by pulling it into the void, the metal core stops that from happening

Valid point, taken. I've already given very serious consideration to checking them out. Cheers!

Can I just point out that the person who put those interset hollow wall anchors in (all 10 of them) has not installed them correctly, he hasn't used the setting tool, otherwise you wouldn't be able to pull them out the wall

Would these be any use for fixing directly into thermalite (ie no plasterboard or cavity)? Nothing I try is working at the moment
