- I’m adopted. One year ago, my life changed when I met my birth parents.
On Mother’s Day, I sat down with my dad to talk about the biblical story of Moses’ birth and its connections to my own story. In the conversation, we cover two planned abortions, my closed adoption, and God’s grace through it all. And in my favorite part, I was able to honor my mom who has put so much aside to care for me.
God can use your story for good. I believe it.
Major thanks to my dad for being such a stellar example and for challenging me to step out of my comfort zone.

A very touching story. Amen, God has his own plan in our lives. Whatever happen He is our life story creator. Thank you for this Joshua, when you said that for those who lost their moms and wanted another day of conversation it hit me hard. We lost our mother last 2021 and I really missed her in every part of my life. Our mother really deserves everything. God bless us all.
Joshua, I loved hearing your talk with your Dad. My mother, Inez Stephens, was one of the praying women at College Street Baptist who spent her time praying that your parents, John and Donna, would be given a child to love and cherish. She knew the blessings and challenges they would face. I remember how happy she was when you were adopted. And I remember how happy your parents were! My parents adopted me when I was less than a month old and I know that God created me for them. I was taught from the time I could understand that I was chosen, and loved unconditionally. My parents were praying parents who prayed over me and for me every day they were on this earth. We are both blessed beyond measure.
WOW! How special. The CS community has played such a special part in mine and our lives.

Hello Joshua. You might not remember me. My name is RJ. I met you and your wife Alexa at the Night Food Tour in Ho Chi Minh hosted by Saigon Hotpot (I was there with my Filipino friends). Thank you for this video. I just wanted to give you props for having the courage to share your story. It really is inspiring. Yes we should honor our mothers always. Joshua, it was the most wonderful experience to be in church on Sunday and hear you and your Daddy preach the sermon as a dialog, against the backdrop of the adopted son Moses and his birth mother Jocabed whose story is told in Exodus 2!
