I think at this point he was happy playing with Al and Wolfgang and finally moved past that he didn't like Dave and was still resenting Sammy and just was happy to be playing.
Honestly, I don't remember much concerts where Eddie didn't look happy. Dude's born to rock and knew it every night. Same with Alex and in later year his son. Great stage pressence must be in the family.
I'm so glad that in his last years of performing Eddie got sober and reminded us all of why he's the greatest guitar player who ever lived. That's not hyperbole but a fact as shown in this video. Here at almost 60 years old he brought his A game, the same as he did as a high schooler playing back yards in Pasadena. Long live The Greatest.
Obviously I did not know Eddie personally. But if like my mom, even when dementia ravaged her body, she still knew several songs she sang as a younger woman by heart-she would sing them note for note, perfectly. I would think for Eddie, the guitar was so ingrained to him, it was just perfectly natural, almost like breathing to him… Few will ever know that gift…… 🎸❤️🔥🤍

And it was okay not to be a master of knowing theory and notes! But playing with aggression or feeling or just being happy in the moment. Its little moment's in time that make life!

I got to see Van Halen on what turned out to be there only ever Auckland, New Zealand shows in 1998. a week later I saw Metallica for the first time., What a week it was indeed . EVH and James Hetfield in the same week was fucking EPIC !!. EVH nothing will ever compare to him .I felt the same when when I saw both EVH and James Hetfield , indeed its hard to beleive somethings in life are so real

Just watched Wolf on lead guitar at the Taylor Hawkins tribute playing hot for teacher. Is there anything that man can’t do, class bassist, class drummer and awesome shredder, and a really good vocal range, what talent he has in his own right. Eddies left the world a great gift in his son. RIP!!
Yeah, he did an awesome job on the two VH songs during the tribute, with a more than adequate version of Eddie's solos on those songs. I wouldn't go as far as some people were saying, that Wolfie's playing was as good as his dad's, but it was GOOD!
@@kriswoodward7623You can tell the apple hasn't fallen far from the tree with Wolfie. I hope that in the future he decides to record some music that is similar to Van Halen. I don't want to knock it, but most of the songs sound like early 2000's rock, and not Van Halen.
Van Halen came to Australia in 1998, for VH3 tour. I saw them in Newcastle Ent Cent, venue was like a barn shed gig on weeknight cos Sydney show was sold out. Eddie was epic that night as was the band with Gary Cherone, who did a great job. I was 23 then, now I'm 45 yrs old...what great memories. I'm so glad I saw Van Halen live! RIP EVH.

I have said it before, Eddie Van Halen was the most influential guitarist of my lifetime ! Van Halen laid down some of the greatest combined Studio rock tracks of my lifetime ! David Lee Roth was one of the greatest studio vocalists ever ! The look at me clown show that he performed in most live Van Halen performances is most likely why Eddie, Alex, and Michael looked elsewhere for other frontmen ! Sorry Dave, thank's for the tracks ! How many takes it must have took ? RIP Eddie !
