I started saddle hunting last year at 49 going on 50 and it totally change the hunt for me. I will never hang a stand again(unless the grandkids want me to take them) and as much as I loved the predator platform I just felt I didn’t have all the mobility I really wanted during the hunt and have been looking at the ring of steps set ups. And sir after watching this I am pulling the trigger now and getting my first ring. Thank you for the information I was looking for.
The treehoppers are great,. I use 6 on my setup. I bought the rachet strap from Cranford. They sell them without the hook on the end. I've also used the Cranford ring of steps, but the treehopper steps are way quieter and more comfortable.
Great video. I’ve seen lots and this was very informative on actual use and how to help us as saddle hunters set up for better success and for first time saddle hunting people. Thank you
John! You just saved me some cash! I'm picking up those amsteel Bullmans to practice on this year. Looking to reduce setup time (and bulk) to get up into hunting height on public this fall. OBVIOUSLY private access is much more ideal to gain speed advantages from screw-in steps and obstruction trimming privileges.
Got my set of cranford last year as my first ring of steps setup. I liked the much more than my predator XL platform. Don't get me wrong I enjoyed the platform but the ring of steps is just another level for me. Wish I would have known about the lighter weight quiet plastic versions show here.
I have used tree hopper for some time I love them I use 5 on a rachit from USA Rachit with my Eastern Woods one stick with scout platform on stick. Repeal down.
Would you be able to use the Tethrd platform and a few Treehopper steps around the same strap? New to saddle hunting so just a guess. Surprised Tethrd has not come up with a all in one system with that.
Thanks for the insight John, been wondering about all of these and really didn't want to buy them all to find out. So, this was very helpful in making my decision. Any Idea how long the discount will last?
Where can I find a decent dump pouch that'll fit the platform ring of steps? Bullman's only offering a smaller dump pouch that's not big enough for the ring of steps. TIA
TreeHopper doesn’t have a ratchet strap but I think you did a disservice to not mention that they have an OCB strap available and it works great. I know you said in a previous video that you can’t partially tighten a OCB and then mover your steps around and then finish tightening but you have never tried it before you said it can’t be done because you would know that not only can it be done but it is super EASY to do. I’ll take the OCB over a ratchet strap all day long.

The Bullman platform steps are very comfortable. I ran them right much last season and they are worth it.
I picked up the treehopper steps in 2021. They have served me well. I use these in conjunction with a platform.

Make us a video about your diet and sleep and supplements I wanna be able to do this long as you have
My normal comment to you after one of your educational videos. Doesn’t get much simpler & easier than that. Thank you!
I like the idea of the bullman ring of steps. Not heavy at all for packing in

Eastern Woods Outdoores makes a step satchel. Its petty slick
I would think moving like that on a dead calm morning you’d be heard
Either by bark coming lose or your rubber boots squeaking on the steps
I use the ring steps from bullman
So what are we doing this days , are we climbing with plastic or Steele lol
