    I love this machine. I've been sewing since I was 10, in 1958 and have had numerous computerized machines.
    This machine simplifies everything.

    Wow, I just learned something I didn’t know. I always thought you were supposed to start with the needle down. And I was holding the thread out. Thank You!!

      Usually wonderful: she isn't starting at edge of fabric though. So I am not sure where needle should be if beginning at edge of fabric. Perhaps best to start a little ways in on fabric (with needle up) and then back stitch to beginning of fabric.

    Thanks for your content. My mother gave me one of her many singers a few years ago, and i recently pulled it out of the closet and set it up. I used your videos on that process, super easy to follow. The reason for my interest in learning this new skill stemmed from the need to repair some heavy gear. Im currently attempting to sew some patches onto said gear. Do you have any tips for a preferred stitch pattern for attaching patches? Should I stitch inside the borders or over the edges?
    I am using the same singer in this video, HD4452. With some thick (ish?) Thread thats about 30 years old, usa made!
    Thank you

    I have this model of machine. The problems I am having are skipping stitches when trying to zig zag and also the bar right above the needle, my thread never stays behind it. I don't know how to keep the thread there. I would appreciate any help with these problems. Thank you, Holly

    Thank you so much for the tutorials, I am thinking of buying a Heavy Duty 4423 or 32. I have question. Can I use the Singer special coverstitch foot on any of the Heavy duty machines?

      I don't know the answer to your question, but I bought this machine and I just love it.
      Super easy to use, and I have sewn through a few layers of heavy fabric, and it seems to handle it well.

    • @jojosewist8921
      @jojosewist8921 3 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      You can't set the stitch length for S1 or S2 stitches. It is an auto length for each of those stitches, Bummer isn't it?

    • @aicid5652
      @aicid5652 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@jojosewist8921 Yes--It's SO dumb! I've owned "lower brow" machines that can handle length adjustments-- if this line of machines is so cool, why didn't they add this? This machine gets rave reviews everywhere, so I ordered it online (never do that again) and I can't return it now. Don't advertise this as having extra stitches if you can't manipulate them!

    Can anyone, who has not moved the plastic screw with +/- that is on top left side of machine; tell me where it is set? Is the slot in a horizontal or vertical position? I adjusted mine for some very thin fabric, but forgot to mark the starting position. So am flying in the dark! Would someone help please! I will answer questions from the manual that came with my 4432 model for anyone. I understand the mechanical models are all very similar. They just have additional or less stitches. Thanks for any help.

    • @bimirabu
      @bimirabu 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      I never touched mine because I didn’t know what it was for, haha. My plastic screw has the coin slot pointed towards me. It’s basically perpendicular to the bar of the little thread guide #5 below it. The plus sign is on the right, the minus on the left, and both arrows are pointing equally towards me. Hope that makes sense!

    • @jojosewist8921
      @jojosewist8921 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @You Tube bimiarbu: Thank you, if I am understanding the slot in the screw is pointing N/S, not E/W. If I misunderstood, please correct me.

      I just marked sharpie dots on my 4423 while it was still in factory position. It was close to NW/SE (with “north at the top,” haha), with perhaps a nudge further towards N. Hope this helps.

    You don't say what types of fabrics are for S1 or S2

    • @ScourgetheDarkPrince
      @ScourgetheDarkPrince 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      If you mean S1 or S2 on the length dial, it changes the type of stitch to the one in the matching color on the stitch dial, they can be used on any fabric decorative stitching can be done on.

  • @kevinpaz1055
    @kevinpaz1055 3 ปีที่แล้ว +3

    I’m so confused and frustrated.
    I have this one but somehow it always sews the wrong stitching.
    Ex: I’ll choose S1 but then it sews the black stitiching i stead of the s1( blue stitch)

    • @jeanettaszerletich5118
      @jeanettaszerletich5118 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Double check that the stitch you are picking is the same color. For example, if you are trying to sew S1, make sure that the stitch dial for the blue lines up with the dot right above and you have the length set to S1.
      I also found that the S1 & S2 options seem to just make the stitch bold. Not sure how else to explain it lol. I'm sure there are other differences that I just haven't explored yet

      My next question is. I accidentally turned the screw that says
      (- & +) on top of my Singer 4452 ( the screw close to the tension wheel) what does that (- & +) do ?
