    I live in Costa Rica and I have 6,000 kilometers on my radar. mine is the basic rear wheel drive. It's the closest thing to 4 wheel drive, in two-wheel drive you'll ever use for a truck. the rear-wheel traction control is amazing .I paid $36,500 for it. if you're going to use it as a light duty truck like I do. You just can't beat it. It charges from 20% to 100% overnight in 9 hours. Costa Rica is very mountainous and it really does Drive almost like a sports car. it has absolutely massive brakes, and bi-directional charge / discharge. I love my radara

    I wrote to Geely the other week asking when the RD6 will be arriving in Germany and they wrote back to say they are sorting out the Euro safety certificate and the dealership network and it will arrive here next year. It's a great car! Did you see the turning circle specs? With the duel motor it can turn 360° within it's own footprint!

    My daily driver is a 2 door Silverado and my my pleasure vehicle is a '67 Chevy C10. I've been waiting for the USA to produce an affordable, good looking, 2 door AWD ev pickup truck. They could make it unibody to save weight and with a motor for each axle there would be no need for a drive shaft hump, so a bench with a fold up armrest for the occasional 3rd seat would make sense. Call it El Camino, Sprint, Ranchero or Scrambler for nostalgia. A solar bed cover and/or roof would be a nice option too. I've been telling my favorite mechanic that I'll sell him my Silverado when I can buy an electric El Camino. Come on USA...Get with the program please!!!

    Can update - in Thailand there are 3 battery sizes: 63, LFP, 73.9 LFP, 86.NCM -The 63 is RWD, the 73.9 could be RWD or AWD, and the 86 is AWD. Range on the 73.9 RWD is listed as 461 km (NEDC) and 424 for. the AWD. The 86 kwh battery and the 73.9 give 0-100 in 4.5 seconds. Charging for all battery sizes is 30-80% in around 30 minutes. So, in short, the range is likely going to be under 400 KM and the charging on the slow side. Features ability to drive through 82 CM of water, which in Thailand us useful.

    When I first saw this being rumoured for Australia, they showed a single cab version with a longer tray - so where is it? All I would like is an EV that can replace my Holden ute, single cab and a 7 foot tray - is that really too much to ask? At this stage it seems the answer is yes, which is both mystifying and sad.

    Going by tare mass there are utes that weigh less but the Radar is almost identical to the GWM ute for weight which is quite good for an EV. I assume the larger packs will take this number up a fair amount. This and other EV utes soon to arrive will prove to be more popular than many current ute & 4wd owners think.

    They have nicely refined the design of this truck, and I suspect they may have used the Honda Ridgeline as a in benchmark for design, function and specification except, of course, for the electric drivetrain. I have a Honda and it is a great truck and does 95% of a body on frame truck with much greater efficiency, comfort and drivability. I wish this Radar(a) truck were coming to the U.S. Thanks!

    All the ute most would ever need. But... if you tow, rear end is not ideal. Obviously for range, but also coils mean weight centered and load point further away from tow ball (compared to leaf springs). 2500kg is sensible. Same for BYD Shark. They should not fiddle with specs in an attempt to increase towing weight to compete with Ranger et al. Pick your market. .

    The Chinese and Peruvians will be completing a new huge seaport in Chancay, Peru, in November, which will be China's new gateway to all of South America. The Chancay port will be the largest container port in all of South America, and they are building a roadway network and a railroad network as well, to connect this port across the Andes Mountain Range to Brazil, Columbia, Argentina, etc. This Radar EV pickup by Geely will takeover the EV truck market in all of South America if it holds up to the unpaved gravel roads there.,

    I'm in America our truck manufactures are destroying their own brands. The Ford Lightning was offered if ordered at 40K $ 40,000.00 Us. Ordered. But you can't get one for under 80K and many dealerships were asking over 100k for them... Even more for the new GMC ET.... So you can rest assured our car and truck market is being primed for serious disruptions over the next few years. Americans will soon say give us BYD Geeky etc. Nans F Ford and GM GmC Toy etc.

Anyone who advocates for destroying their own countries car manufacturing industry is just brainwashed, it’s a vast job sector and allowing anyone to destroy it is insane. There’s a lot of reasons why the governments want to protect their own companies.

    I own an MG4 long range and a 100 series land cruiser and love them both but we shouldn't focus on 0-100 to be any more than sub 6 seconds as these types of vehicles simply need range. Sam great information but please let's be realistic normal driving one of these with a couple of passengers bit of camping gear and some push bikes aircon on you will only get sub 400km at best 350km range would be more realistic. Start towing you will not get any more than 200km range. Hybrid utes will be the future.

    As a person on the land, I need a try back utility vehicle. If there is a fire I need to put the 1,000 litre fire fighting unit on my vehicle, with four wheel drive low range capability. When there is a flood I need four wheel drive capacity. When I want to get away camping I want to put my canopy on. When I need to go get some 6.5 metre lengths of steel I need a vehicle that has a front bar to mount to for a support, and in the front and rear of the tray. I often need to pick up a 1 ton bag of stock feed with the tray. Or perhaps a load of crushed rock, or bags of concrete. My current Nissan MY61 Diesel 2010 Patrol has a 1.5 ton carrying capacity with long range fuel tanks. I would love to buy an EV tray back, with at least 2.2 metres of tray length, but they are all these stupid pick up trucks with short tubs, like all of the current crop are totally impractical for rural and remote four wheel drive owners, they are built for city folk.

    Looks like very low ground clearance. Quote : At the moment, one of the biggest problems with off-road ability for the RD6 is the limited ground clearance - just 180mm.
    So it's not 220mm. The 180mm figure comes from an actual review. 180mm is sedan car clearance, absurd. 😂

    • @jimgraham6722
      @jimgraham6722 6 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      18cm is more than adequate for unsealed, made roads, which is the vast majority of use cases. Agree though, that 18cm is not good enough for genuine off road (ie cross country) nor on unformed or heavily rutted tracks.
      Another issue with EVs is the extent of torsional stress on the battery (box). In the days when Australia made its own vehicles they were extensively tested on tracks purpose designed to represent this country's rough outback roads and beefed up accordingly.
      Since the demise of local manufacturing that is no longer the case. You take your chances.

    Make one with a really long rang, average power and a hotted up one with a lot of power with okay range. Fleet buyers/business and people that buy Utes just for show will buy these up. Managing fuel cost as they go up and down as business owner is a nightmare because it's really hard to manage future projections when it comes to overheads. One day its $1.78 5 days later its $2.10 5days later its $1.92 it gets really annoying balancing the books.

    Ur right, this Chinesium ute might suit a significant number of Australian buyers, but then it will also fall short for a significant number of people who buy dual cab utes to tow loads at distance. I suspect it will be like all other BEV”s at towing and be shit, it might have the torque to pull but that is useless without decent range. BEV”s sweet spot is for small/ medium people movers, any bigger, then plug-in hybrid is the only architecture that can be anywhere near comparable to a Ranger, Hilux, Dmax, etc. The other appeal this Chinesium doesn’t have is the lack of accessory customisation. The very nature of the structural battery and complex vehicle systems would mean it will be highly unlikely you will be off to the ARB shop and fitting up a new suspension, bullbar etc which may not be essential items in the suburbs but if you use as a touring vehicle or regional work truck kinda are. Yeah, but nah for me., maybe by 2040 the manufacturers will have this all sorted, until then my Dino burner will keep puffing along.

    • @metricstormtrooper
      @metricstormtrooper 6 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

    • @Hoop-pi6dp
      @Hoop-pi6dp 6 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @@metricstormtrooper You may be correct champ, some ARB stuff is city confined, so what? A larger quantity of that ARB stuff you appear adverse to is widespread in the Agricultural, Mining, and Construction industries in regional Australia. You may have missed the point I was making that a lot of dual cab purchases are made because they are a "commercial" vehicle, and as such are often customised with endless combinations of tray bodies and bolt on accessories to do ones job in a safe and efficient manner. A vehicle that does not have a ladder frame chassis is very limited to the addition of service bodies. Not everyone drives a dual cab to keep up with the Jones in Ramsey St, so for those of us who buy commercial vehicles to use as such, we need to have the market continue to supply products that provide choice and are fit for purpose. There is a reason vehicles like the 70 series Landcruiser have changed little in 40 yrs. Simple, reliable and capable machines that as yet the Chinesium or American EV pickups fall short on. I have no idea what sort of "person" you are but rather than give character assessments to people you have never met, perhaps you can make comments relevant to the Vikings content.

Towing is a biggy as I have a fossil truck to tow a large boat. The lightening is an eV that tows 4ton but range is an issue. I’m sure a break through will happen soon with the speed of tech

      @@lifeliver9000 Hmm, not sure if that can really be. Consumer Reports tested 4 EVs (Model Y, Mustang Mach-E, Ioniq 5, ID.4) in diffent weather conditions, and the range of all dropped about 25% in cold weather.
      Google "CR Tests Show Electric Car Range Can Fall Far Short of Claims" for the article.
      And yeah, the range when towing drops massively as a bunge of tests on TH-cam show... ;)

      @@hiram1923 yip all my mates were interested also so we did the test twice. Yip the advertised range is never the true range as I pointed out above. But mainstream media were forecasting all sorts of drops with aircon and radio. Don’t believe anything from media till you try it yourself. Most of my mates have EVs now and also say hardly worth noting the drop in range with accessories running, it’s just the same as petrol engines range drop doing the same thing. I’m still saving and when I’m about to pull the trigger there is a jump in tech so wait again. Grr

      Petrol tax just goes into general revenue.

      And what damage is that? Oh, you must mean the damage that heavy vehicles cause to road surfaces that have been weakened by oil and fuel deposits. Remove fossil burners from roads and we will see longer lasting surfaces. This is not discussed enough and should bear interesting results when properly studied.

      @@evtorque You do realise the road surface you are concerned about is mostly made from OIL? and the tyres on your EV are made from OIL! and the vast array of plastics in your EV are made from OIL! Removing all fossil burners from roads will see longer lasting surfaces, quiet the assertion there champ, you have proof or just your opinion after stroking your beard? It shouldn't matter how your vehicle produces its tractive effort, if you use a public asset you should pay to do so in some form.

    Radar name sounds generic, but Riddara name sounds more nonsense to me, and also sounds too feminine to be a pickup brand.
