    You make the straightest and cleanest cuts with an angle grinder I've ever seen!

  • @pjhalchemy
    @pjhalchemy 4 ปีที่แล้ว +6

    Forgot to say how cool the technique was for shimming with paper and the straight threading using a threaded rod as a guide. Simple and brilliant. Thanks for the premiere with some more details. Hat Tip!

    That is just magnificent, the cut quality you’re achieving in thick steel with a handheld grinder is sorcery and transcends human capabilities all while wearing a pair of crocks. Subscribed for sure

    •  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thank you! I have used angle grinder for cutting about 20 years, so its very familiar tool for me.

    That is a cool vice build, was going to say it needs tool plates for bending, but you nailed it.

    •  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks. Yep. This was made for to be used with different toolings. I have a set that i have made earlier, for bending and rolling. I just made some changes for The mounting, and i can use them with this.

    WOW!!!! This is hands down the Very Best Hydraulic vise ive ever Seen on TH-cam or anywhere! And i watch all the big maker channels small and Big and anything inbetween! I Love yours so much! because of its sleek design in comparison to other hydraulic Vises on here which look awkward because of how much space the hydraulic jack takes up on them, but yours it's perfect size! and the fact it uses a traditional vise screw and hydraulic jack Wow. What an incredible build! I am just Literally Blown Away! Ive been subbed to your channel for several years, but for some reason i havent gotten any notifications for any of your builds for like the past 8 months or so. I had assumed you were not able to work due to covid. But out of nowhere i found one of your videos today lol and have alot of catching up to do lol. What an Amazing vise! I Love it so much! Its so Stout and Really nice looking too. Thanks so much for all your hard work! And Building these incredibly wonderful Tools. Take care Mate. Thanks again Bro.

      Like all the other hydraulic vises on youtube are cool but look Disproportionate lol. like a big vise but 3 quarters of them are hydraulic jacks lol they look funny to me. But yours is Very nice and the hydraulic jack is the perfect size for your Vise. Very well made and thought out.

    Incorporating a vice with a hydraulic press is interesting! Massively heavy duty for a shop!

    •  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks. This way i get more uses for it, instead just clamping things. " Traditional " hydraulic vises doesn't open very wide, so.. Those kind of loses the idea about hydraulic use.

    •  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yep, its big, but making smaller sized version is possible too. I wanted to have one big enough vise too, so i made it. 😊

    • @JoseSilveira-newhandleforYT
      @JoseSilveira-newhandleforYT 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @ Having the space for it, I guess it's almost the same work, for a more capable vise. Got to go looking for my oldest jack and schedule a trip to the scrapyard :-)

    If hydraulic vise can be opened only 4-5" wide, how useful it really is? It can be used for clamping.. like regular vises, without getting actual advantage about the hydraulic feature. This version fixes that.

    I can put together anything you've made a video of, but my issue here is finding the necessary steel. Sadly there are no scrap yards, and the metal recycler in town won't sell anything to the public. Ah well...maybe sometime in the future things will change, ya know? Keep on posting these, Tuomas!

    •  4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Getting materials is sometimes tricky for me too.
      I got this idea about 4 months ago. Then i had found all materials for it. Same with my next build, i started it about 6 months ago. 😀
      Of course, i could buy truck load of steel delivered to my yard.. but then there comes the money issue...
      I have decided to be patient.
      Here, these youtube videos doesn't bring you much money. So, buying expencive materials just to make a video isn't option for me.

    May i know the details of your work metal table if you won't mind. Want to build same work table. How do you call that type of table top and how did you design it? Can i see d diff sides of your work table? Thanks in advance 👍

    •  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      😊 Its not actually a table.. just a piece of steel grating on top of my old table saw frame. Like these:

    Ooh, well there you go. That is a way cool design. I have a question. Being that your able to bend metal with the hydraulic part. Is the nut to the vice going to bend at the threads? Would a drop pin, where the vice ends and the press stops help that? Really good idea. Saving lots of space in the shop.

    •  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      That's why the "slide" part needs to be sturdy and with a minimal gap to the vise body. That's why i used paper sheets as a spacers when welding it together. Minimal gap keeps "slide" straight and threads are stressed only with straight pull. Also actual nut is 70mm ( 3" ) long, to handle the stress. With 2 ton power, that's more than enough. ( I don't know all english terms, i hope you understand ) 😊
