What’s next on your bucket list should definitely be whatever other Blue Sky Studio movies you can find, including: - Rio 2 - Ice Age: Collision Course - The Peanuts Movie - Ferdinand - Spies In Disguise
This is still one of the most beautiful and vibrant movies I've ever seen with some pretty great songs. Plus, I love that it raised awareness of a real life extremely endangered parrot, the Spix's macaw, of which only around 160 individuals remain, and are only just now being released back into the wild.
@@CervusLavandulanot true. This year they have been releasing them into the wild again, and recently two of the released birds successfully hatched two chicks in the wild on their own which is huge
I think Rio is right up there with the original Ice Age as Blue Sky Studios' best movies. It's fun, energetic, got a perfect voice cast, and fantastic music (the songs are catchy to be sure, but the score by John Powell is - as always with this mad man - magical).
Fun fact: Neil Patrick Harris was considered to play Blu in the movie, but he had other commitments outside production. So Carlos Saldanha decided approach to Jesse Eisenberg and asked him if he would do his very first voice recording on the weekend while he was filming The Social Network. And he gladly agreed after reading the script. I was surprised that he's never done doing animated films before. Also, he and Anne Hathaway originally DID work together in the TV show called Get Real as they played siblings when they're younger. At time, she didn't see Eisenberg during production of Rio. Or he hasn't never met other actors until they'd all met at the premiere.
Eisenberg even stated that while working double duty for The Social Network and Rio, he considered the latter the antidote to his near-joyless character in the former.
I love this movie; it’s so colorful and I was OBSESSED with the soundtrack back when it came out. I listened to it all so much though that I don’t love it AS MUCH but it’s still a great soundtrack. There’s something about the visuals and the music that just gets inside your soul! Hope you eventually check out the second movie.
I like the Ice Age franchise (most of it anyway), but Rio is just really good and I feel that it doesn’t get enough love and appreciation. It’s lively, colorful, the characters are very entertaining, and the music…hits hard! Really glad that you got into this film, Nick and thank you for sharing your reaction to it, really enjoyed it.😌🙂
This movie was my grandmother’s favorite animated film. It reminds me of her.❤ Also fun fact: the voice of Nigel, Jemaine Clement, is the same actor for Tamatoa in Moana.
I love this film, the visuals are beautiful, especially for 2011, the music is incredible and the love story is adorable. I remember when I was younger and I watched it for the first time I liked it so much I literally watched it like every day for a week.
Sometimes I wish I saw “Rio” back when it was in theaters cause when I first watched it after it came out on home media, it was so damn good that I regret not watching it in theaters.
Oh I loved it when I saw Rio for the first time, fantastic the wonders and nature in Rio de Janeiro, in Brazil are beautiful.. and my absolute fav moment is when Blu, despite his fear of flying, throws himself for Jewel: "I'm not gonna let you go, we're chained to each other birds, remember?", aw my heart, his love for Jewel, stronger than his fear, was what prompted him to be able to fly.. Really the macaws and birds are awesome creatures
I’ll be honest, I really don’t like Nigel, but I actually do understand him in a way. His backstory isn’t talked about much, but from what he says in his song, I can understand why he would be so evil and help bird smugglers. He had everything he ever wanted as an actor bird, but then he was replaced with another, prettier bird and lost everything. And as someone who experienced having the life of your dreams and then having it taken when your father replaces you and your family with another woman, his anger and hatred is something I can understand. I don’t support him taking it out on other animals who had nothing to do with what happened to him, but I can understand his hate for “prettier birds”.
AH IM SO HAPPY YOU'VE NOW WATCHED RIO!! Rio is one of my favorite movies of all time, the music, the story, the vibrant colors, everything about it makes me always so happy! So I'm so Happy you enjoyed it too
This week has been really really hard for me, been sick since Sunday and my mental health is nose diving, but waking up from resting to see a new video from you these past few days has been so great. I don't have to search at all for something to watch while I attempt to eat something. Your reactions never fail to make me feel happy and I thank you so so much for sharing your reactions with us. It's always a bright light in the midsts of a depression episode.
Love that you watched this, I was honestly taken back a bit by your reaction to the kid’s living space, because when I watched this movie I just remember appreciating how similar the roofing and living situation was to what I saw while living in Central America as a kid. It is truly sad how many kids fall to the wayside and wind up in some form of organized crime searching for a family and a way out of poverty. So happy they imply that Tulio and Linda seemingly adopt him, as they go on to rescue more animals. Such a fun movie with a lot of great songs and unexpected heart, thanks for giving it a watch!
Not quite as much anymore, breeders exist, but there are a LOT of unethical breeders, even then, it doesn’t fix the problem of people not researching what having a bird is like any you end up with birds in shelters being put down.
Tomorrow on the 8th December is my 16th birthday 🎂 and I was hoping you could react to Oz the great and powerful. So it is like how the wizard arrived in Oz and it is really good so as a 16th birthday present it would be amazing.
I absolutely love Rio, to me this, along with the first two Ice Age movies are the absolute best Blue Sky Studios movies! The vibrant colours and songs are all so good! Loved seeing your reaction to this Nick!
Fun fact: this movie is what led to Disney's first ever canceled movie. They were going to make a similar film regarding newts, but when Rio came out first, they canceled it, not wanting people to think they stole from Rio.
This movie reaction is so fun. Because I am Brazilian myself. I love when Jules says that “Bobo” 😂here can’t fly. Because calling someone bobo is basically like saying that they’re a goofball.
I loved your reaction, and can talk about another kind of "reaction" to this movie, on my experience. The reaction of an actual Brazilian bird: As someone who, like Linda, also got a bird partner (my Konori - a golden conure, another strictly Brazilian bird - he's in my profile picture, and will probably recognize his species on the movie sometimes), it's a dream come true to see your bird truly happy. Linda actually represents us, bird owners, very well in this aspect (except for the chocolate part, it's very toxic to birds). The Blue Sky animators actually had to come here and watch our fauna to make this movie, and did an excelent job, because (like in The Lion King) even the real life animals themselves can understand what is happening by the characters' body language. This is one of my favorite movies, but also Konori's (he watches it very attentively, hates Nigel with every feather in his body and will try to attack him every time he appears on the screen. Doesn't love Raphael either - toucans actually are predators to all kinds of parrots and macaws, so... understandable -. He also gets a little frustrated with Pedro sometimes, I wonder why...). Konori also loves to answer the songs. If you hear carefully, you'll find all kinds of bird calls on Rio's songs, including the golden conure's call, the one Konori understands and answers to. This is also a wonderful movie to discuss about the danger these birds deal with every day. The spix is a VERY endangered species, but many others on this movie are also on that list (including the golden conure. To have Konori, I had to get a very special permission from our authorities, who will hunt animal trafficants to the end of the world). Here in Brazil, if you traffic or kill a macaw, for example, you'll be in prision for longer than if you kill a person. We take this law very seriously. I hope to see you reacting to Rio 2 soon.
