Oh no, this film will break Maureen. For anyone who has been to Tokyo's super busy Shibuya station, Hachiko statue still stands right outside the subway exit #8.
It's not in the same place outside Shibuya Station. That new statue of Hachi and his master are outside a university. Hachi's remains were taken by a taxidermist and they are on display in a museum.
I read the commentary on the reaction to this film. The guy was with his girlfriend in the city in Japan where this statue of Hachiko stands. He told her about his story. And she burst into tears there.
I just watched this movie again 2 days ago. I love this movie about loyalty and love. I always cry during the movie. It's my favorite Richard Gere movie. It's based on a true story. This man's dog waited for him at the train station. There is a statue of "Hachi". He waited for his master for 9 yrs. until he died. The dogs are so gorgeous. Richard Gere said that the female that they used is called the Merle Streep of dogs🐕🐶. .
I grew up in Woonsocket Rhode Island, about 3 or 4 streets away from the train station used in this movie. My grandparents on mh dad's side lived in a high rise on the other side of the nearby bridge, right near the Church I bring my mom to every Sunday, and grew up in. THE WOONSOCKET CALL is indeed a real newspaper, that published twice a day when zi was a kid. You bet thus movie was a big deal to us when it was released
My daughter saw this movie and she was so choked up with tears she had a asthma attack. Akitas are extremely loyal to those they love. It is movie that made a grown man cry.
I've bought the "Hachi" dvd at Best Buy store. I gave one to my friend, who loves the movie and to the library. I couldn't believe how cheap it was. I used to check out the cheaper dvds.
When i first saw the trailer on tv, i burst out crying. This is officially my first attempt even trying to watch it, and i'm happy it was watching with you. 😁
My wife and I visited some friends and their kids were watching this film. I had seen it a couple of years earlier and I knew what was coming at the end. I knew I wouldn't be able to hold it together so I made up an excuse to leave until the film was done.
I've watched this movie once in my life. Once and NEVER AGAIN. I was in a fetal position bawling for a week afterwards. And now I'm bawling my eyes out again just watching this video. I'm a mess!
Akitas are like Dobermans: Velcro dogs who get attached to that one special person who trained them! Many dogs I have loved in life, their loyalty and love is Heaven-sent🐕🐕🦺💛
They actually melted down the original Bronze statue of Hachi during the second world War to aid in Japan's war effort. The statue was remade and replaced in 1947. The Hachiko Shrine right beside the scramble-crossing just outside Shibuya Staion is the most popular meeting place in Tokyo.
About 10-12 years ago my mother told me the story of HACHIKO - she had previously seen the Japanese original and then the US remake. I saw the US version first, but I also wanted to know what the original was like and I had to do some searching. Conclusion: Normally a remake usually loses out to the original for me, but here it's the other way around. The original seems a bit harder on the one hand, but more playful on the other. .... I only need to hear the first notes of the music and tears are already overflowing. Animals are simply better people.
The real Hachiko had a new master. He was a man who had worked in the yard of Hachitaro's former master and knew exactly how Hachitaro felt. Hachitaro lived with his former owner for only less than a year, but his loyalty never left him. His new owner did not stop Hachiko from going to the station, and when Hachiko became ill, he took care of him and nursed him back to health. After Hachiko was reported in the newspapers, a statue of him was made while he was still alive so that his deeds would not be tarnished by malicious people. Children bought caramels to raise money for him, many letters were sent, and he was loved by all.
Thank you for sending me that video; I wonder if all Akita dog's would be that loyal? I guess all dogs are loyal, too sweet! Thank you for watching with me! 🤗
Yes, l heard there were mean kids, and people treated him badly. In the movie, his ear is fine, but in real life, it was damaged by a dog attack on the way to the station. I'm also going to watch the Japanese version of this movie. My sister lived in Japan for 2 years and speaks fluent Japanese. And my good friend's husband is Japanese. Very interesting place.
If this film doesn't make you cry, I don't trust you.
I rarely cry at films, but this film and Schindler's list always do.
If my day or week is going TOO good, I watch this one :P
come on my friends already hate cuz i didnt cry to this 🙃
@@zar_17c its ok, just a little humorous hyperbole 😁
I think movies affect people in different ways. I said in another movie comment that the boys in dumb and dumber cry during commercials. 🤣
us humans dont deserve this kind of loyalty, this story is so beautiful, Hachi waited for his master for 9 years
It was such a heartwarming story! 🤗❤️
It is a true story yes
And at the end when hachi has eyes closed and is remembering
He passed away 😢
Awww I was so happy to find out that this beautiful story was true! Thank you for watching ! 🤗

dubbed "the most popular meeting spot in Japan"
I want to go there! 🤗
Every time I visit Tokyo, I go pay my respects to Hachi at this statue
They have updated the statue. Now there is also a statue of the professor and Hachi reuniting.
That's so wonderful. Together again
It's not in the same place outside Shibuya Station.

In 2015, a bronze statue of Professor Ueno reuniting with Hachiko was created.
That is so special! I hope to one day visit it!🤗

@@travelgirl747
Yes, this statue is located on the Yayoi campus of the Tokyo University.
When I first saw this film, I ugly cried So hard. It almost killed me. 😭😭This was real love.
Wonderful reaction and commentary.
This is the saddest, most touching film, I’ve ever seen. Over the years, it’s never failed to make me cry.

Hachi is a legend.
This movie is so heartbreaking yet such a beautiful story of loyalty.
I was so happy to learn that this beautiful story was true! 🤗
it's not even funny how many times i've come across this movie and how it makes me cry every time.

This is a true story that really happened in Japan.
There is still a bronze statue of Hachi at shibuya Station
I was so happy to learn that this sweet story was true! Thank you for watching with me and I hope to one day visit the statue! 😊
They named the train line Ueno used to take the "Hachiko line" and recently the university made a statue of Ueno and Havhiko playing with each other.
Between this movie and Black Beauty, the original warner brother's version 1994 can still make me cry.
This movie tormeted my soul out...the pain is unbearable.... Remember the more u cry the more u become kind ... cryiing is a way of kindness

I've watched quite a few reactions to this movie, and every time, l cry and say never again, yet here l am.

FYI, in 2015, Japan made statue of Hachi reuniting with his master with full of Joy. They are eternally together now.
Yes, I did learn that; it must be a popular destination to visit by locals and tourists! Thank you for watching this beautiful movie with me!🤗

The only movie that caused me to openly weep 😅
Me too, but not the only one!! 🥲
I can’t ever watch this movie again. It literally rips me inside. I’m a sobbing mess right now

Accurate view of a dog's visual color scheme: Mostly gray, but can see blue and yellow.
Why my tears always run down again and again
Greyfriars Bobby: The True Story of a Dog movie 1961, set in Scotland in 1865. The dog guarded his masters grave for 14 years.
When they unveiled the statue at Shibuya Hachiko was alive and present at the ceremony

this is the only movie that makes me sob
The reason his wife doesn't like dogs is she was attacked by a dog as a child. That's the real professor Ueno's wife.

Yes, l heard there were mean kids, and people treated him badly. In the movie, his ear is fine, but in real life, it was damaged by a dog attack on the way to the station. He wasn't sent from Japan the story and s of a Japanese man and his dog
I don't even like to see people react to this movie because it's so 😭
It is such a sweet story! The original Hachi is 100 years old this year! 🤗
