- THIS WEEK WE ARE BACK AT THE SCREEN WALL THAT WE RE BUILT LAST YEAR . THAT SECTION WAS BUILT WITH NEW BRICK , ON THIS SECTION WE ARE RE USING THE ORIGINAL BRICK . EVEN OUR CUSTOMERS HAVE MUCKED IN AND HELPED DROP THE WALL AND CLEAN THE BRICKS . A FRUSTRATING BUILD BUT LOOKS GREAT NOW ITS ALL DONE .......ENJOY

Great idea using the inspection chamber shafts as tables for mortar boards, not noticed that before.
So glad to see those expansion joint ties my confidence in you guys has gone up a few notches (I understand the Tor helps is this regard). Suggesting an extra of a course of creasing tiles near top would have made the great wall a superb wall. Well done guys.

Another top video and display of graft 👍Although they are old bricks they look as good as you will get and mainly solid ! The shite you get delivered from the demo or reclaimed yard are packaged up in clear plastic with the standard showcase of half decent bricks on view but with all the crap and rubble within .They say 10% waste ? But then why not give you 10% extra then? As for the comments on the multi coloured house next door ,although the bricks are a different texture and make ,if I lived there I think I would be employing a tinting company to tone them down and in my experience they seem to work magic on getting the colour spot on.
Ronnie Biggs . Buying reclaimed is a rip off as you say . A skin of half decent brick round the outside and a load of unusable crap inside ! The house next door is student accommodation so the landlord won’t spend a penny unless he has to , he hasn’t even contributed to the cost of the wall 😡👍🏽🧱
Small change against a rebuild or the devaluation of your property . It’s personal choice but also the builder might be partly to blame who knows ?
Martin Please don’t lose any sleep over this! (1) You are right any landlord wouldn’t be bothered about the external appearance of this property (2) If the property was sold at an auction for instance the new owners might decide to pull the outer skin down and thus (re-Build ) to a satisfactory standard .(3) Again if a new buyer was interested in this property then perhaps a bid might take into account the elevation not being in keeping with the main building . (4) I hope this is “ precisely “ the answer you require .If for instance a young couple had bought this property and engaged a ( not so great builder ) you know the ones you see on tv ! to construct the extension and left him to project manage the build, surely it wouldn’t surprise you that he would buy the cheapest bricks and basic materials to extract as much profit out of the job..Hope this answers your questions .. Top job as always. Somtimes old bricks are so tatty and mis-shapen it's hard to make a good looking replacement wall out of them, but on this occaision your wall looks great. Will look even better after a couple of years once it's aged in.

Great work as per usual done a few of them types of walls but personally I like hydraulic lime on that type of work if the client pays for it which most don't as lot less expansion joints if any depending on length of wall and future proofs the bricks as in they can be reused as lime mortar absorbs and releases moisture a lot better than sand and cement but I suppose neither here or there, keep up the great work👍
wheaten bread . Cheers pal , been bricklaying 32 years and I can honestly say I have never used or even seen lime for mixing mortar. The nearest I gave used is the pre coloured stuff and even that had cement added to it 😬👍🏼🧱
@@SteveAndAlexBuild you have never used hydraulic lime in 32 years of building, I am using it at min building stonework on two cottages but you would never use it on new build usually for old buildings being restored but it is a great product 👍

I am a very jealous brickie, Steve! You guys seem to pick up some great jobs. Up here in the Highlands 90% of the walls are bloody roughcasted breeze block, which is OK as an earner but not exactly very exciting or as satisfying as seeing a lovely finished wall like that...... Superb job, mate.

Great to see you using existing bricks Steve.some blokes wouldn't bother cleaning them off and re-using them,they would use a Carlton civic or burnden weathered 73mm which would be sacralidge!!

They are types or the names of bricks.73mm is the height of the brick as opposed to a standard 65 mm brick👍

No one wants to pay lime mortar prices, even though it is far superior to cement.
@@martin2466 £5.00 for a bag of cement £15.00 for a bag of lime nhl3.5. Twice as much mix out of a bag of cement. Longer to mix lime. all adds a lot to the price of a job when people just want the cheapest job doing. all comes down to money in the end..................................

LukeeH . I would I have no idea where to buy good ones . Most of the ones I have used have had good brick around the outside of the pack with a load of crap inside . I would say Get Cheshire Pre War commons . They are much nicer to work with and are all the same size too . Look exactly the same minus the dark soot marks 👌🏼🧱👍🏼

mike berry . It’s a student accommodation house so I can’t see the land lord giving a toss what it looks like unfortunately. He won’t even contribute to the cost of the wall so my lovely customers have to pay the whole bill themselves 🧱👍🏽
