    Like the Cormorant does. It should take plenty of fish. That is a real beauty. I will be trying one on the Derwent soon. Thank you again Davie. Take care. 👍🎣🙂

    I do so enjoy the variation of the flies that you show in your videos !! I plan on tying up a few different colors of this fly & try them on the Trout in my local rivers, along with trying this fly for Bluegill (panfish) in my local small lakes. Thanks for your skill at the vise !!! David M. Clunk Fisher-of-Men Fly Tying Ada, Michigan USA.

    Hi Davie. I’m getting in to my lists of flies-to-tie from when I was kinda dragged away from my normal days by the hospital venture. Aaaah..... 😊😊😊🥰🥰🥰😊😊😊
    Nice pattern here and one I’ll make the effort to tie. Thank you for another one dude.

    Nice winging technique Davie. I've been fiddling about using hair and dubbing to replace feathers for wings. I like the way you actually tied on the leather...I've been using small zonker strips but only tying on the hair and cutting the leather off.

    Hi Davie great pattern, I was wondering the way you tied in the black pine squirrel if you could do the same with rabbit zonker.

    Don't think I've seen you use the pine squirrel tying technique for a salmon fly wing but assume would work just as well.

      Hi Simon,
      I have tyed a few salmon flies using this method, I did plan on filming one so just keep me in mind as I will forget. One of the flies I did this method a lot on was the Sunray Shadow...

    Hi Davie ,can I ask what is the exact material I need to buy for the wing of the cormorants you tye ? The rabbit looks so much better than Maribou I use ? absolute fantastic tying , love your videos , I’ve had great success tying up some of your flies in the past 👍👍

      Hi @MrDJGILLIES,
      I have attached a link to the pine squirrel dyed black that I used in the video though I did buy mine from Veniards a few years ago..You can use rabbit as well as I have done this many times, I'm glad you liked the fly..

    • @DavieMcPhail

      Black squirrel would make a good wing, rabbit is also worth using as well...

    Thanks Davie, great pattern. a couple of queries. do you think you could substitute the squirrel for rabbit strip? Secondly, how do you fish this pattern? Keep the great videos coming

    • @DavieMcPhail
      @DavieMcPhail  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi Mark,
      Rabbit would be fine so definitely tye a few up with it as It will work just fine...The cormorant can be fished many ways from just hanging and drifting with the current to twitching and stripping like a small fish so it's a great style of fly tyed in many colours...It's used a lot on the lochs and lakes by many of the competition anglers because of this so it would certainly be worth tying a few up..I'm glad you liked the fly..
      All the very best Davie..

      Hi ess0tus,
      It can be fished many ways from just hanging and drifting with the current to twitching and stripping like a small streamer just as you said so it's a great style of fly tyed in many colours...It's used a lot on the lochs and lakes by many of the competition anglers because of this so it would certainly be worth tying a few up..I'm glad you liked it..

    So the cormorants are mostly intended for still waters? Have you ever tried them in rivers?
    Like the look of it and will play with your pattern using materials I have on hand! Thanks for some more
    inspiration as always! Cheers!

    • @DavieMcPhail
      @DavieMcPhail  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Morning Mike,
      They are mostly fished on still waters but there's nothing to say that they wouldn't work well on the river as they do give a great impression of a small fry or nymph..Let me know how you get on and many thanks for the kind words..
      All the very best Davie..
