40 yo French man... When I was a boy, "Mirage" used to be synonymous with "fighter aircraft". Now, less and less Mirages roar over my house. My 6 yo daughter recognizes a Rafale's flight any day of the week, but when a pair of Mirage 2000 flew up the valley last week she wondered "what was this" ? A generation has passed.
The Indian Airforce has the best experience with the Mirage 2000. In 2019 they entered Pakistani airspace and dropped Spice 2000 bombs killing 300 Pakistani terrorist and returned back safely . The paf with its F16 was clueless. In 1999 Indian Air Force Mirage 2000 bombed a Pakistani location at an altitude of 18 thousand feet with superb accuracy

@@tihi79 Very unlikely to happen. Ukraine needs NATO standard platforms to launch NATO standard ALCMs, so I would suspect that they'll be reserved for that and similar roles, and not risked in direct air-to-air combat.
That type of short, biased documentry is always debatable in the quality and relevance of its informations, but here at least to guy chosing the images did a wonderfull job. That's because 20-30 years ago dog fighting was still a big potential possibility in air engagements. Now with the advancement's in BVR missiles nations want better platforms that are better suited for BVR engagements because the F-16 and Mirage 2000 aren't really capable in that area.
Of course, because France began building something even much more advanced (other generation: 4.5): Rafale. Naturally, France does not have the industrial base of the US, nor the volumes that provides their own armed forces (specially when it comes to F-16). But definitively France have the edge in design and engineering. Head to Head, M2000-Mk2 is better than F-16 B 50/52, and Rafale is better (by far) than F-16 B60, B70. Simple.

Not that it a very reliable classification but fighter generations are more or less defined by features. Being an unstable fly-by-wire aircraft definitely puts the M2000 in the 4th generation
Ummm not the most advanced 4th gen. F15, F16, F18, Su27,30,33, 35, Eurofighter, Rafale, Jas39 gripen and a few others are all better in their own ways.
Mirage 2000 is remaining in the 4th gen category, while now the f16 belong to the 4.5th gen thanks to its modernizations. That's the big difference to understand. I don't know if the Mirage 2000 is still the best 4th gen fighter still operating, but he certainly was back then, when France was still providing it updates and upgrades. According to what I read and watch, there's big chances it still is.

He said it in his interview, once the Mirage 2000 started to pursue him, he wasn't able to shake it off. He survived thanks to his better experience in piloting. Mirage 2000 crashed because didn't successfully avoided a mountain part. The Arabian pilot was lacking the experiences.
Mirage didn't won against F16. They both frequent challenges each other in agean sea and do many locked on. But that skirmish the Greek pilot pulled the trigger.
