The Rafale is designed to have good low speed handling for carrier decks, hence close coupled canards and Gripen also for roadside missions. The Eurofighter had neither priority so the canards are used further away from the centre of gravity. That is why EFT has canards away from the wings, it gives leverage at transonic speeds. The Germans may buy the modification kit for new EK variant that improves manoeuvrability but it is not a priority as dog fights are less important and BVR is always the choice. Better to launch from height and speed then go home. Modern fights are detection and remaining undetected. The glamour is going and soon the pilots will be gone and AI will be the difference.
I think we will. India is a very important customer and partner, and is becoming a central player on the global chessboard, if not the most important. So I reckon France / India relations have great days to come

The Dassault firm is a renowned company that has been able to create excellent, proven fighters. The burst is part of this lineage. France was right not to follow the Europeans with the Eurofighter which suffered a lot of misalliance, an explosion of costs and delays for the design of the European fighter.
😂😂.. how? It’s one of the of the most secret things in France. Spectra use active jamming systems, not to reduice rcs, but to make fail radars to locate it on his real location. MMRCA which has its initial roots since 2001 with the Mirages and then finally taking shape in 2007 and the saga continues. mmrca has to be scrapped and additional F4 Version of the Rafale has to be ordered asap in a GTG mode. 36 are not at all sufficient. They can win a regional air conflict like Balakot 2019 but for a full fledged war many more will be required. Only the SU30mki and Rafale are with modern fighting capabilities, all other jets of the IAF are best 90,s legacy early 4th gen.

The Indian armed forces ought to learn from France. The incremental improvement approach of Rafale proved to be very successful. On the other hand, we aim for the moon directly with our requirements which puts undue pressure on the development and manufacturing functions. The LCA could have been inducted much earlier and then improved upon over time. I feel, one of the reasons for this is that the French are not open to acquiring foreign platforms and hence make do with what they have and keep improving it. We, on the other hand, did not put that pressure on ourselves and thus ended up slowing down our development speed and capability.
It helps that France is not surrounded by neighbours that want to occupy its territory. France has no immediate threat from its neighbours whereas things are much different for India. This is why France can take its time to slowly develop capabilities. But yea Tejas should have been inducted in the mid 2000s. It would have saved a lot of pilots lives and also made India more self reliant. It’s pretty clear that the 36 Rafale were purchased as a panic buy to counter the threat of J20s from China. I just hope the MoD and IAF has learnt from the mistakes of Tejas and don’t repeat them in AMCA and TEDBF. Both of them are needed more urgently than Rafale.
How does the 4.5 generation F3R (hopefully upgradable to F4.1) match up 1 on 1 in specs, squadron to squadron with Chinese 5th Generation Fighters which are now being manufactured on a commercial scale ? Also are Indian fighter pilots trained by retired NATO pilots like the Chinese have been ?
Air combat is complex and you cant match two systems into a hypothetical scenario without defining multiple aspects of it brother. You will have to make the scenario and all assets very clear to draw any meaningful conclusion But rest assured, we can handle things when they heat up
the only so-called 5th generation Chinese plane is the J20, but it has a lot of faults, including unreliable engines, 25 hours of operation and they already have breakdown problems, while the Rafale has been reliable for a long time! and the 5th generation is just a propaganda argument, that's all, it seems that HAL TEJAS would be an aircraft of the same generation as the Rafale??? oh well, the TEJAS which is a low-end low-cost aircraft would be more efficient than a Rafale!! LOL I died laughing!! the Rafale outclassed the Eurofighter, and it dominated the F22 which is mach 0.4 faster and it is twice as powerful as the Rafale (31.2 tonnes of thrust for the F22 and 15 tonnes for the Rafale) the F22 even has vectorized thrust that the Rafale does not have, so why did the Rafale dominate the so powerful F22, which is 5th generation while the Rafale is 4++, although if we take the 7 characteristics of the Pentagon to be a 5th generation aircraft, the F35 and the F22 do not have all the characteristics, they would therefore be 4th generation, while the Rafale F3R or F4.1 or F4.2 or F5 would be 5th generation!! weird
@@steevoy9966 and also this low level (less than 30ft) high speed automatic mode that makes him hard to beat in a mountain environnement like the India/China border
generation classification is bullshit The Indian Air Force's Rafale F3Rs are upgradeable to F4.1, F4.2 and F4.3. The Rafale F4.1 of the Indian Navy will be upgradeable up to F5 and F6 standards.
Relying on a French aircraft for critical security is a big risk. France can one day independently 'choose' to not supply spare parts because the other nation does not align with France on their foreign policy. For smaller nations, it may not be an issue but for large nations like India that are capable of producing their own, it is a big liability in terms of Forex as well as technology growth (there is no tech transfer involved, the aircraft were received in a ready-to-fly condition).
France have been great strategic partner as US is not dependendable and Euro Fighter has too many red bureaucracy. From the time of Mirages it has given a suitable alternate choice to balance India's dependeny on Soviet/Russia for weapons.
not speaking English, I use an auto translator, did I get a bad translation, it says cable flight controls??? like the Mirage 2000, it's a Dassault specialty, electric flight controls controlled by a computer, let's say that the slightest maneuver on the mini stick goes through a computer before going to the flaps and others!
In the MRFA competition typhoon was superior , but why did india go with rafale . im not saying its a bad aircraft but typhoon couldve been abetter choice right? or did india avoid germany because of previous sanctions?
Rafale M doesn't fit in the lifts on Indian Aircraft Carriers as its wings don't fold like Super Hornet Block III. Maybe that is acceptable to politicians but in bad weather or war not being able to strike aircraft down for maintenance etc is its Achilles Heel. Perhaps a two seat M version would have been a consideration if offered but Dassault only made single seat offering so no Growler possibility. Having similar capabilities to F3R is on paper a good idea but the Navy would get little benefit from spending its budget on a type best suited to the Indian Airforce. France will not sell its Nuclear Protocols to anybody, ever, so any thoughts of using Nuclear delivery will have to be an Indian built concept.

Rafale is much better than any other NATO aircraft but every plane is easy to destroy. To explain this I will give example: at 1999. NATO aggression on Serbia showed that even old Soviet SAM systems can shoot down any plane. We shoot down famous stealth F117 and wounded badly the second one with old S125 Neva system from Soviet time, also some other planes but all of them were destroyed by old Soviet systems.
It’s only because they figured out the aircraft path - one office noticed that the planes always used the same entry and path. After they changed the flight plans they could not defeat another plane

India needs more Rafales and next Gen engine.
Hope France helps.
I think we will. India is a very important customer and partner, and is becoming a central player on the global chessboard, if not the most important. So I reckon France / India relations have great days to come
@@yxgygv7883 It seems 26th Jan the Indian Republic day may have some key updates regarding this.
Fingers crossed
India needs to build it's own aircraft, weapons and engines like China is doing that is the future not buying in.
@@NATObait India doesn't have the capability to build engines. That is the biggest problem.
India is working on 3 indigenous fighter jets.
Tejas mk2, TEDBF, AMCA.
Unlike China India doesn't have the business structures/models to reverse engineer a jet engine without permission.
@@direwolf7491 Indian politicians invest money in their own pockets. India needs to invest in aeronautical engineers and build it's future from the bottom up. It will take time but eventually that seed will grow.
China are building aircraft engines, and learning from their mistakes, soon they will be self sufficient and Russia will no longer be needed to supply them.

France built the world's first air force. France had the best Tank (Renault) and the finest equipped and trained army and air force, as well as the best naval ships in 1940 before they were crushed by the German Army. Weapons matter. Leadership, strategy and tactics matters more.
Contrary to belief french were very ill equipped for ww2. Their main defence line was cut short due to political and budget constraints and their military internally was in shambles
France had the first Air Force because it bought American Curtis aircraft.
@@NATObait we are talking about the beggining of ww2 when France didnt bought any F6 ,P40 or P47 ( they bought them in 1942)
@@windowsxp9815 I was replying to the comment France built the first Air Force which is true. That vision belongs to France and the first practical airplanes and instructions came from the Wright Brothers and Curtis aircraft. Happy New Year

The line at the conclusive part of video was so apt 🤩🤩
The Dassault firm is a renowned company that has been able to create excellent, proven fighters. The burst is part of this lineage. France was right not to follow the Europeans with the Eurofighter which suffered a lot of misalliance, an explosion of costs and delays for the design of the European fighter.
I think that using active stealth instead of the passive used by everyone else was a brilliant French move.
Active stealth how?
😂😂.. how? It’s one of the of the most secret things in France. Spectra use active jamming systems, not to reduice rcs, but to make fail radars to locate it on his real location.
Perhaps does it explain why rafale were able to enter in Lybia first, when English and us fighters did the same but not before to have destroy ground air defense.
Same thing during Syrie operation. When Russia deploy their s400, only 2 fighters from west coalition were allowed to fly in Syria sky: us raptors (f22) and… rafale.

In 2023 and 2024 Indonesia Air Force order 42 aircraft. I proud to our country choice this omnirole aircraft to protect my Indonesia 👍
What's amaze me is the optimization of this über compact beast. This so small jet takes 3 tons MORE than the mighty F14 tomcat !
it's been known to be slightly underpowered though, if I'm to believe a few former pilots talking about it. They've been asking the French military procurement agency for an upgrade for eons...
@@mintberrycrunch6657 the engine could, but the air intakes would have to be enlarged, an extra cost that the army does not want to incur.

Not an expert in the least, but one assumes as an outsider looking in, that the Dassault Rafale, Saab Gripen, and Eurofighter Typhoon share similar design parameters. Granted differences are likely evident in performance betwixt the three.

Very soon to come, I hope, for my nation purchased for Rafale F4 in 2025..
4:40 Two thousand two thousand and one ?! Shit It's far in the future I hope we'll use it before.
in france today we have the 4.5 version
How does the 4.5 generation F3R (hopefully upgradable to F4.1) match up 1 on 1 in specs, squadron to squadron with Chinese 5th Generation Fighters which are now being manufactured on a commercial scale ? Also are Indian fighter pilots trained by retired NATO pilots like the Chinese have been ?
Air combat is complex and you cant match two systems into a hypothetical scenario without defining multiple aspects of it brother.
You will have to make the scenario and all assets very clear to draw any meaningful conclusion
But rest assured, we can handle things when they heat up
Chinna.s 5G fighter are not that stealthy. More or les the same as rafale. But rafale jas spectra
the only so-called 5th generation Chinese plane is the J20, but it has a lot of faults, including unreliable engines, 25 hours of operation and they already have breakdown problems, while the Rafale has been reliable for a long time! and the 5th generation is just a propaganda argument, that's all, it seems that HAL TEJAS would be an aircraft of the same generation as the Rafale??? oh well, the TEJAS which is a low-end low-cost aircraft would be more efficient than a Rafale!! LOL I died laughing!! the Rafale outclassed the Eurofighter, and it dominated the F22 which is mach 0.4 faster and it is twice as powerful as the Rafale (31.2 tonnes of thrust for the F22 and 15 tonnes for the Rafale) the F22 even has vectorized thrust that the Rafale does not have, so why did the Rafale dominate the so powerful F22, which is 5th generation while the Rafale is 4++, although if we take the 7 characteristics of the Pentagon to be a 5th generation aircraft, the F35 and the F22 do not have all the characteristics, they would therefore be 4th generation, while the Rafale F3R or F4.1 or F4.2 or F5 would be 5th generation!! weird
@@steevoy9966 and also this low level (less than 30ft) high speed automatic mode that makes him hard to beat in a mountain environnement like the India/China border
generation classification is bullshit
The Indian Air Force's Rafale F3Rs are upgradeable to F4.1, F4.2 and F4.3.
The Rafale F4.1 of the Indian Navy will be upgradeable up to F5 and F6 standards.
I had no idea the ECM/Radar suite was so extensive..
Relying on a French aircraft for critical security is a big risk. France can one day independently 'choose' to not supply spare parts because the other nation does not align with France on their foreign policy. For smaller nations, it may not be an issue but for large nations like India that are capable of producing their own, it is a big liability in terms of Forex as well as technology growth (there is no tech transfer involved, the aircraft were received in a ready-to-fly condition).
still more flexible than US aircrafts
as if that at exact scenario hasnt happened with american aircraft

France have been great strategic partner as US is not dependendable and Euro Fighter has too many red bureaucracy. From the time of Mirages it has given a suitable alternate choice to balance India's dependeny on Soviet/Russia for weapons.
Rafali su avioni koji mogu da se priblize perfomancama F-35. Mislim da je ovo dobar potez
Rafale has jet engines and could load missiles and bombs. Those are the most remarkable features of this plane.
F 22 raptor still the best 😎💯🔥
All the flight missions are all set by certain engagement rules. It’s not just them going head to head, or it would’ve been a different story.
not speaking English, I use an auto translator, did I get a bad translation, it says cable flight controls??? like the Mirage 2000, it's a Dassault specialty, electric flight controls controlled by a computer, let's say that the slightest maneuver on the mini stick goes through a computer before going to the flaps and others!
In the MRFA competition typhoon was superior , but why did india go with rafale . im not saying its a bad aircraft but typhoon couldve been abetter choice right? or did india avoid germany because of previous sanctions?

they literally couldnt touch it if they wanted to
Funny how America cant build a decent car but their planes sell extremely well!!! POLITICS????
France should pay Aviation Wall for this infomercial 😃
People saying Rafale is bad are just... brainless or completely turned on by the F-35/F-22 admiration that shadows Rafale or Typhoon ?
Rafale M doesn't fit in the lifts on Indian Aircraft Carriers as its wings don't fold like Super Hornet Block III. Maybe that is acceptable to politicians but in bad weather or war not being able to strike aircraft down for maintenance etc is its Achilles Heel. Perhaps a two seat M version would have been a consideration if offered but Dassault only made single seat offering so no Growler possibility. Having similar capabilities to F3R is on paper a good idea but the Navy would get little benefit from spending its budget on a type best suited to the Indian Airforce.
France will not sell its Nuclear Protocols to anybody, ever, so any thoughts of using Nuclear delivery will have to be an Indian built concept.

juste de la spéculation !
