@ReactToTheWorld There are so many to choose from. Watching and Waiting is great. New Horizons also. Anything from Days of Future Past thru Seventh Sojourn is amazing!
It is NIGHTS not KNIGHTS, This is a dedicated music video. It is performed to recorded music. The flute player, Ray Thomas, is a multi instrumentalist who played several musical devices including flute, sax, harmonica and tambourine. He is also a great singer and good writer. This group had 4 singers and 5 composers, a very talented band. There is a great live version filmed at a 2000 concert at the Royal Albert Hall available on TH-cam.
The lead singer wrote it about his high-school crush who later became his wife and they are still married today try to find the extended version with the poem ar the end
Hi John Master Lee and Lulu. Though this album by The Moody Blues came out during the psychedelic rock period in 1967, the band's first seven albums were concept albums, mixing symphonic and progressive rock with profound, mystical lyrics and poetry. This first concept album featured the idea of one morning, afternoon and evening with every human. The album was called "Days of Future Passed".
Ray Thomas was in fact primarily the flute player. But he also wrote and played his songs. One of the cool things about the Moody Blues is that they all wrote songs. (Strictly speaking the drummer wrote poems that first the keyboardist and later, I think it was the flute player would set to music). Their styles were different. Thomas and Pinder wrote in more minor keys. Over time it has more morphed into being Justin Hayward's band. For more than a decade the Moody Blues have been one of the main drives for PBS pledge drives, that is to get money for viewer supported public TV. The Moody Blues were incredibly popular in the late 60's early 70s. They also had a resurgence in the 80s starting with Long Distance Voyager which is when I first listened to them. Speaking of the trippy aspect, the Ray Thomas song "Legend of a Mind" is a celebration of LSD. They don't reference the drug, but they do reference Timothy Leary who at the time was pushing the mind expanding virtues of LSD.
One of the greatest love ballads in rock music history, along with The Righteous Brothers "Unchained Melody" and The Beatles "Here, There and Everywhere".
The Moody Blues - Nights In White Satin It is missing the end and it suddenly cuts off. Not just the grand finale of the orchestra but also the poem at the end. The only way to hear it in it's entirety is ...The Moody Blues - Nights In White Satin/Late Lament (Original 1967 LP Version) HQ... with the poem Late Lament attached. That is the way we heard it on the radio. Live versions do not have it as they start the concert with the poem.
This song was released 11 months before Franco Zeffirelli's Romeo and Juliet (Oct 1968), and the use of the Mellotron does give the song an orchestral atmosphere reminiscent of what you hear in the film.
Not a live performance, but the studio track being played over some movie footage of the band. The full-length studio track includes orchestral elements and a great poem at the end. Music videos didn't exist until the early '80's, and this was 1967. Justin Hayward's voice is so spectacular, and remains so to this day. This is a very deep rabbit hole to go down, but you won't regret it. I would vote for Question next.
This is from the album Days of Future Passed. It is a concept album that has a song for every part of an average day. For example Dawn is a Feeling, Lunch Break, Tuesday Afternoon. The last song on the album was, fittingly Nights in White Satin every song is amazing. You should react to the whole album.
I was briefly under the misapprehension the title was "Knights", until it occurred to me they seldom armored themselves' in satin, unless they'd a "between the sheets" form of conquest in mind.
Hi John & Lulu, I'm a musician and I've heard of The Moody Blues. If I'm not mistaken all 5 have passed RIP🙏 other songs are Tuesday afternoon, The Story In Your Eyes, I'm Just A Singer and more
To correct some errors: There are two still alive and performing - John Lodge, the bassist, who wrote "I'm Just a Singer in a Rock n Roll Band", and Justin Hayward who wrote "NIGHTS in White Satin" (NOT "KNIGHTS"). I saw Lodge last year and Hayward this last summer.
It is Night . I have no idea where Knight would come in as the album is a theme album about parts of the day and days of the week. Like the next one you should do from the same album... Tuesday Afternoon.
You listened to the wrong version - The version with "Late Lament", a poem at the end, is the ONLY way to listen to this. I could wring the neck of the person who uploaded this "pop" version. Only someone who has no love or knowledge of this bank could upload that version. Please listen to the one with "Late Lament" - you won't regret it.
You consistently annoy me in saying totally false things in almost every one of your videos. Here you're saying it was originally "Knights". It was ALWAYS nights. The song is from 1967. I suggest watching them 40 years later performing it live w/orchestra (44million views) th-cam.com/video/MjUqfRrWwcM/w-d-xo.html The original that you heard was part of the album which was the very first rock album to also feature an orchestra...which they again featured in the performance 40 years later.
What should we react to next from The Moody Blues?

This song was never called Knights in White Satin! Where are you pulling this from? Your behind? Get your facts straight!

@@ReactToTheWorld Tuesday Afternoon ❤️
the next one you should do from the same album... Tuesday Afternoon.
React to Nights to White Satin again but live at Albert Hall in 2000. Justin Heywards voice is still just as good 40+ years later

I used to love this song when I was a kid. This was a terrific group
It’s never been Knights, only continually misspelled on TH-cam and the internet.
Explains why!

growing up in the 60's, the last song of the night at all the local teen dances ended with this song,,, great memories. great band!
We bounced back and forth between heavy rock music and music like this.
One of the greatest love ballads in rock music history, along with The Righteous Brothers "Unchained Melody" and The Beatles "Here, There and Everywhere".

There are two songs that should be sent throughout the cosmos to explain, what is humanity? This song and Procol Harem’s “Whiter Shade of Pale”.
I remember when this song came out. I loved it then and even more now.
I have never ever liked this dirge of a song, beautiful Lulu, but have always been a fan of the band.
I wish you rainbows.

Thanks for sharing! We'll check it out.
How do you think it’s odd ??? This was totally normal music for us we were used to musicians coming out with new and wonderful music

This is their best!
The song is their most famous, but this lip sync (attempted) video - the worst MB video on TH-cam!!
@@tommhill9948 ...they should just play the studio version.
white satin sheets...bed sheets and the guy with the flute plays Tamborini as well 😅
The studio album is off the hook!
Tuesday afternoon, should be your next song by them
Alright we'll try and check that out.
Nights in White Satin refers to Satin Sheets sent to the writer by his girlfriend while he was away from her.
I was briefly under the misapprehension the title was "Knights", until it occurred to me they seldom armored themselves' in satin, unless they'd a "between the sheets" form of conquest in mind.

Master Lee im Trippi
It's "nights," never knights. The album is a concept album with songs about the phases of the day, including the night.
Everybody deserves a do over now and then. Do the album cut. You can thank me later.
Thanks I'll check that out!
You should react to more wind rose 🔥⛏️🪨🛡️
The studio version is the SHIT!

It's never been knights lol
Haha, The Dickies version/cover is a bit livelier...
Wrong. Not trippy, its a romantic song. Obsession if you like but no trip.
They never did these videos live this is all lip synced. Look at the electric guitars there are no cords attached
That’s because they are not videos that did not exist back in the 60s and 70s …they were called promotional films to advertise the single
You missed the best part of the song when Vincent Price speaks. It says alot about the song
Not Vincent Price
I believe it is the voice of Mike Pinder, the Mellotron player.
