Other videos have you replace switches that will most likely never need replacing. This is by far the best one i have seen. Repaired my heater in 10 minutes.
I watched several videos and all I’ve learned so far was how much dust can get inside!! But man!!! This is the best description/troubleshooting video of every possible issue... ever! & actually the very exact problem I have been having and just could NOT figure out! THANK YOU!!
Exactly the issue! Just love this little Dimplex stove so after taking it apart, cleaning, checking adjusting... starts working then stopss!!! Happening upon this video was timely. Thank you ever so much! Save us 300 on a poor quality replacement as they these pewter are not carried.
Thank you so much for this video. I have the same model and mine quit working last year. I took the fan and heater apart and it was filled with dust and pet hair. After a good vacuum it is working perfectly again.
EXACTLY what was wrong with it. I couldn’t find a fuse either so thought I was hooped. Cleaned the contact head of the sensor. And we’re cookin. Thanks so much!
Hi thanks so much for posting this youve just saved me £60 on a new unit or worse £300 on a new suite! I didnt have a file but managed to do the same with a very sharp knife. 😊👍
This trick worked on a HF fireplace space heater that kept shutting off. Finished it off with a little QD electronics cleaner. The file set can be found as OEMTOOLS 25342 2-Piece Ignition Point and Utility File. Thank you for this useful video!
This helped alot man I had a Rv with electric fireplace (dimplex) I had the same problems and took it apart and got it to work for a few minutes after slapping it, eventually quit working again and was about to give up on it (been dead for a year) Did this fix and it completely fixed it!
this video helped me even though I have a Dura Flame heater. Same area but it is not the contacts cleaned them but did not help. On this one, there is a strip of connection among them is the contacts. On one end there is a wire with a round copper end and it is riveted into that strip. Then there is what looks to be a an over sized resistor gray in color no marking. Not sure what it is. On each end of this resistor looking thing, there is a straight wire coming out of each end, and it is bent into a circle. So the wire and this resistor looking thing are connected. And it is lose, not making good contact. I got it working but who knows for how long. I was hoping it was just the contacts I did not know about the over heat safety switch.
Phone lost power at the very end, but did not want to re shoot. The file I was using was a "GC 9337" file. www.amazon.com/GC-Electronics-9337-FINELINE-BURNISH/dp/B00DWI5D5Y/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1515276120&sr=8-1&keywords=GC+9337
I've fixed mine more than once these crappy fans expand when heated and essential wear the motors out..I'm sure you've had yours apart again! Mine is a Lennox but that doesnt matter these units are junk..just crap, mine has halogen bulbs for the display, need I say more!
It's a "point file". You can get it from any automotive shop. They are used on old cars and motorcycles that still have contact points in the distributor. Alternatively, you can get some very fine sandpaper but you'll have to make sure that there isn't any debris left between the contacts when you are finish.

Someone's a board game geek! I saw Catan: Seafarers, Ticket to Ride, and a bunch of others on the shelf in the background! : P

You're awesome. I didn't know that the contact points were exposed on these. Thanks!

Also the thermal fuse can go easily to replace this will stop it blowing hot
I wonder if sandpaper or emery paper folded in half would work in place of the file?

Cool
Mines the total opposite I get heat but no flame intensity I replace the bulbs and it still don't light up what can I do
That’s very dangerous bypassing that switch, I did and almost got burned because heater was working and fan stopped!
Does that style of file have a specific name? Thanks!
