PTX fans are truly loyal and dedicated to the group, but with PTX that works both ways. Every live show they have meet and greets. PTX never rushes or hurries the fans through. They truly enjoy interacting with the fans. You can find videos of these meet and greets. One great example of how they value their fans is in their video of their original song "Sing". A song you should absolutely check out. They asked fans to submit video clips of themselves singing along, and many of those clips made it into the video. They also asked fans to show up to the video shoot, and you will see a huge crowd of them. If you look, you will notice a few celebrities and TH-camrs who are fans making cameos in the video.
Most of us Pentaholics were taken aback with Scott's opening. We all know he's capable of that range (and in fact picks up the bassline when necessary) but he doesn't usually sing that low.
You only notice that when you've heard a few of their songs and have a better understanding of what each singer's range is. For a newbie, it's not surprising because everything is new anyway.
I think it's more that he doesn't often sing that low when he _isn't_ covering for the bass (be it Matt or Avi), so to lead out that low is a nice change.
Kind of sounded to me like he was almost trying to emulate the Disturbed version, but then they went total PTX. Funny to me, btw, how many people think that Disturbed originated this song. It’s a Simon and Garfunkel song from the very late 60s.
@@DeweyGotanycheese ... I was in my teens when S&G brought it out. It was so original! This was in the days of vinyl. It was on my brand new stereo. Hi Pentaholics! Isn't it soo fun to watch new Pentaholics being born!... Their original "Run to You" is hauntingly beautiful, and one of my favorites, but all of their songs are amazing!
Matt (the new Bass) had big shoes to fill, but you're right, he has a great voice and has done a great job. Kevin (vocal percussion) is unfairly talented. You should check out his KOvers (He goes by KO), where he plays multiple instruments, beatboxes, sings (he also has a great voice) and produces as he goes along in one take. He uses looping to add his own harmony and background beats/music. Start with 'Down, Marian Hill KOver' and get ready for a rollercoaster ride.
Oh my goodness, goosebumps. Thank you Adam this is one of my favorite songs of all times. They nailed it. I loved it. Brought tears, yep it made me cried. Love love love. 🎙🎙🎶🎶🎶🎶❤❤❤❤❤👏👏👏👏👏👏🙆♀️🌞😊😊😊
Kevin Olusola is a world class beatboxer and occasionally plays the cello in these performances. He also has a great voice, which you can hear in "Mary Did You Know" and a few other performances
Welcome to the Pentatonix rabbit hole! LOL They have some original songs, and the covers that they always manage to make their own style. Truly talented group!
i saw a comment on another reactor's video (OP - i'm sorry, i don't remember who, and i have to paraphrase!): Simon & Garfunkel - 'this is a warning' Disturbed - 'you didn't listen, i'm angry!' PTX - 'you didn't listen - there's still hope, let's work together' i love the original and PTX with their edge of hope. i also love the fact that PTX (and HF, and VP) all refuse to have a 'lead' but take turns with each singer. Pentatonix's cover of Sound of Silence showcases both their superb individual voices and their equally impressive blend. As you say, they listen to each other. I am also struck by their diction. So often a singer or group produces a great sound - but you can't understand a word they sing. Sometimes I'll dig up the lyrics online to resolve my frustration. Not here! Not even a hint of mush. Pentatonix fans are ardent. A friend drove from northern Michigan to Chicago for one of their concerts. She's in love with these folks!
When Christmas time comes around, you’ll have SO many PTX songs to choose from... or you could start now with Dance of the Sugar Plum Fairy... that’s right, a song with no words sung without instruments = Grammy!!!!
So far I really enjoy your reactions. PTX is truly great in concert. The last one I went to I about had a coronary from climbing steps(football stadium) it was awesome and worth all those steps lol. Enjoy!
Listening to a new fan experience Ptx never gets old. Great video and I can only hope that, once we are able, you get a chance to see them live. It really is an incredible experience.
Clarification: The ORIGINAL recording is from “Tears for Fears”. The cover PTX is doing is of the COVER that Gary Jules (an American) did in 2001 for the film “Donnie Darko”. It’s slower, darker and sadder...
I am really glad you mentioned their nod to the Disturbed version. I think that's the reason they went with Scott singing so low in the beginning as well as Kirstie's part of the melody. I'm a long time fan of Simon and Garfunkel, so I've loved this song for forever, and I particularly love what PTX does with it. Thank you for another awesome reaction!
Nothing pentatonic's done is short of great however I think my absolute favorite is imagine because the video is self is so incredible to go along with their audible rendition. It never fails to bring tears to my eyes
My favorite part of watching a musicians’ reactions to the Pentatonix or any amazing group really, is how, often, they start with a sort of blank/open look on their face, waiting for it to began and they’re just watching intently and then suddenly, the group will hit an amazing note or harmony and the reactor will get a little smile that tugs at their lips, involuntarily. I feel like that so many times, I live for that moment. By the end of the song, it’s just open joy. I love it. Thank you for sharing your reactions with us, it’s like experiencing it anew.
You have to see their cover of Imagine. It has the original bass Avi instead of Matt (white jacket). It not only lets you hear all 5 taking turns on lead, it takes an already beautiful song with an important message to another level by showing how the group literally lives the message while they put their PTX style on the song.
Pentatonix is my fav acapella Band, so yes I Love their version of the Sound of Silence, gives me goosebumps each time I'm listening at. For a next reaction, I will add my voice for their cover of Bohemian Rhapsody, just amazing.
I love your style of reaction -- very appreciative in an analytical way. They're all so versatile; isn't it remarkable how Matt (the bass) sings the tune an octave higher than Scott (the baritone) who opened the song? Scott also supplies the bass line when Matt (or earlier, Avi) has a solo. It's clear you're on the road to becoming a real fan, so it may be time to start learning names, and this song places them conveniently in a line. From left to right as we see them: Matt (bass) -- Kirstin (mezzo-soprano) -- Scott (baritone) -- Mitch (high tenor) -- Kevin (beatbox, also tenor when there's no beat; and plays cello on half a dozen of their tracks over the years)
This is a wonderful performance, but you haven't really heard PTX until you've reacted to Bohemian Rhapsody and Aha. Two wildly different feels, but both of which demo PTX's shockingly good vocal skills and blended perfection.
Just a note: I think this is in reference to Aha! live at the Star Vista. (I love when reactors do the official video + the live in one reaction, but it's the fancam vid that showcases their amazing range & teamwork & stamina.)
@@hstppt Be sure to do the live version of Aha in Singapore at the Star VIsta. It was filmed by a concert goer and loved MITCH! But that is the best version. Have seen several of the same live, this is the best! Kevin will not appear in video however he is there, he just had to put his cello up from previous song.
It's so heartwarming to watch your Love to ptx growing. 💕 I'm sure you would be as emotional by reacting to "Mary did you know" by ptx or Freddy Mercury singing live "the Golden boy". Greetings from Germany!
They are great live. I saw them last May(2019). Live performances... Pentatonix Hallelujah live.. A-Ha Singapore The star Vista, Their cover of Bohemian Rhapsody and also their cover of " Imagine " by John Lennon are great other good starters for their wonderful performances.
The rhythm of this song and Hallelujah are the same. Stomp, stomp, clap, stomp, stomp, clap. He changed the pace at which he does it. And it's really great. And the sounds he makes are so broad that you don't need music. It's just beautiful.
Straight after the lyrics "and the people bowed and prayed/to the neon gods they made", the way they sing "and the words..." gives me the goosebumpies every time.
Glad you enjoyed it. If you liked Kevin's beatboxing in this, just wait until you check out Daft Punk... the way he and Avi combine to make a legitimate EDM style beat through that entire piece is absolutely crazy. I have no idea how he has the stamina to keep that up for one song like that, let alone an entire concert.
They have a Spring Pop live performance from 2016. Great visuals and sounds because it was filmed for broadcast. It's about 4 or 5 songs that include covers, originals and an Evolution of Michael Jackson medley. Everyone will also beg for you to see "Aha!" a live performance at Singapore, Star Vista. It's fan made but very good quality and hands down one of their best live performances. It's just special. So is their Star Wars tribute live at the American Music Awards.
I left a list/info dump on the Hallelujah reaction... all that and Evolution of Music (it was my intro into PTX) Welcome to the Pentaholics fandom! We LOVE reactors!
I completely agree with your reaction to their arrangement of The Sound of Silence. I love, love, love this song. I can say, they will top this as they continue releasing music. I'm very happy that I subscribed to your channel. 😊😊😊.
Notice how Scott (the baritone who starts the song) switches to bass when Matt has the melody. Also, on Matt's solo, notice that he goes down instead of aiming for the high note, but it's seamlessly covered by Mitch (the one with the high voice) on "people writing songs that voices never share." The beatboxer (Kevin) is multi-talented. He also plays cello (and can beatbox while doing so), saxophone--Carnegie hall level, speaks Mandarin, and is a whiz with using electronics to create music. Each person is uniquely talented. They pride themselves on being able to reproduce the same sounds live that you hear in the official videos. Enjoy your Pentatonix journey.
Others have already suggested Aha! at the Star Vista for a live performance, but there's also the live version of Hallelujah (from A Pentatonix Christmas Special) on their channel which is a professionally recorded live version.
Good morning, I hope you like this . I love it. I’m so happy you liked it. I’ve listened to this so many times. Exactly!!! I would try “Mary Did You Know” Thank you for your reaction to this song!!
Welcome to the PTX rabbit hole!! Sounds like you have become a Pentaholic! I’m obsessed with them! We took our boys to see them a couple of years ago! It was an amazing show! Scott Hoying (the tall blonde) is my favorite! 🔥
One thing I've found being a part of the "pentaholics" fan base is those of us who love PTX, are extremely excited when someone new comes into the world and gets to experience all that is Pentatonix. Welcome welcome !! Truly enjoyed your reactions! I agree with Mary, did you know and Imagine. Also take a look at all three of the songs they won grammys for, Daft Punk, Dance of the Sugar Plum Fairy, and Jolene. A favorite of mine is Problem. And be sure to check out some of their originals, Can't Sleep Love, Sing, and the newest one Happy Now. Such a catalog of songs!
Their first solo record is so much fun. Sing, the lead single, is a blast. I’ve seen them live twice, and both times I was blown away. Goosebumps for the whole show. Also check out some of Kevin’s cello/beatboxing videos, he’s unreal.
Great reaction. Thanks. PTX is amazingly talented. They have lots of videos. I love them all. Choose anything, it will be incredible. I love the way you appreciated Matt and the rest of the band.
I love this version! They are phenomenal! There are a lot of groups, singles, bands that are great but the talent of PTX on a consistent basis you can't beat. The aesthetics and monochromatic effects are amazing! They always have depth in their videos. Heck their name is stunning just in itself. Pentatonic scale of 5, they have 5 members, singing 5 part harmonies! Genius! I would love it if you react to Havana, Cover of Camila Cabello. And of course all the songs listed below! Thank you for reacting, loved it!
Your reaction was an absolute delight. We love meeting new budding Pentaholics. I see the other recommendations so I’m gonna throw in their latest cover, Mad World and so something upbeat: New Rules x Are You That Somebody, La La Latch, and their originals On My Way Home and New Years Day (both are professionally recorded live versions at New Years Rockin Eve)
Love your reactions! Also love "The Sounds of Silence". Years ago, while taking American Sign Language (ASL), I used this song as my final presentation. Still one of my favorites. BTW it's a beautiful in ASL. 😇
Great reaction. I like the way you talk about everyone's abilities. Daft Punk is their Grammy winning performance if you wish to see something a upbeat by them.
As a VERY long time Pentaholic (The Sing Off, Season 3), I have loved watching their evolution and growth. Yes, they are just as good live- better in some cases, because they can feed off of the audience to fuel whatever magic powers they have to produce a wall of sound and harmony with only their voices. And I love seeing the expressions on the faces as new people discover their talent. Enjoy the ride.
Loved your reaction. I subscribed in the hope of seeing more Pentatonix reactions from you. I, like you, love Kirstie’s voice. She seemed less confident taking the lead in their early years, but she did a four month run on Broadway in early 2017 as Lauren in “Kinky Boots” and that really seemed to boost her confidence. Say Something and Rather Be are two songs where Kirstie sang the lead while Avi was still with the group. Shallow is a great performance by her, which she did after her Broadway run and after Matt joined the group. PTX has a huge library of TH-cam videos and every one is great in its own way. Suggest that you watch Daft Punk (their first Grammy winning performance) and Mary Did You Know for a taste of how creative they were in their early years, before they gained enough success to afford big budget productions for their videos. Enjoy the ride!
Sorry, had to laugh when you said that they could afford big productions. They rented part of an airport for a video. But yeah, they only spent around $400 to do the video for "Carol of the bells". Which is what started me on the PTX train
I again enjoyed your reaction to PTX - I like the way you approach it, especially since you obviously have a vocal background, it makes the reaction more interesting. There have been a lot of good suggestions, any would be great, but I think "Imagine" is particularly appropriate for the time we are living in :-) Thanks again!
I just watched Mace Around the World react to "Hallelujah" - he enjoyed PTX as well! (No surprise there, lol) I left a suggestion that I'll repeat here - it would be fascinating to see you two watch their "Imagine" together, if it could be pulled off!
I've seen their concert and it is masterful. They have breaks where Kevin and Matt (or in the past Avi) do a crowd singing moment and another break where Kevin plays on his cello while beatboxing. The best concert I have EVER been to. If you want to hear more of Kevin singing you can check out a few Pentatonix tracks (Mary did you know, Away in a Manger, Imagine) but he also has his own youtube channel, Kevin "KO" Olusola, where he is singing much more now. I suggest starting with his cover of Down.
There is a 'LIVE' version of Hallelujah on TH-cam. It is from their Christmas TV special from a couple years ago. Welcome to the Pentatonix family. We love seeing your reactions!
I can't WAIT for you to get to their Christmas music!! Where I LOVE EVERYTHING they do, their Christmas music is my favorite. So much so that I listen to it all year. Love your reactions and can't wait for more!!!
I love how they end so crisp and clean - no hissing snakes. :o) In one of the areas that Kevin, the beatboxer, really shines, is when they do their "The Evolution of..." videos. These are medleys that change keys, times, rhythms and do it flawlessly. :o)
Hello, Adam :-))) I'm from Russia and I know mostly spoken English, but I try to sing in English and really like to listen to different covers of my favorite songs in English. So - this is the best cover of the song Sound Of Silence from all that I listened to. I have an auditory and vocal orgasm - this is a divinely beautiful sound and an amazing combination of voices! Just Bravo to Pentatonix!
I told you I'll be checking for more PTX reactions, you didn't disappoint :) Everything else that I wanted to say was already said, so... Greetings from Romania.
PTX have always been very respectful of each others space - they swell in and out vocally to support each other. We always say that although Scott often takes the lead on their tracks they really don't have a 'leader'... everyone gets their moments to shine. Thanks so much for the awesome and insightful reactions Adam - can't wait for the next one !!
I vote for you to react to their rendition of Can You Feel The Love Tonight. It is beautiful and surprising. These people have it totally going on! Enjoyed your reaction and I love listening to your voice ❣️
Was so happy to get the notification that you were reacting to this! One thing I've noticed about myself, other reactors, and YOU, is that people often smile when they listen to their music. I grew up listening to Simon & Garfunkel, loved the original, loved the Disturbed version, and I love this version too! Thanks xo
Your channel makes me happy! I love pentatonix.. this is the very first video of PTX is ever watched... and u watched it 1,000 times... I couldn't get enough... keep up the awesome job reacting. .
Yes, Kevin is both the conductor and the rhythm section -- the glue that binds the book. If you want to hear him sing as well, react to "Mary Did You Know?"
Suuuuper late comment, but I was lucky enough to catch a show on their first World Tour. They sounded just as mind-blowing as they are in their videos. Even more so because I was actually there to see them perform live, no instruments whatsoever. At one point in the show, they even asked the audience to stay very silent because they were about to do one song without microphones. I remember I cried after they were done. Absolutely phenomenal.
HI Adam and nice job on this video. I have been following them for several year but I will admit that my first reactions to them were just like yours. The song ends and you sit there and go "What ?". They are very creative and sort next level of the A Capella genre. They are also consistant with this, It is like they don't really have a weak song. Everything they do seems to be pretty incredible. Just in this song alone, you listen to that creative key change and your mouth drops ? Whoa, where did the come up with that ? Thanks for doing these Adam, and thanks for putting up with us.
I’m a diehard fan and I keep switching favorites depending on the song. They all shine in their own time but this togetherness is always there. You have such an amazing videography to go through. You will fall in love with everything they do. Fun to watch along with you. 🤗
The world tour is still happening - they are due in Europe in 2021 so you might want to check that out. They managed to finish the Australian/New Zealand leg just before Covid in February and they were amazing

“They are clearly World Class!”
That about sums it up!
I've grown fond of watching Adam's reactions to PTX. I find his comments so insightful and yet not too technical for me to understand.
just about every reactor misses the extremely low bass note that Matt hits at the end of his verse. It's a thing of beauty.

Aha! in Singapore
Pentatonix is the elite, gold standard of A Capella. No one does it better than them.
What you hear in a video is what you get live, it’s amazing!!
Love that song!!! ❤️❤️❤️ Insane performance!
Yes, huge Avi fan here, will be watching for your reactions to his work! This song & Shallow are two of my favorites put out by the post-Avi PTX !
It's so heartwarming to watch your Love to ptx growing. 💕 I'm sure you would be as emotional by reacting to "Mary did you know" by ptx or Freddy Mercury singing live "the Golden boy". Greetings from Germany!
I've been to a couple of their concerts and they actually sound just as good if not better live. Thanks for this reaction. 😊
There just amazingly mind blowing awesome.
There new song
Mad World is awesome as well.
Great Reaction Stay Safe
This was the song that got me into PTX a couple of years ago. Saw them in Manchester last year. They are brilliant and it was a fab gig. x
I left a list/info dump on the Hallelujah reaction... all that and Evolution of Music (it was my intro into PTX)
Welcome to the Pentaholics fandom! We LOVE reactors!
I completely agree with your reaction to their arrangement of The Sound of Silence. I love, love, love this song. I can say, they will top this as they continue releasing music. I'm very happy that I subscribed to your channel. 😊😊😊.
Many people have tried to cover this song but few came close to the original. These guys NAILED it!!
This version of the song never gets old to me. It takes me places that few songs do.
One of their originals is Run To You. Beautiful harmonies and it's the counter tenor that has the melody for most of it.
They won their 1st Grammy award for their video of Daft Punk.
It's so much fun watching you discover these amazing singers :-)
Welcome to the PTX rabbit hole!!
Sounds like you have become a Pentaholic!
I’m obsessed with them!
We took our boys to see them a couple of years ago!
It was an amazing show!
Scott Hoying (the tall blonde) is my favorite! 🔥
hey Mishel! gonna be in zoom tonight?
Spaceydoodle I’m going to try
Great reaction, as usual. You might want to check out the PTX version of "Run to You" and "Mary Did You Know" (a Christmas wonder!)
Oh wow I'd love to see this!
Look at Zoey Stormes TH-cam channel. I enjoy her dramatic use of ASL as she interprets the song.
Each one is a brill singer in his or her own right, put them together and you get perfect harmony's in motion perfect 💯great reaction as always 💯👌👍
Great reaction. I like the way you talk about everyone's abilities. Daft Punk is their Grammy winning performance if you wish to see something a upbeat by them.
Daft Punk! Yes!!!
the Grammy was for the arrangement not performance although I don't know HOW that video didn't win EVERY award that year smh
There have been a lot of good suggestions, any would be great, but I think "Imagine" is particularly appropriate for the time we are living in :-)
Thanks again!
You have to watch their cover of imagine! I can’t hear it without getting teary eyed, it’s stunningly beautiful! Fun to hear your reactions!
I told you I'll be checking for more PTX reactions, you didn't disappoint :) Everything else that I wanted to say was already said, so... Greetings from Romania.
Hey bud glad your getting to more Pentatonix....Hey Ptx fam
Hi Sean !
Hello!
Hey! How ya doin"
@@JoSedunary hey hey hey
@@Mahiahtree hey lisa
Someone else who doesn’t get enough credit: PTX wardrobe designer. What each wear is so unique and creates a perfect style.
They have just released Mad World and it is well worth the reaction!
"Hallelujah"!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! It's just breathtaking.
Geoff Alnutt I’ve already reacted to it! 😁
Great reaction. Anything you choose will not disappoint you
I vote for you to react to their rendition of Can You Feel The Love Tonight. It is beautiful and surprising. These people have it totally going on! Enjoyed your reaction and I love listening to your voice ❣️
I really like your reactions. I would suggest their cover of "imagine".
Thank you so much for this reaction ❤ Avi Kaplan has a beautiful song called Aberdeen! You will definitely love it ❤
Was so happy to get the notification that you were reacting to this! One thing I've noticed about myself, other reactors, and YOU, is that people often smile when they listen to their music. I grew up listening to Simon & Garfunkel, loved the original, loved the Disturbed version, and I love this version too! Thanks xo
YESSS!!! Please do some more soon! I'd love you to check their evolution videos... They are amazing!
Your channel makes me happy! I love pentatonix.. this is the very first video of PTX is ever watched... and u watched it 1,000 times... I couldn't get enough... keep up the awesome job reacting. .
This may be odd, but the first song that I heard Pentatonix do was Little Drummer Boy, I have been hooked ever since.
It's not odd (I don't think, I did too) Then I heard Mary Did You Know, White Winter Hymnal, Little Drummer Boy! I was a die hard fan by then! LOL
I think you would really like their version of MARY DID YOU KNOW. Just beautiful 😍.
I have already reacted to it :) th-cam.com/video/s8DFMSBB1KM/w-d-xo.html
Yes, Kevin is both the conductor and the rhythm section -- the glue that binds the book. If you want to hear him sing as well, react to "Mary Did You Know?"
Silent Night live and Say Something are also fantastic. Run to You will hit you in the feels.
Singapore Aha is phenomenal.
their dynamics are out of this world
The world tour is still happening - they are due in Europe in 2021 so you might want to check that out. They managed to finish the Australian/New Zealand leg just before Covid in February and they were amazing
