The hazard is that these needs may not be sufficiently met to ensure that the human being will be able to fulfill his basic nature. In general, we can say if these needs are not sufficiently met, there is a distortion of what a human being is in potential to such an extent that the expression of the potential results in the opposite of its true or basic nature. The idea that we do things to pass on our genes is not a completely useless idea yet it is nearly so not only because it is a partial understanding but also can be terribly misleading. To quote Jung: "We need more understanding of human nature because the only real danger that exist is man himself. He (in his lack of understanding of himself and the corresponding wisdom) is a great danger and we are pitifully unaware of it. We know nothing of man, far too little. This rightly should be studied because we are the origin (or need to take responsibility for)of all coming evil." Yes, it is not our fault yet we have the capacity to take responsibility such. This capacity is mainly cover over by our identification with partial views and the lack of attention and study of the whole.
