He should've honestly reviewed RayMan 2 Revolution for the PlayStation 2. It's the definitive version of RayMan 2.

PS1 has half the game missing, skipping and merging a bunch of levels. It has some things no other version (besides PS2 probably) has, but it's not really worth it.
The PS2 version has an open world thing where you have to walk around between the worlds instead of just jumping into portals. It has more enemies, bosses andmore levels (I think). It also has more characters and generally a lot more content. I wouldn't consider it the "definitive version" as it's a largely different remake, but it is the best version.

In my version of Rayman 2 (as a Yankee) Rayman actually does not speak, and neither does anyone else!
He just makes weird noises ('gabba gud scoob!') while the subtitles imply what he's saying. I actually liked this, as if he was speaking his own language. He even pronounces 'Globox' something closer to 'Glabbalox'. Globox sounds like Patrick Starr if he was a Simm and the pirates just sound like metallic robot chatter.
Voice acting is only in the PS1 and PS2.

It's only on the playstation version which is extremely different to the other ports. If you want Rayman 2 the ideal way to play it is on the Dreamcast followed by the PC. The PC version I would argue is the purest way to play Rayman 2 without anything being added or removed compared to the other versions.The ps1 version in that he's reviewing generally isn't well liked by fans

While Rayman 3d is a port for the 3ds, Rayman DS is another port for the DS and is a port of the original Rayman 2

Also, in Rayman 3, in exactly one moment in the entire game, you hear the alarm sound effect from the Star Wars films, too (called the "imperial klaxon", I believe).

Wow this is vastly different then what I remember the PC one being like. Final boss was you flying around in a semi open arena firing orbs at its hands to make it fall into lava a few times. Biggest difference is the voice acting, the PC one just has them talk gibberish.
I also don't remember the antitoons being in the PC version either.
Yeah, the PC and PS2 versions are very similar. PS1 is completely different from all of these, but the N64 and Dreamcast versions of the game are quite similar to the PC and PS2 variants.

I've played the N64, 3DS, PC and Dreamcast version and can say it's the best version on consoles. It's basicly the PC version but on a console and it doesn't have the voice acting they added on ps2 and ps1 versions.
Nitrorad actually review this, and yeah, the Dreamcast version. Was the most complete.
You can switch the voice acting on the PS2 port back to the gibberish.

BLOODY YES!!! I never played Rayman 2, but Rayman Revolution was the very first game I played as a kid, and still remains one of my favourites (although none of them top Rayman 3 ^_^).

I've played through Rayman 2, 100%, on the PS1, N64 and PS2.
PS2 is the best version, by far. The N64 version is a good one to go back to if you want to see how the game orignally was, as that is actually the first version of Rayman 2. Either that or the Dreamcast version since they're practically identical.
PS1 I can't recommend that well, to be honest.
If I might, I'll add that the PC version of the game is exactly the same as the N64 version. Kind of wish they would release the PS2 version on there as well, but I'm more than happy with the PC version as is, one of my favourite games. ^_^

It's actually avaliable on Good Old Games for about 6 bucks. Like you said it's the same as the N64 version, but with improved graphics and sound.

Originally Rayman 2 was going to be like Rayman 1 as there is a bonus level in the PS1 version that has a level of that build.

I'm kinda mad he didn't talk about how the Ninja Pirate and (this version of) the final were exclusive to the PS1. Also, the PS1 version's the only way to play the 2D Rayman 2 prototype.
The main reason why people hate Rayman 2 on the PS1 is because it’s missing chunks of levels Do to all the sound files taken up the desk space Which is the voice acting
Watching this video made me realise I was basically playing a different game... I've only played the pc version so things like the final boss chase and the black gremlins from Rayman 1 I've never seen before.
Also, there was voice acting? In my version Rayman just gibbered some random lines I assumed to be French and every time Li opened her mouth it sounded like a spaceship flew by.
The Antitoons from Rayman 1 are only in the PS1 version, so they are easy to miss. Same with the Voice Acting, which is only in PS1 and Revolution (albeit redone and improved in the latter), all other versions including Revolution have the "Raymanese" you are used to.
Every version of Rayman 2 has something unique that the other versions don't have, it's almost like they had completely separate teams working on each port.
I don't believe the PC version has anything unique about it. It's basically the 2nd best way to play the game after the Dreamcast unless you want to go for the vastly different PS2 version

The other versions don't have voice acting. And it's way better.
Revolution does, though as shown in Caddy's snippets it's not only improved, but also allows you to switch between it and the "Raymanese" found in the other versions.

As a kid, this mood whiplash made me shit myself!! I only ever got to the mosquito as a kid in Rayman 1 never got further, and I never got much further in Rayman 2 (a purple robot pirate that chases AND shoots at you scared me back then). Now, I'm pretty far in the game but 'Land of fire and rock' can go fuck itself!! And so can the missile dogs for their shitty controls!
Also, I've only ever played this on the PS1, the comparison on the voices was appreciated. Maybe have to look up Revelations
