When they were making Bubsy 3D, they basically had a tech demo and decided to go to see E3 to see what Nintendo was doing for inspiration. Nintendo was doing Mario 64. They lost their shit and slapped a bunch of bells and whistles to said tech demo to try to "Finish" it in a reasonable amount of time. So not only was it made by people who were just text adventure designers- they lost their shit and PANICKED when shown what the standard was.

This is actually my favorite Bubsy 3D review by far! The cameos are nice, his dry British wit is lovely, and can we all bow to the London Symphony Arm-Farters for their grand performance they provided for Caddy?

This game was supposed to be released for Sega 32X, but then they changed the target platform. In Sega 32X this wouldn't be seen that bad, it would be still a bad game, but more like a weird 3D experiment for the 32X where nodody would expected some quality.
It was actually planned for the sega saturn.
