- Caldwell Jones, a towering figure on the basketball court, possessed incredible talent and the potential for a remarkable career in the NBA. As a young player, he showed promise and dazzled audiences with his defensive prowess and shot-blocking abilities. However, beneath the surface of his success, a tragic narrative unfolded, revealing a life marked by personal struggles and hardships.

Caldwell was a great guy and treated everyone with respect and friendliness. He had a terrific memory.
But it's sad because of his fate, it's so sad
Saw him as a young 76 er, followed his career. Met him when he was with the Trailblazers. He was a humble, kind giant. Spent hours with him each day for 5 days. He was good at leadership and example to young players.
I know nothing tragic about his life.
He was respected by all coaches, and fellow players. A private person but genuinely kind and humble. RIP
He's your ucar idol right
As a Seattle born in 1973 Sonics and Blazers fan, and Japanese-American, it's very clear why I was rooting for the Rockets in 1994-95. That brother Charles Jones won a ring, is just another bonus about the Rockets winning. I read that all three brothers, Caldwell, Major and Will, were in attendance, when Charles' Rockets team finished the 4-0 sweep over the Magic.

wow you are a very knowledgeable person about this sport
"Will make any sacrifice for the sake of the team, and is one of the truest professionals in the game.' And, "He says that the worst time in his life wasn't the 20-62 record with the Rockets. It was when they took The Flintstones off of television when he was a kid."
Thank you
Rip Caldwell Jones

1973- Professional career started in the ABA. San Diego Conquistadors until 1975,Kentucky Colonels 1975,Spirits of St Louis til 76. Post merge,ABA into NBA- St Louis wasn't one of the 4 ABA teams that was absorbed. THEN he went to the 76ers,who had rights to his contract, from the 73 NBA draft
Thank you for the very useful information
5:45 There was nothing tragic about his career, or life, if anybody can gather footage of Rich Kelley, that would be the ultimate! Kelley was too early, to be able to collect much footage on. I love how his prime season was 16 points, 12 rebounds, 3.5 assists, and 2 blocks. That's All-Star caliber.
we thank you so much
He at first okaywd is the ABA.
Oh we sincerely apologize for that incident
What was so tragic about his life?
Each of us has our own limits
@ Ed brown: I met this brother at Albany State where his brother was the head coach. You couldn't not have met a warm better person than a ball player. Had he not played with so many known stars he would have been a full blown star. His entire family were just like him Good PEOPLE!
Who wrote the script for this video? A five year old could have done a better job!!
that is completely wrong
Same comment over and over ...
Can you say clearer
@@NBASadStories Good subject but there's at least five different comments constantly repeated.
@@cwatson5761 that we still can't explain
Why doesn't this page ever have any white athletes on it.
Also, why is it always "tragic ending"?
I'm not looking at no more of these.
Thank you for your comments about our mistakes, we sincerely thank you very much
