Well, yea, as both said, drafting Steph was only one piece of everything else that went right for the Warriors to become that dynasty, so the Knicks doing only one of those things doesn't mean they would've had that success.
The "what if" question about Steph is interesting. When the Warriors gave him that first "big" contract, which turned out to be the best bargain in the league, there were questions about that.
I remember the media asking the question "should you give someone with his injury issues that contract?" Lacob did, Dolan would've probably sent him away, like he sent away so many other players after a few years without success (even without injury issues).
So not only would the Knicks not have that success, if Steph had the same personal career track (not winning as much without the rest of the Warriors moves) his good years wouldn't be with the Knicks anyway.
Dell has been telling that Knicks draft story for years. Why is this an item today of all days? Are the Knicks fans in the studio having such a hard time with Boston winning a championship yesterday?
But the Knicks did have Carmelo Anthony, Chauncey Billups and Amare Stoudermire at the time. Granted health would still be an issue, but talent wise, Steph with that cast would probably a good Eastern Conference contender.

Mark Jackson is the one that allowed Steph and Klay to shoot the ball whenever they felt like it from wherever they felt like shooting it from. No NBA coach had ever done that. Teams were shooting 7 to 8 three-pointers again and Mark Jackson allow them to shoot as many three-pointers as they wanted to, that is the difference
Steph Curry would probably have more scoring titles and more eye popping numbers like he did in 2021. His 2021 season was out of necessity cause he was playing with a bag of chips and roll of tissue paper(32/6/6 on 48/43/92 splits). His career average on the Knicks would’ve been more like 29/5/8 or something but obviously with how poorly that franchise is run he’d have no rings, although Steph and Carmelo would’ve been interesting to see.
The funny thing about Stephen A. He was one of the ones who said Curry is the Small the be successful in the NBA. And probably someone who boo'ed when Knicks drafted KP. Stephen A Smith aka Back Paddling King. Also The GSW have had the best player Development staff in history since 2015.

even of the Knicks had drafted Steph Curry, they woulda traded him to Denver in the package for Carmelo Anthony during the 2010 or 2011 season.
...as for 2017, NO, nobody told the Knicks to draft Donovan Mitchell. not that many people were high on Spida going into the draft.
the player the Knicks were going to select would of been Malik Monk; until Phil Jackson veto'd that and wanted Frank Ntilikina.
but to be clear, it was never going to be Donovan Mitchell.
but back to the original topic, Steph Curry woulda been moved in the deal to bring Carmelo Anthony to NY and NO ONE would have been against trading Curry especially with his early ankle problems.

If Steph Curry had got drafted to Knicks in 2009, he would've asked out of New York by the year 2012 or 2013. Knicks Front Office and James Dolan would've found a way to rub Steph Curry the wrong way (figuratively & literally) back then. Steph would've been on a new team by 2013.
