10 years ago, I sold all my Magic cards. I was 'clean', no TCGs, just 'regular' board games. Then I played the SWU Prerelease in my FLGS. Now I'm hooked! Such a great game! Love the Twin Suns format! I hope that FFG continues to support this game for many, many years.
I a big TCG player and SWU is in my top 3 favorite tcg all time! Elegant, dynamic gameplay and really deep. Like you this game reanimate my flame for Star Wars, i have read again all my comics just because this game is so cool! Also in my first box i get a showcase card so the force tell me SWU is for me haha!
@@Aldana-Alone that’s awesome! I’m glad to hear you’re enjoying it! What deck are you running? Also nice!!!! I pulled a showcase Hunter from set 2. Which showcase did you get?
@@BanterandBoards I play a lot Palpatine yellow in the first set and also Luke green... Now i play Rey / Red ( even if i not a fan of the character) the deck have everything i like, so cool to play! I have a Chewbacca showcase!
@@ProfTomahawk Nice! That’s awesome, congrats! We had the PQ a couple weeks back and someone one who had young Han blue got 2nd, I’m hearing good stuff about him!
@@BanterandBoards not so much difference i think. Boba Yellow was the winner yesterday, palp green 2nd and bossk blue top 4, like me. I have seen 2 suprising decks, heroic boba red and luke yellow, but didnt play against them :D
@@ProfTomahawk wow! Heroic boba red? That’s different for sure my brother pulled out an old han blue at a store showdown yesterday and people were thrown off with it. That sometimes helps!
I played MtG for 10 years and quit because of all the bad things the company started doing. SWU has been my favorite new TCG. Similar to Magic but different enough to be its own thing. Love the drawn art. Not a fan of a lot of the digital art mtg is doing now. The competitive circuit for this game is great too. Worth mentioning. I will be traveling a lot to play next year! I’ve been playing weekly at my LGS for months now. More engaging than Lorcana. Grand Archive is a game I’ve also got my eye on.
How would you compare it to The Deckbuilding game? I usually avoid TCG because i feel it’s has a pay-to-win element. And that’s why I went the the deckbuilding instead. Congrats on 1000 subscribers 🎉 Btw my favorite character is Han, because he shot first!
@@JoaquinReinoso great question! So I love SW deck building game and originally stayed away from SWU because I had fears of getting in on a TCG and was content with my deck building game buttttt the artwork drew me in on SWU and the gameplay kept me in. I honestly think it’s fairly balanced, the “meta” is still taking shape. Granted, there will be cards in general that will help your deck be better as in any game, but I don’t think it’s by a large margin, you can stay fairly competitive and win if you just outplay your opponent. The game FEELS like a chess match as you only make 1 move per turn. Set 1 cards got a little pricey because FFG printed less supply than demand but they are reprinting set 1 this winter so cards will for that set will be pretty cheap again. Set 2 cards aren’t expensive at all because there was enough supply! I feel like the game is fairly healthy and balanced at the moment with the exception of the Boba leader, he’s pretty dang good and it’s a cheap leader card. Also they did their first competition “season 0” a couple of weeks ago to intentionally get new players familiar with that scene. It was fun! And there’s a lot of cheap deck options out there that are REALLY good! Check swudb.com and they have TONS of deck options! The Han card in this game is pretty dope too!
@@BanterandBoards hmm... I'm going to check it out a little bit more, maybe it's worth the try. Got a friend nearby who wants to get into it. That's for the page recommendation!
@@JoaquinReinosoi just started playing, spent about 100$ to get in (a starter box and a 24×box), ehich gave me a fine base to build loads of usable deck, first game night i went to i went 2-3 with my homemade Bo-Katan deck. The communuty is great and the game fun, 10/10 recommend if ypu are a SW fan and game enjoyer.
Check in with your lgs to hear if they have players playing on a specific day. Most of us who has been in the game since the beginning has tons of cards to literally give away. You can make a pretty solid deck (Tarkin Yellow (Leader and Color of the base)) with just commons / uncommons and a few very cheap rares. I absolutely love this game, however, it is a licensed game, which generally tends to have a shorter lifespan than orginal tcg's. That said, they supposedly already have the next 7 expansions planned out. :)
@@Lizardwithdahat haha! Ok I will admit, the first Han did throw me off but it’s grown on me. I do like they give the artists a lot of creative freedom so it gives us a lot of different flavor instead of it all being the same and generic
Star Wars dying is a good thing, each release hemorrhaging money because people are tired of getting bad content. The sooner it dies or they get their act together to make better films and shows the better, I’d rather it become a legacy ip like the thing or have it sold off to another studio (which will never happen) than see it further destroyed by the incompetence leadership at lucasfilm. For me Star Wars died in 2014 when they axed the EU, then they turn around and say “we didn’t have any history or comics to go off of for the sequels.” And proceed to use and abuse the ideas and concepts from the eu in current canon. It’s like a zombie of a family member, it just reminds you off who they were and what they meant to you and ultimately what they are now is just a husk of what they were. People are tired of bad writing and ruining characters they love.
Lorcana had huge balance issues after two sets and that game is flying now. FFG may have made some missteps in the past but I’ve been really impressed with their transparency around the development of SWU. And yeah they may have messed up with Destiny but I’m sure they’ve learnt a lot from that. They’ve got a good track of supporting their LCG games at least. At the end of the day, if it’s makes them money then they’ll keep supporting it (and SWU has vastly outsold Destiny from what I’ve read)
@@R8C2 yeah, on their latest stream they’ve been saying they’re keeping a close in on which leader is winning more consistently (boba) so curious to see what happens
