I remember I was playing silent 3 with a friend of mine, big guy like 6'2 240ish..the game gave him jump scares and he said he slept with the lites on for a while.
I still think that this is one of the greatest video game film adaptations that has ever been made; while it may not be 100% faithful to the original video game, it is still utterly terrifying and manages to stand on its own as a solid supernatural horror film.
“You stand upon your ‘hallowed ground’ and call yourself righteous… But God’s eyes strip away your false devotion, leave your sins bare on your skin. You cursed this place when you knowingly spilled the blood of the innocent and now… You and your black flock shall finally receive your just reward; a swift return to Hell.”
I gotta say silent hill was one my fave. i never played the game but i enjoyed the horror and one thing i strive for is you fight evil with evil. and this really gave that meaning.
This take on silent hill was very 'for the cinema' crowd. It was obvious the way the original game story worked it couldn't have been translated well into a cinematic format if they stuck to just how that was. But for what it's worth, this was an okay adaptation. Making Dahlia into a victim and even getting some redemption, having Alessa go full vengeance, involving the cult more prominently. Only downside was not having Harry in it, maybe they thought having a mother being the focus made more sense to them in Rose.
"Alessa, what've you become?" Would've loved if alessa had held an outstretched hand for her mother and said "it's time to come home mommy " after that line.
I remember how I felt when I saw this scene the first time. My best friend had invited me to join him and his neighbor group friends when it was in theaters. When Christabella was punished, I shrank in my seat because damn I kinda felt that, being a girl and all. I knew basically nothing of Silent Hill at the time so I kinda discovered the franchise with this movie. I still believe it's a very solid movie. The scene itself is extra satisfying after you uncover the full story, these people had it coming and deserved every bit of punishment they got for their delusional actions.
So if we consider the Fog World and Otherworld to be some sort of purgatory, a place where the living can get in touch with the dead, then Christabella and her cultists died twice. Think about it. The fire broke out in 1974, eats up the entire town slowly until deemed too dangerous to even demolish the old buildings. We never see any of the cultists leaving the hotel. And to top it off they look just about the same age despite the 30 year gap. What a way to go for a movie villain, first burnt to a crisp, then split in half by barbed wire.
@@hakubestgirl That's not the case. Their bodies weren't found in the Real World, it's not like their corpses would just disappear from the crash site. Plus, they interact with the Real World to some extent while trapped in the Fog World. In multiple instances Chris hears and smells his wife, more explicitly at Midwich. He very clearly smells her perfume, but the officer buffs it off as acute intoxication from the burning coal beneath the streets and they hastily evacuate the town.
Im reminded of a specific interaction in the first few episodes of Castlevania when i see this. "God...is in all his churches..." "Your god is not here. This is an empty box" "My doings are in his service!" "Your actions...make him puke. Your gods love is not unconditional. He does not love us. But...we love you....we couldnt be here without you... Let me...kiss you...." Blue Fang and the bishop.
Say what you want about this iteration, atmospherically, THIS is the BEST adaptation of the Silent Hill IP. Technically, Sean Bean's character IS dead in this movie, he just CAN'T stay dead, which is WORSE than being normal dead.
My favorite part in this scene is when Alessa climbs up the ladder hahaha but seriously in truth the bad people brought it on themselves.and Alessa just had enough all them years sge suffered 😢😢😢 and what's worse is that this precious child was just a child and im very content that Alessa's mother was a loving mother towards this beautiful little girl unlike in the video game that had Harry Mason. All i can say is that in my own life i hope that i do not lose sight of who i am as a person and get spiritually lost due to the continuous abuse that I too suffer since 2010 I know that one poster on here doesn't believe in prayer , but I keep praying that i will get my individual autonomy my individual human rights finally respected and that I get out of this nightmare and Hell that a parent put me in all because he wanted to play God and live My life for me. I'm still holding on to what faith I can . Because i really do not want to go down 👇 that road again, I was once on that road before i found my Faith but i do not want to go down that path and lose my Faith 😢
This scene was amazing. Especially when the organ music kicks in and Rose turns to the crowd, and Alessa rises up behind her with all her barbed wire floating around. It's intense.

Well said mate, this movie is not under appreciated nor underrated at all, its just trending words used to exaggerate things because to this moment i've never heard anyone say such words, this movie had a very strong fan audicence back in the day and still has.
mother is god in the eyes of a child
Superb quote from The Crow.
I love that movie.
Legendary
The crow would support alessas revenge
Under-rated movie for sure
4:40 now that is what I call I satisfying end
ABSOLUTLY ! 0w0
Still love this film. Genuinely creepy!
Looking forward to the real part 2 from this director. I still think this movie is the best adaptation of the game.
same here, this movie deserves a proper sequel made by someone who understands Silent Hill and have talent like Gans. not some idiot putting jumpscares everywhere and making pyramid head a good guy.
@@karasushiro2636when you binge the first and revelations. The tones so different and I couldn't even take revelations seriously AT ALL😂 I'm so excited for this director as well!
@@zackisaak4837 i bought the bluray box with both movies and i binge watched both, thinking that maybe my memories of the second were just bad, but as you said, its impossible to take it seriously. xD
Too many inconsistencies, I hate it anytime pyramid hear is used in any format other than James’s POV when Masahiro made a model specifically for this reason. That and Alessas mom being made into almost a victim here, they had the right idea but they should’ve kept with the actual story. I hope the new movies don’t make the same mistakes
The new movie will have james but he's not married to Mary he's her side guy and her actual husband is named Jacob presumably the one who killed her was Jacob for finding out about James and Laura is not in it but replaced with an adult woman the only thing they didn't change was eddie
There is not Dark Alessa. It's an evil entity visually manifested in the form of child Alessa. It says it has been called many names over the ages, and for this ocasion it calls itself "the reaper" reaping the fruit of evil of the false church.

Even though I'm not a big fan of horror, Silent Hill is one I probably watch without getting too scared
fr
I remember I was playing silent 3 with a friend of mine, big guy like 6'2 240ish..the game gave him jump scares and he said he slept with the lites on for a while.
I think it's about time we got a live action series of Alma from FEAR
Fear one of my fave games !🔥
100%
One of the few horror films of the last 50 years that I actually liked
I still think that this is one of the greatest video game film adaptations that has ever been made; while it may not be 100% faithful to the original video game, it is still utterly terrifying and manages to stand on its own as a solid supernatural horror film.
One of the most satisfying scenes in cinema history.
When that organ plays its a chefs iiss
It adds to the creepy vibe perfectly
arguably the best video game movie adaptation to date.
A satisfying moment where we get to see the bad people getting what they deserve.
"Your Faith Brings DEATH!"
Highly applicable words of wisdom. Surely in these times.
Christabella's death is very similar to Frank's in the "Hellraiser" movie.
Jeeeeesus.... wept....
@@jeremyallen5974 Yes, exactly that one
Oof I’m not sure which is worse.
I gotta say silent hill was one my fave. i never played the game but i enjoyed the horror and one thing i strive for is you fight evil with evil. and this really gave that meaning.
One thing I’ll forever love about silent hill is the reality bending.
I really liked this movie, really one of the best game to film adaptations I have come across. I don't get all the hate it got

They brought this fate upon themselves. I’d wish Dark Alissa well and be on my merry way
The effects of this movie were amazing.
"Alessa, what've you become?" Would've loved if alessa had held an outstretched hand for her mother and said "it's time to come home mommy " after that line.
One of the best horror movie ever made
I remember how I felt when I saw this scene the first time.
Still 90% of the new horror movies can't beat this
The graphic here the scene. Cold Dark Bloody can't see that anymore. Now it's over the top drama & total darkness. This was incredible
Alessa getting revenge was so satisfying
One of the greatest revenge stories in cinema
Moral of the story: don't horrifically burn a little a girl because she didn't have a dad.
Love how Cristabelle got f*!#€d by razor wire. 😂
The song from Metallica for whom the bell tolls really rocks this scene!
Do you know the name of the song by any chance?
For whom the bell tolls by Metallica
@@dirtydishwolf1633 Actually, it's *Kill God* from the game "Silent Hill 3"
One of my all time favourite films and ive never seen or played the game, this and interstellar would be in my top ten.
God and Devil on seeing this:
“Truce for today?”
“Truce and those cultist freaks are all yours. Have a party bro.”
What a way to go for a movie villain, first burnt to a crisp, then split in half by barbed wire.
that's a good theory. would also explain rose and sharon being stuck in the fog world (because they died in the crash)
Rose: "YOUR FAITH BRINGS DEATH!!!!!"
3:38 when your sins coming back to haunt you.
Dark Alessa, You are Awesome!❤️❤️❤️
Im reminded of a specific interaction in the first few episodes of Castlevania when i see this.
"God...is in all his churches..."
"Your god is not here. This is an empty box"
"My doings are in his service!"
"Your actions...make him puke. Your gods love is not unconditional. He does not love us. But...we love you....we couldnt be here without you... Let me...kiss you...."

Pinhead Approved.
Say what you want about this iteration, atmospherically, THIS is the BEST adaptation of the Silent Hill IP.
Technically, Sean Bean's character IS dead in this movie, he just CAN'T stay dead, which is WORSE than being normal dead.
He isn’t dead. What are you talking about? This isn’t SH3.
I love this movie
Раньше меня очень пугали такие фильмы, сейчас и новостей достаточно.
I love it when the organ music starts playing, that's when you realize that everyone went to hell
'Give me the strength to stay pure' and where the barbed wire went...
I like when Dahlia walks through the meat.
This scene was amazing. Especially when the organ music kicks in and Rose turns to the crowd, and Alessa rises up behind her with all her barbed wire floating around. It's intense.
This is still a fantastic movie!
I'm wondering how the hell alessa was not killed by the barbed wire
It's kind of sad that at the time this was considered a pretty bad video game movie adaptation but so many worse garbage adaptations have come out since that it's now looked back on as being relatively good.
This is what retribution looks like for those done wrong. Alessa did nothing wrong yet they treated her horrible. She was never evil.
0:26 Look at the Glee on that man’s face over something so horrific lol
Hands down one of my all time favorites. Another is V for Vendetta.
This is why I love horror.
Reminds me of the evil within or constantine.
