      This game provided me the baseline SFX I expect in games... that pistol sound, the screams, the music...

    In Die Hard With a Vengence, you can do 90 degree turns using either the Shoulder or Trigger buttons, making fast turns at supper speeds effortless, i am honestly baffled you didn't know you could do that, and didn't even try all the controls . Watching you turn with just the slow way was painful !

      If I'm not mistaken, it was one or both titles on the PS1 that supported a laptop steering wheel controller for the driving portion of the games. There may have been one or two of the analog protocols of certain steering wheel controllers on the market that didn't want to work well but I don't recall. Also, if you're not going to beat the crap out of the pedals of the steering wheel controller, one of the pedals can be used as a duck / reload pedal for your light gun gaming when plugged in to the other Port alongside your lightgun but I don't recommend it as it will wear out that pedal set very fast if not break something. I highly recommend plugging in a cheap d-pad only controller and stepping on the face buttons or wiring in a foot pedal switch to that controller to give you the arcade pedal reload/duck experience.

    A game secret in die hard 2 is to shoot straight away the red chopper (or maybe the police one?) on the very first parking area where the game starts. Give you instant double pistols by default.

    • @That_Handle
      @That_Handle 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Heck, didn't know _that_ !! Do I need to plug in 2 lightgun controllers or do both of the character's guns aim at the same on-screen reticle my single lightgun would be targeting, simply laying down more bullets in a span of time? I was out of controller ports because I was using the second port to plug in another controller to be used as a foot pedal for reloading / taking cover.

    • @afterburner94
      @afterburner94 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@That_Handle nice tip for the 2nd controller used as a pedal! Fortunately it just add another gun to the screen with a second mag appearing so you know you shoot now 2 bullets instead of one.

    Nostalgia trip for me man... I used to watch my uncle play video games as a kid as it was like watching a really long movie, Metal Gear, Syphon Filter, Resident Evil, great games to just sit and watch someone play.... sort of like modern day tv shows. My mom got him this for Christmas one year and I watched him play it and played it myself trying to see how far I could go. The first one in the building was my favorite, just seemed so open-ended and fun to go level to level.

    Am adding the MadCatz 8288 3-mode lightgun to the list of compatible lightgun controllers here. It has proven itself on everything from Elemental Gearbolt, Area 51, the Point Blank series, the Die Hards, the rare shooter sequences of Star Wars: Rebel Assault II and the first Silent Hill not to forget the PS1 Time Crisis games all the way through to PS2's Time Crisis (2 & 3 support PS2 s400 / 4-pin Firewire system-linking for having the rare arcade twin-screen, 2-P experience that will require 2 lightguns) + Dino Stalker titles, Endgame, Starsky and Hutch, Vampire Night, Ninja Assault and Resident Evil: Dead Aim. Unfortunately (because of the pressure from lawmakers in North America?), NTSC-U/C didn't get a lightgun supporting sequel to their previously lightgun-supporting Gunfighter: The Legend of Jesse James from the PS1. 🤷‍♂️
    🔴 The Madcatz doesn't include a foot pedal or foot pedal jack into which a foot pedal can be plugged in but it does have well-placed buttons utilized for reloading / ducking behind cover, using grenades (Area 51) or changing weapon (Elemental Gearbolt). Both of those buttons are located on both sides for left- as well as right-handed players in addition to the hand grip / magazine buttons if the game doesn't utilize shooting off-screen for reloading.
    🔴 It has rumble for titles that provided such a signal;
    🔴 a D-pad;
    🔴 3 modes of firing/reloading
    🔴 3 modes of compatibility - "Normal" (operates like the Konami Justifier for likes of Die Hard, Elemental Gearbolt and Area 51) , Guncon 1 and Guncon 2 ;
    🔴 they come with three plugs - a USB plug, PlayStation controller plug and the video tap T-plug.....
    ⏭ For NTSC's use of the video tap plug, either:
    👉 1) plug it in-line with the green cable of component video cables, or ....
    👉 2) when used with an S-video CRT setup, plug the lightgun video tap plug onto the unused, disconnected yellow composite video plug which, for most S-video AV cables with an inclusive composite connector, will provide lightgun syncing through it and over to the S-video connection.
    🔴 If you want something close to foot pedal support, many of the PS1 (and, iirc, including possible PS2 experiences) support plugging in a handheld controller into the second controller port where reloading is executed by pressing a shape face-button. Also, if you don't mind potentially breaking your PS1/PS2 steering wheel pedal assembly, those controllers typically can also be plugged into the other controller port and stomped on but I'm advising against it - one of my Mad Catz laptop steering wheels had one of the pedals split in half laterally when being utilized in that manner. Only use the driving controller pedals for the Die Hard driving game and then swap it out for the basic, cheap digital controller (which can easily be modded to afford a foot pedal experience). One could also try a multi-tap in an attempt to see if you could plug in all three controllers and not have to swap them out but I doubt anything beyond two controllers will be simultaneously recognized.
    🔴 As for the first Die Hard release (as with some other PS1 lightgun games) , it supports mouse controller aiming if you don't have a light gun, iirc, but I'm not sure if all gameplay options are available. You would likely need a second controller plugged in to complete your menu access/selection controls scheme.
    🤔🤚 Not many are aware of it from what I've seen }---> Starsky and Hutch supports a decent co-op experience - using both a lightgun controller and a DS2 or, preferrably, a laptop steering wheel (also a MadCatz in my case) - for acting out both characters' roles in each "episode" being filmed - the game's premise - during which both players are garnering TV ratings through the driver's stunts/waypoints/([hiddens], IIRC) while the other player fires at ~bonus/points pick-ups and the vehicle they are chasing until the episode's antagonist's vehicle stops to bring the chase to an end.
    Best wishes.👍

    I used to love this game, but I never got anywhere.
    It felt like I was constantly repeating the same thing over and over again, but I loved it nevertheless

    One thing is useful to know: one can save the progress in each game through the pause menu. In another note, I hated game 2 the most. It could be my lack of skill in those types. Third one was a bit annoying as well. Also, the final level of the third game had the greatest muzak in the game.

    Light guns do work well on Die Hard, but the G-con45 is not supported, put there are patched ISOs out there for other non G-con45 games that make the Namco guns work (link below)
    th-cam.com/video/ruIvl83zRGU/w-d-xo.html
    There is also a debug or game editor for the light gun title as well which lets you make your own paths and events.
    The driving tile has the triggers for 90degree turning so handling is easy in my opinion.
    Regardless good video, thank you

    The Die-Hard 1 game goes to the next level with cheats.
    As a kid, I remember how fun it used to be to use all of the different weapons and have unlimited ammo and health.
    They also had a cheat where enemies would float off into the sky after you kill them lol I never played for the high score but pure entertainment value lol #memoriesman

    If I could make a suggestion for a PS1 game to play (Review), it would be "Project Overkill" for the PS1 and made by Konami.
    Its an isometric shooter, think Diablo with guns. You have 4-characters (assassins) and when one dies then they are gone for good, and when all 4 characters die, its game over. The characters are two humans (male & female) and two aliens. Each assassin has their own weapon types and animations. The controls are a bit quirky to some, as the face buttons determine where you aim, which some have complained about but I feel works well since it allows you to move in one direction and yet shoot in another. Here is a video link to determine if its something that appeals to you or not....

    It's sad that history is written by the victors or in this case the more popular game. GTA literally ripped off DHT driving and open-world and Resident Evil ripped off Alone in the Dark (yes a capcom horror was released in the 80s but that's more like a Zelda game) and these barely gets mention at all in fact no ones talking about this.
