bali is not an island its a mainland
It's better if it's simple, not the one where almost everyone is wearing a bikini. You can see their v_g_n_ right thru. The place has lost its decency. They have turned the place into a westerner atmosphere. The Mayor should make beach rules. It's just my opinion.
actualy siargao they called it break away place because some locals dont need internet for thier vaction , a vacation no tech no office work, just full fun

We Preserve the authenticity of our islands as it is. As a paradise! It cannot be a paradise if it is not a nature made, to the likes of a digital nomad. You can stay in Bali if you like there. Our islands are for people looking for an escape, a haven from a world of complicated confusing battles of accumulation of everyday life!!
There are lots of touristy islands that can be good for your particular liking!!

I think People who does these comparison between Bali and Siargao are forgetting that Bali has decades to get their infrastructure to work on and improve. With Bali's proximity to Australia helped a lot. Aussies been visiting Bali since the 70s as the surfing destination. The main reason is because it is cheaper to travel to Bali than to travel around Australia.. Siargao on the other hand is a very recent tourist spot. Give the island a couple of decades only then the two islands should be compared.
Siargao is a new and rising tourist destination, It is like comparing grandpa and grandson

It is just a matter of preference. Siargao is getting more touristy now but i still want it to be more laidback and not tourist-infested. Those who prefer bali more can always choose to go back there.

I would say, I prefer resto or Coffee shop no internet at all. I observed that everyone is more busy with cellphone than concentrating to savoir the food or coffee. These places are not for staying longer that what it is intended to offer. You eat, dine and go, let others make use of your slot as they may also in their way after eating or dining. Though it's harsh for me to say, but then everyone you go Turing becuase u want to enjoy the place not sulking on ur phone.

That's the problem of many tourists comparing each country. The thing that they don't understand is CULTURE. It's just a matter of fact that other culture don't prioritize this and that and on the other hand they do. Even if you go island to island you will see the differences. Even us Filipinos not native to other parts of the Islands sometimes feel culture shock because of diversity.
for me, what's indicative is how the final choice was made, despite what you pointed out as the very german, organized, logical way of looking at things. it seems like if it was made with a point system, bali would be the chosen one. even you looked surprised by her choice, at first...although you did agree, too. again, what i see is how it's indicative of what people, in general, look for in our lives: balance. while, of course, there's value to very systematic, logical and efficient way of doing things, humans aren't robots or purely AI and there's the very real need for a robust social aspect...that real interaction with a real community and real people...the very real need to have real conversations and interactions.

True is hard to compare bother places. It's just depends what you like, sometimes to get away from the city life and Untouch natural place is better. The less technology the better, to relax.
Here's what a representative of globe told me (so don't quote me), to build sites globe needs to buy or lease the land it will be built on, unfortunately the vast majority of siargao is protected land, so trying to find lots is very difficult.
They compare so you're aware what to expect whenever you travel there. Especially with first timer traveler going there. Etc.. And your expenses, the culture....
From those comparisons those places can see these videos to better and improve and have ideas on what people think of their place, any places
Tourist can’t compare Bali an island province of 5k+ square km to siargao an island of a province of just 400 square km land area in all ways..if a tourist do so,its between cebu province and bali,almost same land area and you can see the big diffirence..very good video to react Nelly,have a nice weekend.

Bali can ba compared to Cebu
Cebu land area 4,944 square kilometers. Although Bali is bigger land area but Cebu has a city and one of the best airport in Asia. Awarded recently as best airport in Asia under 5Million passengers category.

Siargao is just recently develop and touristy spot compared to Bali. What I like Siargao is not crowded not a lot of people. But Siargao is developing tourist Island.
Lucky for everyone heading to Indo, they could embraced unique culture of Bali, wondering it's thousands of temples, surf it's ultra consistent surf breaks. And whenever they feel like to surf with smaller crowd of close friends and family they could go to Mentawai Islands, with way better beaches, way better surf waves than Siargao, amazing and polite traditional locals (ones that do not necessarily dancing wildly on the bridge with bikinis despite being biological mens😂😂😂😂)
Comparing Bali and Siargao it's like comparing apple to orange.

Ultimately foreigners coming to SEA would choose Bali, BKK, Phuket, Singapore, Manila, etc, as some of the places that they find info about easily online. This is an excellent channel to tell the current administration to improve things. The Philippines has recently launched several initiatives to promote the Philippines as a tourist destination, but there has yet to be anything regarding internet connection. It is true that. 'IT IS MORE FUN IN THE PHILIPPINES' BUT NOT INTERNET CONNECTION (in some tourist areas). This is a complete and honest title, so tourists and visitors will only expect some things to be correct. I will echo what Nelly said. SMART AND GLOBE WAKE UP!!!!!!!
As bloggers can see and hear, she still chose the Philippines despite its internet flaws. I love the Philippines and, of course, Nelly. Even though I live in the US, my heart still belongs to my hometown, Manila.🥰

Why compare Bali which has been a managed tourist destination for nearly a century already, with Siargao which is only emerging as a destination of note in the past 10 years or so only? Definitely Siargao is still raw in many respects, even if it has some luxe side to it. The tourists that should go to Siargao are those that prefer the simpler, authentic destinations that offers more direct connections with nature and with people, rather than those looking for comforts and other stuff in 'contrived' set ups. Bali is decades ahead in commercial tourism. But personally I wouldn't want Siargao to rush, join the rat race and go for the numbers game, at the expense of its environment, social values, natural allure, etc. I prefer a more laid back vibe for our islands. I dont want to 'destroy' my country and my people in the name of big bucks. I think a certain number of mass tourists will definitely help our economy, but too much can be detrimental. To tourists, you are very welcome to the Philippines - we will welcome you with open arms. But pls don't make demands for experiences you enjoy elsewhere. They have their allure, we have ours. And know that we cannot lure you at all costs. But we will try our darned best to improve our services as best as we can so you enjoy every moment with us. But if you are impatient and are looking for something else, its ok to come later.

Bali island in Indonesia is wide compared to Siargao island in the Philippines. Compare Bali island with Boracay or Palawan to be fair 🥰 I really want to go to bali island, But i find out that there are many thieves, I have second thought.

I think these issues are the one being investigated and scrutinize by the senate and not those things which does not benefit the country.
Those coffee shops that don't provide internet, most probably, they are avoiding people to lurk ("tambay") in their shops for the longest time and only ordering a cup of coffee, leaving no place/seats for other customers who will later enter the coffee shop. You know us filipinos, we are too shy or too polite to send people away and let them know that they need to leave the coffeeshop if we will see them working even if they are not ordering anything. We will just choose to avoid the probability than to face a difficult situation. So, this is really bad for business owners. Just saying my opinion about this situation.
I prefer a laid back Siargao and no masses of tourists! Mountains? You may go to the southern part of the island of mindanao Mt. Apo is waiting for you and if it’s too high you can go back to your favorite mountain in Bali! I‘m glad if all the tourists just stay away from Siargao 😂

At least try to be a little humble if you don't know much about other. Believe me Mentawaians could easily mock siargao as surf destination if they want. Put your cloud 9 in the mentawais, nobody would talk about it that much.
Now you need to swallow that facts, that as surf destination siargao is nothing. Don't even dare to dream it's on the same calibre with the Mentawais both beaches and waves.
Because before during 90s people in the Philippines most people only use phone that has talk n text no camera so who cares internet in the first place
In Manila, peoplr tend yo stay fir HOURS in the cafes, buying only one cup of coffee as an excuse...very bad for bussiness. For non-digital nomads and certain demographics, like me, a senior citizen who make up a large clientele, I woild not like to be standing around waiting or standing for long minutes or hours for them to finish thrir coffees. Sorry but its kinda bad for business too.
It’s like Buddhist vs Christian. Bali has nice Resorts and Siargao is for Sports seekers. Foods pretty much the same cuz both love Pork ha ha .
There is no problem with the Starlink of Elon mask even if smart and globe will not work for the development all must buy Starlink for internet stability.
It does not make sense comparing the two. One is desolate, hardly any tourist and the other is full of tourist and dirty. Can we compare two trashy/ dirty locales at least as a base for comparison? At least we can say what type of filth exist. LOL

Typical Filipinos, Bali is crowded (avg 6 M foreign tourists) but there are many waaaay better islands for surf destination in Indo. Get in line Siargao, you have nothing against the rising Mentawai islands, then after that spotlight will go to the Banyak islands and Telo islands of Nias. Mentawais is the next Bali. There's no comparison there.
