i think "first shot" is +1 die to shoot, not to hit. so it should have been 4 dice hitting on 3 if i did not missunderstand your closing firing calculations.
@@tobiasofverberg2189 yep if muskets it is 3+ if within 12 inches, however might have been the jägers with the rifles and not close range then maybe 4+, I cannot remember which was the instance…
@@grahamswargamevault2635 i reacted to to the first charge reaction resolution where you first remembered the first shot rule and put black dice behind your units. then the to hit calculations began and i thought i heard first shot to hit makes it 2+. there is so much +1 for combat that you need to be careful of what is improving to hit and what is improving the attack pool. i am a noob, never played the game, onle read the rules with a focus on the british in the albion books but everything is spread around among combat, special and nation rules so i understand your misstakes.
@@tobiasofverberg2189 Oh sorry, my bad. getting my games muddled up. thought this was a comment on a sharp Practice game, yes i am sure you are right. Our first game we forgot the +1 rule, the second game (this one!) i tried to put a marker down.
I think you are conflating determining who wins the melee, and the modifiers to the resulting test. They have to be done as two separate steps. Also when the guns were charged you didn't reduce the saves by the minus two for artillery at close range, and so missed the resulting test for shaken by closing fire.
Excellent battle report! More Napoleonics please!! 👏
@@panzerfaust6797 thank you, great fun to play.
An inspirational game while I paint my Austrians. I also appreciate you both having rather gentlemanly watches. Quality!
@@axisandaliens hehe. Thank you for viewing, appreciate the kind words.
.great game really enjoyed it well done brilliant 🇬🇧🇬🇧🤠🤠
yep really enjoyed playing it, looking forward to next one.
With British infantry it is far better to fire and counter charge, far better to get plus 1 on six dice versus plus 1 on three or four dice
Riflemen are sharpshooters, reroll one miss
@ yep I remembered that rule after we finished. Still a fun game to play.
@@halfblindbearyes, I did wonder if that would be the better option. 🤔

Yes, we still make errors, but we are getting there. You never know, one day we may play an error free game….. or maybe not. 😮😂
@@wargameshobbyprobably not Alex, as long as we enjoy playing, I will not get to fussy.
