How anybody couldn't enjoy this is just beyond logic! Streisand is comic genius in this film. Let's not forget she was so young when she appeared in this film, but came across like a veteran of the comedy genre. Some say you can learn comic timing, some say you're born with it.Discuss, lol! Definitely one of her finest hours!
This to me is the most Fanny Brice-like number in the film. Her vocal inflections are so spot on. Of course, Fanny didn't have that fantastic figure and those elegant arms and legs. At times Barbra looks like a genuine ballerina.
by Dane Youssef This all-too indefinetely should have stayed. Now I can see why people love her. I myself am not really a fan, but this is something to see. She almost holds her own with the professional dancers. Has she had training? I mean, besides right before the movie? Yes, that was a gem. I laughed. Especially at her thick-as-stone exaggerated Jewish accent and the way she takes creative license with the finale. by Dane Youssef
Are there more tracks on sportify or maybe cd's of this wonderful singer. In 1980, I was19 years old, and took atrip to Russia. I bougt random an record of this singer. About 40 years later I found one track on sportify. Difficult becaurse I dont know the Russian language. Are there more tracks to find? Music overcomes all borders. Spasiba
So funny lol. Actually this number wasnt in the original show. Instead there was a WWI patrotic number w/ Fanny playing "Private Schwartz From Rockavay" (with the same Yiddish accent). But the producers considered it dated (which considering the film is a period piece would still make sense) so it was replaced with this number.
The commentary you’re talking about was what was that necessary you couldn’t walk over here like a person not you couldn’t come over here like a person
They replaced the funny, satirical "Pvt. Schwarz" with this really numbing, lame parody of "Swan Lake." This is awful except maybe to her gushing fans who wouldn't care if Streisand had a BM on screen, they'd love it.

"Was that necessary? What, you couldn't come over here like a person?!" Such great timing, and great commentary.

I LOVE this movie, and this song is one of the funniest, next to His Love Makes Me Beautiful! Long live Miss Barbra!!!!!
She is absolutely amazing. Swan is forever pronounced Shwan in my family.
I wonder how the dancers managed to keep their faces straight when she delivered her funny lines XD Especially the prince.

Yes, she did have ballet training for this number. I believe she was taught by Nora Kay, a former ballerina.

She is very good at imitating Fanny Brice, but the movie was terrible.
It's a very good film IMO.
We must not have watched the same movie. This was even chosen by the Library of Congress to be preserved.
0:03 What was the music in the beginning? I remember it from the many Loony Tunes cartoons that started in the morning.
