I love your casual (but very well researched and organized) way of narrating your videos. Your personality really shines through and you give your videos so much life!

Ah, now we're talking! Raiders is one of my all-time favorite movies and Indy is one of my all-time favorite characters. It's like they made it especially for me. Since I was a little boy I've loved things like the old serials and radio shows and pulp magazines-- since before I was even exposed to them, in fact, because my mother and uncles used to talk about them, which just inspired my imagination. A lot of what I write, in fact, is inspired by these retro masterpieces.
I saw Raiders the week it came out and I was flabbergasted. It captured the essence of the old adventure movies and serials, and yet managed to be contemporary-- and even innovative-- in ways that only enhanced the tradition (kind of in the same way that the Weird Heroes books of the 70s carried the pulp tradition into the modern era). And I can't imagine anyone else but Harrison Ford playing this character. That expressive face just exquisitely betrays the truth of Indiana Jones-- that he's always on the cusp, and occasionally over the cusp, of failure, but he's just going to keep going anyway. :D
Thanks, RNG. Your review did great justice to a timeless classic. As you said, this movie is part of a great tradition of adventure in movie and pulp fiction, and we can only hope that something this good will appear again in our lifetimes. But if not, we can always count on Indy.

Ironically or not, the only movie where Indy makes any difference to the outcome of the plot is Temple of Doom ;)
    Great analysis of Belloq!

Amazing review as always. Thank you for your work. Marion as a Nazi would be tragic!!! I absolutely loved that character.

OMG I can't even count the number of times I've seen this, and I never caught the t-shirt guy in the drunk mourning scene. Great find!

Karen Allen would have made such a great Lois Lane.

Raiders of the Lost Ark is a masterpiece, and I never throw that world around lightly. Lightning in a bottle. I feel extremely fortunate to have seen it the summer it was released in theaters. Thank you for posting.

If Marion had been a Nazi, it would have been too James Bond or Batman the Movie '66. By the way, I get so many good ideas for the future of my channel from yours. Keep inspiring.
