The thing I love most, aside from your 20 channels, which I listen to all the time, (and have been since you only had, like, 3) is the fact that I can listen to them on my walks and not have watch them on TH-cam, with the pictures, that are fun, but miss absolutely nothing in context. Excellent narration, and your asides 😂. I also like that you’re like me, “wait I need to look this up!”.
The film received twelve nominations at the 69th Academy Awards, winning nine, including Best Picture, Best Director for Anthony Minghella, and Best Supporting Actress for Juliette Binoche. It was also the first to receive a Best Editing Oscar for digitally edited film. Ralph Fiennes, playing the titular character, Kristine Scott Thomas were Oscar nominated for their performances. The film also won five BAFTA Awards and two Golden Globes.
I always enjoyed The English Patient but as myself being half Hungarian I knew the true story. But that doesn’t take away from a movie that never stated true story.
Please!! 'Onda-che'. Not 'Ondatee'. Otherwise, very interesting. I was impressed with Fitzroy McClean's stories of the Long Range Desert Group in his book Eastern Approaches. It's fascinating to hear it mentioned again.
I really like your videos simon and they are a refreshment for all off these 💩 A.I. videos 😀... If i can make a suggestion , please concentrate on a few channels simon. Quality is more important than quantity 😀.
Do you think he is not doing a good job as host? He doesn’t research or write these scripts. He reads what they write for him and he sends it to an editor so it looks and sounds good. He is mostly the management.
Yhea he could easily manage another couple of channels. He reads scripts and organises getting them written, etc not write them himself and it wouldn't matter how many he did as the quality wouldn't suffer at all. I'm hoping he does a nature one like places but with Animals, plants, etc.
I'm sorry I just can't. I gave it a try. But I just keep zoning out. I could swear I watched this movie, I just don't remember any of it. So this is not your fault Simon. You could probably bore a hole through Earth with this story. I'm pretty dumb anyways. Voldemort brought me here.
How many ways can you mispronounce the author of this book. Almost every Canadian ... just knows how to say it. Michael Ondaatje - as in phonetically - On-dot-chee-ay Most ...including him, usually say it quickly as On-dotch-ee

Recently rewatched The English Patient. Great film but the true story is much more involved. Thank you!

The thumbnail looks like Voldemort.
That's who I thought it was at first. Voldemort was based on a real person who had really bad plastic surgery? I thought. Poor guy!
Same actor plays both
That's Whistlermort..
Yes. Yes it does.
@@jc6800Excellent 🤣
Looks like Voldermort was a real busy guy before he took on Harry Potter.
With a life like that, why the hell did they appropriate the most boring section of it in the movie?!
Gilf premiere means an entirely different thing in American.
I guess Tom Riddle drove around before being found by Dumbledore.

I wish more movies would avoid putting "based on a true story" when the story bears no resemblance to the film plot
Mustaches were insane back in the day and not in a good way
@20:55 wow thats quite the funny sounding name for an erotic dancer
🤣
Im glad i was not the only one who caught that! 😂
Yup. Same. When he kept saying it, it got funnier each time.
I was like wait, did I hear that correctly?!😂😂😂
Well the names candy and jade where already taken

Woah what a life of adventure, my worse nightmare
The Voldemort face was a nice touch 😂
Fantastic video
Who keeps giving this guy access to aircraft?
That was a beautiful movie
Meh
Simon's famously bad pronunciation of foreign names couldn't be worse this time... I' m not sure if he got a single syllable right...😅
There's an interesting subject for a video there about an admiral in a now land-locked country
Dude was on his own side. I respect that
nice job
Wonderful introduction
Very interesting... and now I kind of want to read The English Patient.
Pronunciation of Ondaajte is OnDatchay.
Thanks!
Thanks! :-) -Daven
Gy in Hungarian is always pronounced like a J. So Gyorgy should sound just like the English name George. (More or less)
Where’s the bloopers with that belly dancers name
5:50 7:44 7:53 8:34 GILF
9:08 12:09 bonus GILF's
My mom told me we were related to Rummle who apparently was the right hand of the desert fox dunno how true that is.
ROMMEL. Yes, "the desert fox"
Why is Voldemort driving that Jeep?
Woohoo! The audio sounds great!! 😉
He was a bit of a slacker then?
I like to imagine that guy introducing himself and the other person saying "you'll never believe this!"
umm excuse me...what was the belly dancers name?
I guess Tom Riddle drove around before being found by Dumbledore....
What was that belly dancer's name again?
Alot of tongue twisters😂

Porsche wasn't a car company until well after WW2, so he wasn't working for them between the wars...
Porsche was founded in 1931, they were building tanks for Germany during the war... There was even a Porsche Tiger I prototype.
OMG ... that butchered name ...
Sumin this video is boring for one of yours. Its very dry and historical
