- In this video I describe what college is and how it functions. This is the first in what will become a channel devoted to explaining as many aspects of college as possible. Not just you guys. Asian here, most Asian highschools don't even care to tell us this stuff. They told me *you'll learn when you grow up* .... And I have grown up... what the heck has changed......? 😥

Just graduated highschool ,17 and clueless. Like they just gave me my diploma and ditched. I don't think most people in my year knows how college works.

I took a gap year, moved to my dad and I am now doing my 2nd year in communiity college
I think I'll get my associates then transfer to get my bachelors

Ok so a major is a field or topic you would like to get more in depth with. As in, something you would probably like to have a profession in; For example, engineering, economics, etc... A bachelor’s degree is a certificate indicating that you are well educated in that major; this helps employers know that you have acquired the knowledge and skills that they are looking for. An associate’s degree is the basic learning given to a student after high school. These last 2-3 year and are performed in community colleges. In fact, a lot of community college students transfer to a four year college (even after they obtain their associate’s degree) and complete a bachelor’s degree.
@@carl___________ do bachelor certificates expire after a while too? If you go for something and change your mind, can you just keep getting different bachelors in different subjects? Or is there a limit?

this was so so so helpful, I'm very very young but I hope to make a life for myself when I get older and I always find myself stressing over this kind of thing but I feel very much relief after this.

same i'm only 9 and i wanna have a family with 12 kids when i grow up(even right now i'm pretty family oriented so my current goal is to have a sucessful life with a big family), its like, 8 or 9 years away for me but i've been bugging my parents for a few years by now about it, i even have a list on amazon dedicated to dorm rooms

How to decide what college you want to got to?
consider your options based on your high school scores & gpa, then compare them with the requirements to any school you might think would fit you. you should search up videos and websites that describes the qualifications for those colleges.

You should make more videos about college! It seems like a very confusing time and most people don’t really know how it works.

keep thinking about it cause time will fly by so quick. technically speaking i was only a freshman 2 years ago and now i'm a senior. and covid cut sophomore year in half and junior year flew by so quick cause i only went 2 days a week. i seriously still feel like a sophomore but have to accept reality that i'm a senior

This was super helpful. I'm still a bit lost though and I have a question, does your weekly schedule stay the same throughout the semester/year? Or does it change every week?
Taking Fridays off in College isn't really a 3 day weekend. You're just moving your lectures to earlier in the week and the homework to later in the week. My first semester I had a friday off and I thought I was getting a 3 day weekend until I realized I was spending more time in class mon-thurs so I had less time to do homework. So what was Friday? Homework day!!!

I have a question, if you graduated k-12 can you choose whatever courses you want to study like engineering, Computer science, etc. Or does it depend on your strand? Example I have decided to take ABM to prepare for accountancy in college and then when I reached college I decided to study civil engineering instead.

I live in Europe, I have about 2 years of Highs School ahead of me. I play football here where I live, and I would like to go to college in US mostly to play football there. Do you think i have any chances to get accepted (Im not a American)? Does the fact that I have experience in football makes any difference ?

3. How much costs college usually?
This_is_family all I know is the anwser to the last question. College is extremely expensive and can cost from $90,000 to $1,000,000 (I don't know where you live so I don't know how much currency that is where you are.) To afford this, people usually either do student loans meaning you pay a bit of it for the rest of your life until completely paid off or join the military, at least in my country and the goverment will pay it off.q
